    OMG it's so simple. This reminds me of my grandma singing Hot cross buns One a penny two a penny hot cross buns. In the evenings before serving us with these buns. U r just great bringing memories back God new how she used to make these. I remember she had a stone oven unlike the modern ones we have. Just beside the kitchen

    Recipe looks good. My husband loves Hot Cross Buns, but our local grocery stores versions are sadly short of his expectations. I think I will work with this recipe and what I know he expects them to be, and hopefully make something very close to making his day! I love your measuring spoons, the wooden handled brass teaspoon, tablespoon, etc. cups. very unique!

    Hi Wendy I made the Hot Cross Buns they were very tasty but a little heavy. I loved the addition of the marmalade etc. Next time, I’ll use more yeast - 3 1/2 to 3 1/4 tsps.. of yeast. I’m partial to just cardamom. My dough did not rise like yours. Will have to give it another try.

      Lydia, may be the yeast was not fresh, or may be you needed to keep it in a nice warm place to rise. I’m sure the next time you make the hot cross buns they will turn out perfect! Enjoy

    Hi, Wendy, since I don't have an oven large enough to bake 16 at one time, can I bake them in batches of 8? Wouldn't the second lot get over-proofed? (I have a 50 litre oven)

      Thanks Simone, if the readymade allspice is not available a substitute would be to use: ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon, ¼ teaspoon of ground nutmeg, and ¼ teaspoon of ground cloves. You can make this in batches and use as required by the recipe.

    made these for maundy thursday and they were DELICIOUS! except the bottom of the buns were kinda burned :') other than that, great recipe. highly recommend. happy easter to you and your family

      @@PlatinItWithWendy i didn't line the baking tray i was out of parchment paper :') but i also read an article that said using an aluminium tray prevents the bottom from burning. oh well, lesson learned!

    Thanks Wendy for these lovely looking Hot Cross Buns ... would like to try them out ... just a couple of queries ...(1) In the video you mention to heat up the raisins and orange juice for 30 seconds but in the written recipe it is mentioned as 45 seconds (2) In the video you have said to add 1/2 tsp of salt to the flour in the stand mixer bowl but in the written recipe it mentions 1 tsp salt ...Please clarify ... Thanks .... I have never baked with yeast before ... hope I am successful ...

      Hi Irene you could put the raisins soaked in the orange juice into the microwave for 30-45 mins. Salt will be 1 tsp, my apologies.

      You can heat water on a stove top and then immerse the raisins in the hot water. You can heat the jam over a low heat as well.

    Hi, I made the buns yesterday but not satisfied as the buns cracked from top. The first proofing was too good but I think the second proofing was not good though I kept it for around two hrs. Please tell me as to where I went wrong.

      Hi Neelam, did the buns rise more than double their size? Was the place you kept them to rise too hot?

    Ur one cup flour is how much in grams its really very confusing in cups as cups gvs different measurements
