Excellent video and summary,Dr.Grande,as usual. Alchohol and cocaine are the cool drugs. Get caught with both and society says,"That's ok,we all use it." Well,no we don't. Both used drugs to excess to provide them a distorted reality to live in. The doctor who prescriibed her the seroquel probably told her "don't drink or do any other drugs while you are on this" and she probably replied ," sure, doc, sure",fully intending to self medical on all three as soon as possible. At some point,a man who is twenty four years older has to say,"You can't come back." But ,apparently,he rather enjoyed her repeated return sessions. Until she returned the favor twice with a knife. I feel like he asked for this . And I do think as he was dying,he knew if his son attacked her,his son would die right in front of him. His request likely saved his sons life. But there is no honor in that. He repeatedly risked his sons life with many years of alchohol and cocaine fuelled behavior and by encouraging and indeed paying for his mentally challenged 24 year younger partners drug fueled instability. He created her and he paid the price. I hope she is under court ordered drug testing for sevral decades so she is forced to make good on the statement,"I don't use alchohol or drugs anymore." Maybe men should find a life partner closer their age and not use alchohol and drugs in the first place so they can see this coming in the first date, not the last stab.

If you go back to older videos he breaks down disorders really well. You'll enjoy them. Please remember, just because some people are extreme, it's not everyone. It's usually because they've had no therapy at all. They don't think they have a problem. Amber had people who did what she wanted all the time. Many factors. ✌️❤️🇨🇦
The real issue is what personality disorder did Chaim have? Was he a psychopath? A sociopath? A narcissist? I have C-PTSD not BPD, from severe trauma being sexually abused as a child, neglected by my father after my mum died, and severe battered wife syndrome and PTSD from the abuse from my husband. I was unequivocally the victim in that relationship and still I never once wanted my husband dead. I just wanted him to be good to me and good to other people. It also highlights the dangers of psychiatric medications.

No, the level of intent and the dropping of a murder charge to manslaughter hinges on the partial defenses. There are several full defenses which lead to a not guilty and an aquittal, then there are several partial defenses which bring a murder charge down to manslaughter. In my case it was an 'unlawful and dangerous act' which the jury accepted and found me not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter. No intent was implied in this partial defense. Had I pled guilty to self defense, that's actually a complete defense in Australia and had I been successful I would have been aquitted. Because I have no recollection of Chaim allegedly throwing me against Jordan's door, the apparently hitting me so hard I fell to the floor in the lounge room right before the offense, I could have had a perfectly valid self defense case. But because of the Seroquel induced fugue and psychosis I don't have any memory of Chaim hitting me. I only have Jordan's statement he did. So I refused to plead to any self defense because that would be lying and saying I remember something happening that I unfortunately have zero recollection of. So this 'no memory' defense actually didn't help me, it hurt my case. If I had known Chaim was assaulting me I'd probably would have gotten an aquittal. However I don't remember and wasn't prepared to lie saying I did, so it played out how it played out with jail time for me, but still a resounding manslaughter verdict and unequivocal not guilty of murder.
As a young person who experienced 3 episodes of black out drunkenness, I can state the condition of awareness can consist of tiny little bits of intermittent awareness during that episode. Without the cognitive ability to physically control one’s actions. You are at the mercy of those in your presence/company. Thankfully I was in the company of friends who cared for and protected me and got me to a safe place until I recovered. Lesson learned. ❤
I would rather say, people who suffer from borderline traits, have challenges in relationships. If they reach for alcohol or other substances, it gets even bigger of a challenge. If you add a clashing personality on the other side, the difficulties deepen exponentially. It needs a lot of defication and work to overcome such difficultues. As long as there is a will and willingness and commitment. Alas, I am not a professional.
I don't have BPD. I have C-PTSD. The BPD theory was debunked a long time ago. I have C-PTSD from child sexual abuse, severe neglect and emotional abuse from my father, and then severe trauma from Chaim abusing me including multiple rapes and strangulations. Because that's what he likes to do. Entrap, rape and strangle young girls.
"Dynamics of Abuse": We know that for every action in the world there is an equal and opposite reaction. This is one of the so-called "Laws of Motion" in Newton's physical theory. So let's look at the abuse committed against Danielle and see if her reactions to it count as "equal but opposite reaction." (1) sexual abuse when Danielle was between 7-11. (2) death of her mother at age 11. (3) Danielle runs away for fear of grandparents. (4) she was drinking and was kicked out of the house at 14. Skip ahead ten years when her sister dies falling off a cliff. (5) Danielle's step-brother dies from an aneurysm. (6) Chaim was a stabilizer until he started using cocaine and alcohol in order to enjoy himself. (7) Danielle begins to "react" to these abuses. The reactions are not of the appropriate magnitude. Soon there would be a proportionate response. (8) two abortions, from different sperm donors. Dear reader, when do we hold someone like Danielle responsible after witnessing the hellish experiences she suffered? (9) Chaim had had dinner with Danielle but he went on to visit a friend. Danielle intoxicated. "Back and forth, back and forth." The Third Law of Motion. When one body impacts another body the force of the impact must have a proportionate reaction. As you can see, murder is a minor offense compared to the types of things she suffered. The defense rests. Thanks for reading.
I would be resentful if my father remarried within six months after his wife/my mother died. That happened to my father, with the only difference being it was between six months and a year.

I'm so glad she had the whole continent of Australia to enable her to get off with barely more than a slap on the wrist. Only three lives (at least) were lost while Danielle was finding herself. I only heard about this case here, so my sources are limited. It sounded to me worth mentioning, that the father, while dying, focused on preventing his son from doing something that'd ruin his life. It is terrible the child had to witness his father's death and he has to wonder if he could have prevented it, but I am glad he has a life to live without him becoming a murderer. I hope he can heal.
As someone who used to get drunk pretty frequently, blackout is a common thing and many people dont understand that it actually happens I usually drink something like 20+ beers or 1+ liter of vodka, or any equivalent in a different drink, to get drunk. Next day, I remember almost nothing after about the 10th beer, or maybe about 2 hours before I eventually pass out. I could have seemed not too drunk, but I wont remember anything after a certain point. A lot of things I do when really drunk make absolutely no sense to me later the next day ( thankfully I am not aggressive). I believe blackouts only happen to people who drink a lot in a short time period. You see, most people, after drinking a bit, feel tired and go to sleep, but for some people alcohol acts as a stimulant and they just keep drinking until they just pass out. just pointing out that its common not to remember a thing... and a blackout is common for heavy drinkers. Matter of fact, every time a heavy drinker drinks, he/she will have a blackout, because he/she will drink heavily
Doc I totally agree about Danielle and Haim as much as I agree with Amber and Johnny. To me, AH was definitely one dagger away from killing Johnny Depp...I feel that he has escaped, literally, with his life and she is "crazed!" You know I don't know the psychology of this case, however, even though I am "just an onlooker," I am 71 years old and we older folks DO learn the signs of such caustic people. We can begin to recognize those behaviors. ANYWAY I wouldn't want to be somebody Amber was mad at... for that matter, nor Danielle!!
My take..it was the drugs and alcohol. If she was combining cocaine with alcohol explains how she was able to survive 5 times the legal limit. But in that state of alteredstate blackouts no doubt could be a side effect. Not to minimize the older rich partners death but he could have prevented both drug and alcohol use early on but sounds like he didn't. He bought it and used it. Would be curious to learn his toxicology and if it played any part into the lesser crime reduction. Bottom line don't play with fire. Have a drink with a meal and stop there...mix drugs with high levels of spirits and one's bound to release the evil spirit instead of the happy chill experience. JMHO.

She had several mental illnesses. Im curious what you think of that case.
Crazy. My parents split when i was 13 and i ended up 'homeless'. I was couch surfing till i was 16-17, at his point i bunked with a school friend. Ended up sleeping with her sister within 3months or so because she kept getting in bed with me when she was crying. she never completely told me what happened, but it wasnt of 'sexual' nature. She just said she felt safe with me, some nights we just layed there talking and bonding. Others were more...physical 😌 We (me, her, and her sister) moved out about a year later and got a house together. Life 'was' great.
Hello Dr. Grande, would you consider talking about the case of Keith Randulich? He killed his little sister when he was 18 and immediately called the police, in fact he called them 3 times to make sure they came. He calmly explained what he did and gave his reasons (he said his sister was being abused, and there are more details but he determined that killing her was the only solution since he couldn't kill the abuser). People were labeling him a psychopath in the comments, despite the fact that (imo) he showed remorse and emotions, he said he knew there would be consequences and that he did it to help. The interrogation is on youtube.

Excellent video and summary,Dr.Grande,as usual.
Alchohol and cocaine are the cool drugs.
Get caught with both and society says,"That's ok,we all use it."
Well,no we don't.
Both used drugs to excess to provide them a distorted reality to live in.
The doctor who prescriibed her the seroquel probably told her "don't drink or do any other drugs while you are on this" and she probably replied ," sure, doc, sure",fully intending to self medical on all three as soon as possible.
At some point,a man who is twenty four years older has to say,"You can't come back."
But ,apparently,he rather enjoyed her repeated return sessions.
I hope she is under court ordered drug testing for sevral decades so she is forced to make good on the statement,"I don't use alchohol or drugs anymore."
Maybe men should find a life partner closer their age and not use alchohol and drugs in the first place so they can see this coming in the first date, not the last stab.
I like everything about this video. The comprehensive summary, the profound analysis and the dead pan humor.
It's insulting to Chaim's children making a mockery of their dad's death, and it's defamatory towards me.
My husband is Australian and I lived there for decades. I've always told people: Ïf you want to kill someone, do it in Äustralia." Very low penalities/prison time.
Hardly. The Aussies are brutal and once your jailed they don’t care . Life is life in a room with no tv.

I find learning about all the different personality types, both fascinating and terrifying. 😱

"Happy couples report that their relationships involve less stabbing than miserable couples" 🤣
Lmao. Ikr. The sardonic shade.
2nd degree murder isn't a thing in Australia, in most Commonwealth countries it's just murder or manslaughter. The "degree" comes out in sentencing.
You drew some interesting parallels. I think it's safe to say that people diagnosed w/ Borderline have difficult & unhealthy relationships

Excellent analysis, Dr. Grande! ❤️ Wonderful how you explained the parallels with the Depp/Heard case!

It was manslaughter. This is getting really tiresome. But adds credence to my defamation case.
I would be resentful if my father remarried within six months after his wife/my mother died.
That happened to my father, with the only difference being it was between six months and a year.
Today is “who by antique knife” - as in the Leonard Cohen song “Who by fire”. We all have to go somehow. Dr Grande, you remind me of Leonard Cohen in the sense that your analyses are high quality, with a wry twist of humour.

I'm so glad she had the whole continent of Australia to enable her to get off with barely more than a slap on the wrist. Only three lives (at least) were lost while Danielle was finding herself. Hello Mr. Grande,
I'm following your videos almost since you have started... And it's really fascinating how you explain personality concepts and how your analysis about some celebrities.
There is so much controversy surrounding the Hip Hop legend Tupac Shakur who died 27 years ago and still no body could replace him, His lyrics and poetry are studied in and biggest universities in the US, Some say was BPD, and some say he was NPD others says he was one of greatest souls earth have ever seen, And almost there is not analysis about his personality on the web ...
I'm 100% your analysis will worth alot... And me and alot of music fans will be so interested to listen to your analysis.
Thank you so much
I only heard about this case here, so my sources are limited.
As someone who used to get drunk pretty frequently, blackout is a common thing and many people dont understand that it actually happens
I usually drink something like 20+ beers or 1+ liter of vodka, or any equivalent in a different drink, to get drunk.
Brilliant and extremely informative video!
I respect the clever humor.
Doc
I totally agree about Danielle and Haim as much as I agree with Amber and Johnny.
JMHO.
Great video Todd.

Hi Dr. Grande, can you please talk about the case of Julie Schenecker? She murdered her 2 teen children Calyx 15, and Beau 13, because she said they were "mouthy" while her husband, an Army Colonel named Parker, was in Afghanistan. This happened in Tampa, January 2011. She had several mental illnesses. Im curious what you think of that case.
“As intriguing as a stab free marriage”. Indeed it was more so. 😂👍
Others were more...physical 😌
We (me, her, and her sister) moved out about a year later and got a house together.
Life 'was' great.
Thanks for always pronouncing Australian place names correctly 👍
Interesting comparison. Love your analyses.

Thank you for this. I have a question:
What is an urge and what does it do to a person ( normal, abnormal, etc)? Many thanks,
In New South Wales, murder can be reduced to manslaughter if provocation, either at the time of or any time before the homicide, can be proved. The Crown might have decided that it was easier to prove manslaughter.
Dr Grande you should talk about the Dustin Paxton case in Canada, he tortured his roommate for years, the roommate was over 240lbs and when he was dumped at a hospital he weighed 80lbs and was disfigured, I haven’t heard anyone talk about this or the psychology behind why someone would do that to their “friend “
It's called psychopathy.
I never thought about that dagger as a threat but it could very well have been a threat.
In Australia it would have been a plea bargain. Did Danielle plead guilty to manslaughter? Trials cost the state a lot of money. It's cheaper to resolve it with a plea.
I have a question. Can you do a therapist roleplay with a vulnerable narcissist with or without depressive/anxious features and maybe some interpersonal difficulties (in the context of a romantic relationship)? They often present with these problems initially in counseling and I would kind of like to see a situation where the vulnerable narcissism becomes more obvious throughout the session. Also I think it would be interesting if you referenced the alternate model/criteria for npd when formulating the roleplay.
I beg to differ. My family is blackout drunks. Its like split personalities. These alters are very real. Its super sad, confusing and dangerous.
