I totally forgot to add a part while editing the video!
"The MSI Claw will use Intel's new Core Ultra 5 135H for the cheaper model at $700 and the Core Ultra 7 155H for the two more expensive models at $750 and $800, respectively. Now, the Core Ultra 7 might be just as fast as the AMD Z1 Extreme in the Ally or the Legion Go, and if Intel fixes their driver issues and MSI will be able to handle the wattage problem I had for these chips with lower power laptops at 20W, like the MSI Prestige 13 or the Acer Swift Go 14, then it might be a tiny bit faster than the Z1 Extreme. But we’re probably talking about 5-10% more FPS, if at all. And I don’t think that justifies paying the same amount of money one year later while the ROG Ally already dropped prices a while ago, whereas, for example, over here in Germany, you can get used ones in really good condition for only $500. "
I'm in Germany and I got a brand new ROG Ally last week for 599 euros and I love it. The only advantage of the MSI claw is the 32gb RAM. I know some simulation games that consume a lot of RAM and the ROG Ally only has the 16 GB RAM model.
@@ziqinzhao9464 the MSI claw Will NOT have 32GB. 16 only.
I think people are sleeping on hardware XeSS, the image quality is better than FSR. If the performance is on par with the other handelds and it doesn't have major issues, those smaller advantages could add up.
Yeah I didn't make that experience when testing it in the past. On the core ultra 5 125 to be precise.
Less fps and less good looking in Cyberpunk when I remember right.
A while ago I tried in in the Witcher 3. Was terrible.
But I'll give it more chances soon enough.
wonder what verison of xess witcher 3 used. allegedly xess 1.2 is much better then 1.1 even though in cp2077 there are still a lot of artifacts in reflections.
Wouldn't mind paying extra for a 32gb variant.
They should've made it 32 gb of ram at the start... 8 gb vram 24gb ram etc could've been possible...ram is the only issue to me, bios etc can take time, other hand helds have been out for more than half a year now, tho i wonder what a.i boost does, the npu
Considering my ultra core gaming tests so far, it doesn't do anything ;)
(referring to the npu)
@@Hubwood ah i see, maybe exist for future up coming uses
For me, the hardware isn't the issue but Intels poor graphics drivers for non DX12 games.
I only use a handheld for my library of legacy Steam games, nearly all of which use DX9, or older. Older games can run at least at native resolution, max settings and a mostly locked 60fps, or higher.
Intel Arc drivers are currently very poor compared to AMD ones for older games.
As for 16GB vs. 32GB, that doesn't bother me as a lot of that comes down to people's unrealistic expectations of Triple A gaming on a device like this.
yeah i get what you mean, it's just that 16GB ARE too small now in more and more games, and due to that it won't be future proof like at all.
You CAN play Triple AA games on the ALLY and the Legion GO. Actually some of them REALLY well. But if you could always use 8GB VRAM or more for Ultra Textures, they would even look so much better while still running just fine with 60 FPS or so.
Exactly. Arc graphics aren’t great and their driver support is bleh at best. Hope I’m wrong but I don’t see it doing much more than that’s out now, not to mention what amd releases next.
I agree, we will see drop in the price very soon after launch or even canceling since it will not sell... MSI missed the opportunity to make some improvements specifically for this emerging class of Windows handhelds:
1) 32GB RAM
2) decrease the screen bezel, and increase the screen size to 8 inch.
3) support full size SSD
It's kind of obvious what you should do *now* in this market, but I guess they had something planned for a long time, they bet on the bad horse (Intel) so it took too much time to execute.
I wannee see a oled gorilla glas handheld with 32gb of ram and better video card, and maby 2 tb instead of 1 🔥
What you say makes no sense:
- most PCs for gaming use 16 GB of RAM, some people play even with 8 GB RAM provided they have a dGPU with its own VRAM
- these consoles have a good iGPU but 4-6 GB of RAM is the sweet spot, as you can’t use more textures and stuff (that would need more RAM for the GPU) as they are too weak. As 8 GB of VRAM is too low for a 4070, more than 6 GB RAM for a iGPU is useless. That leaves 10 - 12 GB RAM for the OS/game, that is more than enough.
- I only buy well optimized games, that means they should work (within the iGPU capabilities) perfectly with 10 GB of ram, W11 included.
What clearly should be done: remove ALL startup apps that you don’t use on a console: Dropbox, TeamViewer, etc use WAY TOO MUCH resources (specially RAM) and that makes the difference. I wrote TeamViewer team because on my computers, in idle with no active connections, TeamViewer was eating over 500 mb RAM and 7-17% of CPU. They did some updates since then but I didn’t control again if it’s solved now. But this shows how these -used to be small- apps are using way too many resources.
You're welcome to disagree on my opinion, though saying it made "no sense" seems a bit "harsh" if you get what I mean.
Again, I've testedalot of games on the ally and go. Like more than 50. Not only testing but benchmarking them.
There are scenarios in newer games were you would defenitely get more performance with 32gb of ram. Why do I know this? Because I also tested igpus in laptops with both 16 and 32gb of ram, and guess what. It makes a difference. Sometimes more, sometimes less and sometimes none.
BUT again: having only 16 gb does not allow you to combine low settings with ultra textures, which would be perfectly possible with more vram. Because texture only affect fps a tiny bit usually.
And games often look so much better that way without sacrificing FPS.
And second: 16gb is not future proof at all. The second you're using some background stuff you're screwed. And the Ally and Go are perfectly usable as a desktop PC and would benefit ALOT from more RAM therefore.
16GB is not a problem for this level of gpu performance and small display. It supposes to play at low to medium or can be high for old games. The problem is intel arc and its driver.
I wonder if using weaker dedicated gpus (like the mx550 or mx570) could ever enter the handheld market and make a difference.
An extra chip, heat sink, vram, power delivery PRMs, there's a reason why every single gaming handheld uses an APU
Not with their tiny 2gb vram...
Better than 0 right? Or you cant just add the vram if the gpu already has dedicated one?
I suppose that I don't understand computer enough. I thought that having a dedicated gpu and having dedicated gddr6 vram could make a genuine difference.
arc is trash sadly
☹️
brand new graphics card from intel... of course its gnna fail. lol
🙈
will adding 16GB of GDDR6 ram as system memory cost significantly higher?
You won't be able to add ram.
@@Hubwood iam sorry but I was talking about OEM.
Whatever sweet exclusivity deals Intel have offered OEMs, doesn't look to be worth it to gamers.
As a backer of the OneXplayer X1 that also uses this Intel iGPU, I am not surprised by the real world benchmarks but am still disappointed.
Clearly Intel corporation needs to work much harder than this and actually compete if it wants to earn that GPU street cred.
Personally, this just furthered my plan to eventually buy an AMD variant of an OneXplayer X1 when inevitably comes out and I'll give my Intel variant to a relative.
Yeah well maybe msi/Intel somehow manage to really improve the performance until it's release..
Amd >> Intel
On the contrary, I hope if fails so it will drop to $200-$300 in a few months.
😂
You evil little monster, 😜

There's no compelling reason to get msi claw like oled to differentiate it with rog and legion. And yea, intel is not good enough.
If it came with the upcoming arm snapdragon x elite, now THAT's compelling. Imagine macbook m1 on a handheld running windows.
@@jackipieggthe power draw of the snapdragon x elite is too high.
Too many cores for a handheld gameing device all those unused cores will sap battery life unless msi give us a way to turn some cores off during gameing
The number isn't the problem, it's how the system handels them. The new super Low Power cores could actually improve battery life on light windows use...
@Hubwood very true 👍 it's all gonna be real interesting to find out its also great we are at that point with tech that we can play most aaa games on such portable devices ,but i agree a ram upgrade instead of ssd size increase is a better idea an could help with performance especially in some games willing to utilise it since these devices get used mostly for gameing not using blender or such apps lol, also to see the price to performance comparison with msi against the rog and steam deck .
I'd say rog atm has the best value to performance since they are the same price if not cheaper than the deck oled in some cases an the rog charges very quick even though steam decks battery life is awesome for mobile gameing👌.

Bro can you give your witcher 3 save file?
There you go:

@@Hubwood Thank you bro
16gb ram for my taste is straight away : FAILURE! ....i mean you can get an rog ally for even 350£. Still don't want it lmao😂
seing its Intel is enough not to buy it.
What happened to dell UFO ?
Good question. Just dissapeared...Like UFOS do 😅
@@Hubwood 😆😂
not trying to hate but this LUT looks so bad
DoA
Just 20gb of ram would be sufficient as the default vram is 4, windows 11 actually uses around 4 so there are around 12gb of available ram.
Let's compomise at 24GB, that would be okay aswell ;)
@@Hubwoodthis
Bro your witcher 3 save file got deleted it is saying like that
Idk.. the biggest issue with the claw is probably how bad ARC drivers are. Literally cant run most games without some kind of issue. Theyre not ready form primetime
Yeah that aswell... We'll see.
Imagine if Amd suddenly announce the Z1 extreme successor
AFAIK the next AMD mobile cpus/GPUs will only provide a minor improvement.
Yeah no lol
Amd new chip is inside the new AYANEO flip
Keep it up 👍
Why did msi make it just like the ROG Ally? Nothing about it stands out on the outside.
😐🤷♂️
agreed!
They are on store form now and 200$ more expensive them Ally.
AFAIK only Pre-Orders. No?
@@Hubwood yes
@@Hubwood I hope MSI will bring 200$ value to the table when compared to Ally/LLgo
@@mgsan4702 I can't see that yet O_O
WUT? You think 16gb is not enough? Stop playing brand new AAA games and expecting to crank texture resolution. That's ridiculous. These devices are IN YOUR HAND. Break free from your console mentality where you only play new games. PC gaming has been around for like 40 years. There are infinite games you can play on these.
He meant 16gb is enough for dedicated graphics card PCs but integrated graphics the more ram the better performance
I would like to decide for myself which games to play on these devices. And contrary to what you're saying you can defenitely play slot of AAA games on these devices very well actually.
And I would like to decide for myself if I'd pay like 50 dollars more for an extra 16gb. Thank you ;)
@@Hubwood yet every manufacturer including Valve realizes there's no point to more RAM at these resolutions. Weird huh?
@@davidfaustino4476
Wrong. There are several Handhelds with 32GB. Like the Aya Neo or the OneXPlayer.
But selling 16GB Devices allows them to sell 32GB upgrades soon and cash in twice you know?
@@Hubwood LOLOL sure thing dude. Neither of those companies can support their own devices. Go for it. You crank those textures at sub 1080 resolutions. 👍🤡
