TL;DR Thank you! I have 2 hairy pets who shed so trying to find a way to section my diamond art and keep the finished parts covered too, probably will try the second method lol Thank you! I usually don't mind the plastic but sometimes, especially towards the middle of sections, it's a pain to roll all the way back and expose so much glue at a time. But I have a very hairy cat and dog who both shed a lot, trying to find a method that lets me section it off easier while also covering the finished portions to protect it (as much as possible) from hair. I think I'm going to try one of these methods, honestly probably the second one and maybe keep the plastic I cut off and tape it over the finished portions. I've also seen a lot of people use parchment paper as release paper, which might be a good idea.
I use all these methods. I love them all including rolling up the painting and using plastic clamps. It just depends on the size of the painting and my mood at the time. Great video!
I just peel and place! But when I do a mystery, I'll probably use release papers. And I do like seeing other methods; that plastic does get annoying once you've made progress on a canvas (but it helps keep the dog hair and dust out)!
I use a row of release papers, but, keep the clear cover on because I want to protect the canvas from dust and hair. I have to go several days between diamond painting on some canvases. The crinkling clear cover annoys me, fortunately, it does not annoy my husband 😊
I use the same method for doing my paintings, marking off squares across. I find washi tape so expensive here that I don’t use it. I use black craft tape from a large roll that I purchased at Michaels. Depending on my mood at the time I’ll make the rectangles larger or smaller. It really does make me feel productive, and if the canvas is confetti heavy it does make it a tad easier. 😊
@Rachel Rae I started my new project with the release paper and I will never go back! I cut mine in half and can say that my project seems to be keeping "straight' lines much better and I remember to use my "spatula" tool to help straighten my work. So, thanks again for this video!
I'm working on my first square drill medium sized canvas and just peeling back worked for the first few inches but now I am using parchment paper, the precut sheets cut down to smaller size, and it makes things so much easier.
I use sometimes washi, but love release paper as well😊 like you used it, cause then I can see the whole diamond painting canvas with its beautiful colours. It motivates me going on😊
I’ve decided I no longer like using washi tape for sectioning. I only use it around the edges now. Release papers save me a lot of headaches. Love your channel! ❤❤
I like to use painters tape to section off and as labels because they're much easier to remove from my containers, my washie tape is used for the edges of the painting. 💜🇦🇺🦘
Good morning Rachel Rae, I have not used Washi tape. I have Washi tape. I might consider using on the next canvas. Usually what I do is put down drills in the largest area first ( sorry I don't know what that is called.). Then I keep going from the most amount the same color down to the least amount. Then, I place the drills in what is confetti. Works for me. Maybe this works me because this is what my ADHD brain wants to do. But, I will try the Washi tape on the next canvas which I call Ying and Yang. Have a wonderful dry day, because it is raining in SoCal.
Hello. I see that some people number their sections out of order and then complete the sections in order even though they are spread out all throughout the diamond painting, if this makes sense. My question is what is the advantage of completing the diamond painting in this manner?
Hey Rachel I actually do both ways. I guess it depends on the DP and if I am going to enhance it. I just have trouble getting the washi tape to stay on the plastic. So it does get frustrating. I am using washi tape on a particular DP because I am putting enhancements down but my problem I ran into is when I cut the plastic area the plastic sticks to the canvas plus it's so thick. I actually cut a little slit on my canvas. Plus the plastic isn't cutting very well. Any tips?
The plastic has a right and a wrong side... Maybe if you place a small sticker on the side facing you it'll help when you go to put it back down... I've definitely struggled with the plastic myself - also I've cut through a canvas before 😅 you can fix it with a little duct tape on the back, but try maybe lining up the tape and then peeling up, cutting with scissors, and putting it back down? I haven't tried it but hopefully the lines will help you match it up when you put it back down. Otherwise maybe release papers would work best for that canvas...
Super helpful!!! As a newbie i like seeing all the different options!!
Glad you liked it!!

Team Release Paper 🤗

On the mystery canvases, the release papers are sooo nice. It keeps me from getting a headache!

I'm using release papers I started diamond painting during lockdown now I'm hooked, you teach me new things every time x

I ordered a confetti type canvas (my 1st one like that) this week and release paper, this makes me feel better about my choice to.
I saw this pop up in notifications and had to come right over. I got my 1st release paper with my latest order and this is what I needed! Thank you!
💜💜So happy to help!

@@laattardo you're very welcome!

I use masking tape and cut down the center of it and whatever size I want. I hope that made sense. I sure do love your channel !!
Great video Rachel! I love using the release papers the best. That plastic drives me nuts. 🤪
I use release papers 💕
I prefer to use Washi tape but I also use release paper in the section Im working on to make it a little smaller. 😁
I was doing the exact same thing as I was watching this video, wow 😉💎🥰😘😘😘. Thank you for it, very enlightening. Hugs! 🇵🇹🌞

Thank you 💜
I have tried all the things, but I like parchment paper the best. It feels better to me, and you can still see the image pretty well thru the paper.
I did my first craftibly with release paper what a game changer.
I love your video good tips 😊
I use release papers for mystery painting and washi for everything else

Ooooo great idea!
I like the washi tape method the best
❤ Thank you!!
so helpful
Awesome 😎
Release papers for 2 rows is my method!
Hi Rachel! Where can I find plastic tips? I've looked all over. Thank you Dianna 🙂

I do the same!!
Was waiting for a video like that. I saw you using baking paper in the ironing your canvas video can you use it instead of release papers?
I don't do that anymore because if you get the wrong kind, it can stick. :(
Faffy is a great word! Highly underused. I say all the time “this is way too faffy!” and nobody appreciates it 😅
Faffy is a fine word! Hehe
How many hours does it take you to finish a large painting? 20 by 20. You have inspired me.
I'm not sure, it's been a long time since I timed it....depends on the amount of colors really!
@@RachelRaeCraft Thank you for the speedy reply. Well it has 36 colours. It’s probably going to take some time.
Hi! I'm not sure what the relase papers are in the Netherlands, but I wonder if a sheet of anti stick baking paper would work too?
Yes just test it first bc sometimes there's a side that sticks more than another
Thanks Rachael. So far I use Washi tape.
Do you have a video showing ho to "section" off double sided adhesive?
I can't find a specific video, but I just cut the paper to the size of a section and peel it back.
Hello. I see that some people number their sections out of order and then complete the sections in order even though they are spread out all throughout the diamond painting, if this makes sense. My question is what is the advantage of completing the diamond painting in this manner?
It's really just a fun way of revealing the picture while keeping it a mystery :)

Also someone suggested painters tape instead of Washi... That might stick better on that plastic!
@@RachelRaeCraft I don't pull my plastic off unless I am going to use release papers. Thanks for the tips.
Not even the point of the video but I feel like I understand the use of cover minders for the first time! 😂🤦🏼♀️
can i just cut this plastic with pocket knive carefully and nothing will happen to my canvas?
I wouldn't recommend using a pocket knife. It might go right through to the back.

I love using the release papers. I cannot stand the plastic crinkling so yeah, it’s gotta go 😂🤣😂
I use washi tape
