  • A look at the National Collection preserved London & South Western Railway T9 4-4-0 30120.
    The locomotive was most recently overhauled at the Flour Mill Workshop and in this video we see the T9 visiting the Dean Forest Railway, for an event celebrating locomotives overhauled at the Flour Mill. More recently the locomotive (which initially during this ticket was based on the Bodmin & Wenford Railway) has been based at the Swanage Railway.

    Mhm, that is one superb-lookin' steam locomotive. Aren't trains just the most fascinating things in the world to come by? Personally, watching them makes me wanna become a railroader even more for the pride of it.

    This isn't the engine Edward was based on, but it does resemble a K2, i can see why people think it is Edward.

    Que belleza de maquina, no cabe duda que la época victoriana fue un período muy fructífero en lo referente a la variedad de diseños y elegancia de estas maquinas, en gran medida es la consecuencia del influjo del estilo romántico llevado a su máxima expresión.

    Imagine this locomotive was painted blue

    • @bennickss
      @bennickss 2 года назад

      This isn’t even edward’s basis, Edward is a Furness railway K2. Additionally, only caledonian steam locomotives, LNER a4s and a few experimental locos during the br era wore blue liveries, not a chance it’d ever be painted blue

      T9 can be used for day out with thomas events as edward since this is the closest engine for Edward's basis even known its not a k2 class

    Does anyone know what those two big white circles are on the smokebox? It's a bit of an eyesore

    • @wakt21
      @wakt21 7 месяцев назад +1

      They're called headcode discs, indicating what type of train service the locomotive is pulling. However, when they are placed on the very sides of the smokebox door like that, I have no idea what type of train service that means.

    • @ex48bw
      @ex48bw 27 дней назад

      @@wakt21 If I remember right, a disc (or lamp after dark) either side of the smokebox indicated a train running between Exeter and Bude, a regular job for T9s in their later years.
