I've watched dozens of channels make hot cross buns and it aways look like it takes allot to get them done. Your way is simple and too the point and the look just as great!! Thanks I'm going to try these!!
I like how for each of your recipes, you give ideas on different variations of the recipe you can do. That is really great, as it shows everyone that you can experiment. You are a fantastic teacher. I will most likely be trying quite a few of your recipes, (maybe all of them, if I can get the hubby talked into it. lol!)
@iProdzz I can't speak for the Baker's Delight ones (I've never tried them) but they are certainly a lot better than the supermarket buns. Plus they are really addictive ;)
I love your hearty laugh after you've taken a bite of your concoctions. This looks SOOOOOO yummy!! I will be making this as soon as I can get my hands on the ingredients. Well most likely for Easter!! :)
I am from Spain and no one in my family but me understands English, and since I discovered this chanel I got more stuff to surprise them with. Seriously, everyone in my family loves these awesome recipes but sometimes I have to change them since my Mother is vegan ;_;
Hi OPC, I've been subscribing for a year now and it's this is my first time trying out a recipe of yours! I know I will continue to try your other bread recipes because you always make them look easy... I.e.: 1) No need to purchase a stand mixer just to make bread 2) No long hours of letting the dough rise 3) And you're right, these buns are FLUFFY! This is my second time making bread and I'm surprised by how well they turned out! (my first bread was gamey). Thank you and rock on! :D
They look divine... You must have read my mind, I had planned to make a batch this weekend and was looking for a recipe, and up popped yours in my inbox... Can't wait to make them
You can glaze the buns first if you like. The flour was not sifted, as this recipe gets a lot of mixing and kneading, so any lumps will be beaten out eventually ;)
Yummayyyyy! They came out so well. Hmmm I know how my kitchen smelt when I made mine on the weekend. Soooooo good! Love the idea with the jam! Noice! ;) x
In the states the hot cross bun has a thick fluffy white icing cross on it and I'll never forget the first one I had in the UK. There were a few people gathered and I was quiet voiced but I kept wondering into asking why the cross wasn't sweet! You learn a lot when you live globally and you come back a different person if you come back at all. Your hot cross buns are beautiful much better looking than what I could get it Morrisons in England! Although the grocery stores here in the US do make a lovely light and fluffy hot cross bun. Still there's nothing like homemade. :-)
@pearlipop I don't live in Melbourne and I've never been there, so I can't really tell you much about it. You might be surprised to know that Aussies will juggle if you pat them on the head (that's a complete lie!) :P
Looks great! Can one baste the apricot jam before piping the crosses on as it seems it would be easier than brushing around the crosses? And secondly, is the flour sifted? (I assume so?)
Made these last night; soft, fluffy texture. Tweaked some ingredients and used a breadmaker but hey, they came out great! I am presently in the Caribbean. Reply
These look Fantastic, I would probably skip the dried fruit ( or anything ) and just make the bun. Just a preference for me. Have a great day = ) God Bless
hi chef! I know this is really out of topic but I'm going to college soon and I'm planning to go study in melbourn in about 2 years.. I was just wondering, do you live in melbourn? IF you do, what do you think about the place and perhaps is there any interesting things that aussies do that may surprise me(For e.g: knowing how to juggle since the age of 2) etc? I'd really appreciate it if you'd reply! Btw, great recipe haha. I can't wait to make all of your recipes once I'm done studying :)
Can you add some sugar or even vanilla to the flour paste? I don't know why, but all I remember from my childhood is the taste of that flour paste!! Haha
I've watched dozens of channels make hot cross buns and it aways look like it takes allot to get them done. Your way is simple and too the point and the look just as great!! Thanks I'm going to try these!!
I cant help but smile every time you say "Lets make _______. I'm the One Pot Chef" I get a little grin in the corner of the mouth.

@pointeskatecybunny That's my workbench. I use it for filming because it's on wheels so I can move it around ;)
@emmajphotography The crosses are mostly for decoration and don't really have a taste, but feel free to add some sugar if you like ;)
I love how you say "yum" in almost every video! I'm so glad you did this recipe. Can't wait to try it. Thank you!
I used a tea towel (basically a rag used for drying dishes) - feel free to cover the dough with plastic kitchen wrap (cling film) instead ;)
@jema2609 Depends what the ingredients are. "Cake Spice" sounds closer to the mark ;)
@CookingwithKarma The jam really makes them sing - that sticky golden glaze is just gorgeous (I sound like Nigella!) :P
@charyd76 It was "Sweet and Sour Meatballs" - you'll find it in the "Main Meals" playlist on my channel page ;)
Why don't you just brush the Apricot Jam first and then pipe the cross on top? It'll be much easier.
@iProdzz I can't speak for the Baker's Delight ones (I've never tried them) but they are certainly a lot better than the supermarket buns. Plus they are really addictive ;)
Excellent! Thanks once again, the wife and I enjoy watching.

@YamiMegami Thanks for watching - I'm glad you like my recipes :)
@ameliafreak11 Yeah - RUclips subtitles hate Australian accents :P

@robjnixon I thought we weren't allowed to talk about what happened in Sydney??? :P
They look divine... You must have read my mind, I had planned to make a batch this weekend and was looking for a recipe, and up popped yours in my inbox... Can't wait to make them
@PytoX I've never made Pita bread before - I'll add it to the "research" list ;)
You can glaze the buns first if you like. The flour was not sifted, as this recipe gets a lot of mixing and kneading, so any lumps will be beaten out eventually ;)
@PoikiloblastMel I hope you have fun making them :)
Yummayyyyy! They came out so well. Hmmm I know how my kitchen smelt when I made mine on the weekend. Soooooo good! Love the idea with the jam! Noice! ;) x
@JumpsDJ Not a qualified chef - but I worked in restaurants and kitchens for many years. So close enough ;)
I've done this recipe many times... I love it...very simple recipe..thank you very much.

@hawcusinfinity Just replace the dried fruit with chocolate chips, the rest of the recipe remains the same ;)
You have found my Grandmother's recipe!! She made them every Easter! She used currants. They were delicious! Thank you!!
@Pauly69s Because that was the only way I could fit 16 buns into the pan. It would have been easier if I had a square pan, but it's gone walkabout ;)
They look absolutely delicious! I need to make these soon.
one of the things i look forward to on easter! yum!!!
Thanks for this. We tried it out for the first time and it was a hit!!! It was so delicious!!!
Onepotchef, amazing recipe !!!! Thanks I got a great Easter plan now
I love your videos, David. Thanks for sharing :)
A combination of Coles and Aldi, as they are the closest supermarkets to me :)
@CinquecentoNero There is a link to a Measurement Conversion chart on my channel page that will help you out ;)

@playtube222 Tastes amazing when it's cooked though ;)
@pearlipop I don't live in Melbourne and I've never been there, so I can't really tell you much about it. You might be surprised to know that Aussies will juggle if you pat them on the head (that's a complete lie!) :P
That was thoroughly entertaining!
I'll try this!
@CrazyKayzee There is a link on my channel page to a Measurement Conversion website - I'm sure that will help you out ;)
This is one of the best things i've seen from you.
@Craftprincess86 If you like ;)
OMG yummo! They look easy too. Thanks
Wow woolworths we used to have one here years ago, but shut down i thought they went out of business i used to love that store lol.
Looks great! Can one baste the apricot jam before piping the crosses on as it seems it would be easier than brushing around the crosses? And secondly, is the flour sifted? (I assume so?)

Looks fantastic.
Gosh I miss these!!!
You are awesome one pot chef guy!
@fmafangirl1011 He'll be back soon ;)
Made these last night; soft, fluffy texture. Tweaked some ingredients and used a breadmaker but hey, they came out great! I am presently in the Caribbean.

Just wondering....which store do you get your ingredients? Aldi? Woolworths? chris iga? Coles?
making these for my family over Easter:) although I hate hot cross buns, they love them!
Yep! Most of the recipes for these use icing for the crosses on top instead, though these I think look prettier~
Those look great!
These look great. Have you done Chelsea buns? Would love you to show us how to make Chelsea buns please?
going to make these for sure :) thank you xx
Yummo...now to impress the family !..thanks :)
Excellent!! Thanks Chef.... Now I hope I find a good dry yeast. Is baking powder enough for it to grow? 😊👍
Look yummy
These are great with icing!
These look Fantastic, I would probably skip the dried fruit ( or anything ) and just make the bun. Just a preference for me. Have a great day = ) God Bless
These look good!!
Looks delicious! Have you made a banana bread and or any bread recipes like french bread?
Looks great!
can you use the exact same recipe with choc chips, or do you have to alter it?
You're eyes are so beautiful! Btw I made these and they were so delicous!
They really do!
Can I use fine white sugar or must i use caster sugar?

I'd really appreciate it if you'd reply! Btw, great recipe haha. I can't wait to make all of your recipes once I'm done studying :)

"Caster Sugar" is fine white sugar ;)

Wondering why you don't cross-cross the buns with icing after they are done?
Have you found ur sprinkles?
Can you add some sugar or even vanilla to the flour paste? I don't know why, but all I remember from my childhood is the taste of that flour paste!! Haha
wow looks delicious, and nicko hasn't done it! well done :D :P
it look like mini panettone ( christmas italian cake) :) very nice
