I live in South Mississippi, just north of the Gulf Coast. My local Walmart has a rather extensive fishing and outdoors section...because of course it does. Deep south and all. I still have an Abu Garcia Silver Max baitcast reel that I bought at Walmart years and years ago and it's still kickin'. I use it all the time. I am a huge believer in technique over tackle. I promise you that I can out fish someone who's loaded up with the best baits and tackle if he has no clue what he's doing. Expensive gear and lures don't catch fish. Understanding bass behavior and applying proper technique does.
Hell yes nabber I live is southeast Louisiana born and raised on the big lake and lil lake use to sleep in the picking box on the shrimp boat when I was born so I with you on that I can take the old H&H redfish spinner the old ones that where safety pin stile thin wire and a H&H purple with blue and red glitter and a white tail and out fish 97-98% of the ones fishing bass around here and south of here but when it comes to gear I would rather have the best rod I can afford and a old cheep reel because I can strip that reel and put bearings in it myself for 15-30$ and it will do anything a 300$-800$ reel will do I still have my. Abu Garcia 6000 from when I was a teen and got it in 93 and also the old 5000 and 5500 that are from 97-98 and I fish and have fished everything everywhere with my 6000 I have caught tuna that where from the 8-10lb to the 20-25lb range with it to big bull bream
When I was working i would buy some high end reels, but now that I am retired, I am finding that the $50 Walmart reels paired with some nice quality rods works just fine. I am going to try the hazedong/prop setup on my next trip. Thanks to all of the guys contributing to this video.
Happy you guys covered Florida this time 😊 I agree with several of the tips - Megabass vision 110 jr, the a-rigs, swimbaits and swimming worms as well as the standby senko
Thanks Jonny. I still don't have the small swimbait technique down. It sounds so simple when I hear you talk about it, what gives. Well it's not like I am going to give up so thanks for the pep talk.
Walmart doesn’t have the biggest selection in Virginia. It’s awesome that you use budget reels and catch all those fish. I used bass pro carbonlites for years now I’m using mostly Curados.
Since watching Johnny I started buying some reels at Walmart, Abu and Lews. They have performed great and have been surprised by how well they hold up. I believe the sensitivity in a rod is more important than a mud to high end reel.
I favor a jerkbait in cold water during the winter time. I also have done well catching bass with a rattling bait like the 5/8 ounce Yozuri Rattlin' Vibe, or a ball head finesse jig with a small chunk style Zoom trailer. I have caught bass on an A-rig, but that's one bait I don't really like to throw. BTW, I really like this Declassified channel. Keep them coming!
My Walmart carries revo x in spinning and casting lol. The pro max is a hammer too. Any of the max series reels really. That Hank Parker rod ain't no joke either. I got a lot of pricey stuff but I still use those max reels everytime on the water
Jonny since I started watching your videos I also I’ve been going to Walmart and buying the cheap Abu Garcia reels. Me and my son both love them for the price bad thing is they always have right handed never left handed that’s one downfall of being left-handed I guess will try the new Abu Garcia spinning reel . For my finesse fishing thanks again for another great video
The Walmarts in the Southeast Texas area don’t have much, mostly, rod reel combos but on the other hand we have Academy and a wealth of mom & pop tackle shops
Always bringing the best information to take to the lake. I literally apply this information to see how it translates to my lake. Thanks BFD, Jonny, and our All-Star cast!
I have been watching Randy's video on jerk baits, so I will be trying those this winter. The walmarts in Kentucky and Southern Indiana have a lot of fishing supplies
Having trouble keeping fish on on the small swim baits. Using the same and similar tackle, they just stay on a few seconds. Many bites are 30+ feet down. Afraid of deep hooking.
Great job with this video and information hey what ever rod and reel you want to use and like do what you want to last year fished Chickamauga with the small
In this video Matt was specific to Florida. Kyle did mention lakes with grass in the South. For your area you can take tips from Jonny,Miles, and Randy to apply to one of your lakes. Miles is TVA but his tips may apply to a smaller river system you fish. Jonny is the off shore expert and then Randy is your shallow water expert. Thanks for watching!
All the Walmarts are good for choosing a reel, I've done it before, I bought a arbu Gracia black max, I guess all of the suggestions on baits are good, I can't justify paying 25$ for a jerk bait even though it's a guarantee on catching a lot of fish, the swimbaits are what I need to get better at, was wanting to know if you could do a video on the hybrid hunter?
There are some less expensive jerkbaits out there like a lucky craft pointer that are a little less expensive. The good thing about jerkbaits is you’re typically not throwing them into brush so you don’t lose many.
Message for KYLE, sorry, but the hook you held up for use on the worms was not a straight shank hook,, This hook was an offset round bend hook!! A straight shank hook has no bend between the round bend on the bottom and the line tie at the top!! Sorry, I guess you just got so involved with message that you just made a mistake, happens to all of us!!

I typically use Lews reels and I have purchased several from my Walmart store in Virginia. Great video comments from all the anglers!

Great video men until Jonny hijacked you with wally world! 😉 I lean towards better rods myself. Wish you continued success. All quality stuff gents.
Walmart is a good option for fishing gear for sure.
