Don’t put your work down. I think you’ve done an amazing job. And in 100 years your pieces will be worth a fortune too. I loved them and watching you create them.
Honestly, I like your creations better than the ebay lot. I believe that just the memories of you sitting down together and creating tiny beautiful things are worth more than any monetary price. They are lovely, but they are very personal too.
You ladies have sparked a few ideas for me! 1) I can use some leftover Moire fabric from wedding dress to make something for my dollhouse. 2) I hand cross-stitched sachet bags and gave them out to all of the women who attended my Victorian style wedding. I will make a miniature pillow out of one of them. Thanks for the inspiration! ❤🥰 Your work is absolutely charming!
A faster way to organize the floss is just to divide it by color and put each color in a ziplock or marked manila envelope. I do that now. I'm not as ambitious as I used to be when it comes to organizing. I feel better now that I'm older and don't have the anxious feeling that everything has to be in its place. I think that is part of what your audience loves about the part of your lives that you share with us. Your manner is calming and peaceful.
LADIES! IM BLOWN AWAY. EVERYTHING CAME OUT FANTASTIC! A+++++++++++ I LOVE EVERYTHING YOU MADE! I LOVE THESE TYPES OF VIDEOS. I OFTEN IMAGINE WHO WILL BE THE NEXT OWNER OF YOUR DOLL HOUSES...
Your creations are very nice. I have wished for a while now that you might show some of the thrift stores/ charity shops where you find some of your stuff. Please do a film on that, if they allow you to. Was hoping you would post a crafty video, and there it was. God bless, stay well. Hugs to Sunny cat.
These are lovely. I’m a cross stitcher myself and the embroidery was so lovely to watch. When u use your cross stitch thread, try waxing it first. Stops it tangling and don’t cut the threads too long either. I’m knitting myself a red sleeveless jumper. You ladies are an inspiration
Ladies your talents are amazing. What you created is beautiful and honestly better than the originals. Do not doubt your talents, the ability to see something and then replicate it to the extent you both did is outstanding.
I really enjoyed that watching you work things out. I will say be careful when you cut lace up as it has a right sidxe and a wrong side. I keep a lot of my things in A4 plastic boxes which fit nicely in a bookcase. There is still lots and lots of stuff just in drawers and big plastic boxes. Choc boxes and anything I can get stuff in. You made such a lovely job of creating the things you saw on Ebay and so much nicer to have made them for yourselves. When doing tiny embrodery youcould split the silks so they are not so bulky. Stay safe and hope to see you soon in more of your lovely videos you clever pair.
That's the difficulty in all art! If only we could imagine it into being❤ perhaps I'll make you a video of my storage, as I collect various bobs and bits myself.
You definitely succeeded, Kate and Fleur! Just called it "inspired by" or "in the style of" like other artists, because you are both very talented artists. Be well from washington state USA ❤️
I used to cross stitch full time with my mother until she passed away. We used to wind our threads around cards (you can buy them online) or the fancier ones went inside small plastic ziplock bags with card inserts we cut out from cereal packets etc and wrote the number on. I love your little creations! They all look very vintage to me!
You have done a wonderful job of recreating the style of the items you showed. Most likely were hand sewn by a child learning to sew and wanting to show case their skill in the dolls house. Children of that era became quite skilled at sewing and embroidery. What a wonderful recreation you did! As far as storing ribbons, lace and other long stringy things you need cardboard and some tape . I would find a box that is about the size of a shoebox then take cardboard and cut it into pieces double the size of plating cards, or perhaps a 3 by 5 card. Then using a small price if the tape stick the end of the ribbon or lace to the card. Then carefully wind the price around the card keeping the ribbon or lace flat. After completing the cards, neatly out the cards in the box much like you would put cards in a file cabinet. This would make it so you would not be fishing through ends with a big jumble. This what it did with my laces, ribbons, binding tape, and brick-a-brack. You can then put the boxes neatly side by side in the draw, labeling them as to their content. This is what I did and what a difference it made! You are doing a fantastic job at reusing scraps and tid bits you have been finding on your mudlarking trips! You are so imaginative and clever!!
Embroidery thread. You leave the 2 paper tubes on, find the end, and just cut the length you want off, so the skein stays nice and neat! For cross-stitch you don't want the thread too long or it'll tangle. Also many cross-stitchs only require a couple of strand rather than all 6. Anchor or DMC are the best quality.
Was just thinking while I was watching that if you "pre-antiqued" some of your white lace trim by maybe soaking it in tea and then letting it dry beforehand.. you might be able to achieve more of that nice old color the inspiration pieces have. I love your interpretations, looking forward to seeing you ladies make more textiles in the future.
You two are always so hard on yourselves! They look brilliant and the whole point of doll's houses is that they are home made and personal, so you should both be proud! We had a pair of those exact orange scissors in our sowing box, but they vanished I think 🤔 I love that little tiny mat that Fleur cross stitched and her blanket. Plus Kate's cussion looks great. It was lovely to see kate's facial expressions whilst stitching, even if they were expressions of anguish and resentment 😂
20 count aida is good for cross stitch carpets, etc, and you can use evenweave, it's not as firm as aida, though. Some people use silk gauze, but that is really fine. It can be quite time consuming, though, but there are books out there with patterns and you can adapt full size charts for miniatures if the designs aren't too large. A little sampler or primitive style designs would look nice in one of the houses - there's a facebook group that is dedicated to primitive cross stitch.
All absolutely gorgeous!! I love watching you improvise and come up with amazing things! I keep close wrapped around wooden clothes pets and store them in a large zipped mesh bag,
When I look at some of the random stitches in the original I am reminded of things I made at age 9 or 10 for my dolls. Some were trimmed off if cast-off linens and some were my “originals” wonky embroidery and all.
I think your creations are wonderful! And thank you for not editing out all the everyday flubs like loosing things, and the camera falling over; it's relatable.
Oh my goodness you two, how absolutely beautiful. I really like yours better than the ebay ones. Yours are very very special, they were made with love. The relationship you and your mom have is beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
Beautiful work ❤ Fleur you probably want some evenweave linen for your cross stitch, and you can always separate the 6 strands down into 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 so you can make the stitches finer and more in scale xx I keep my embroidery floss in flat boxes, and I use those loose 'ring binder' style clips to organise them into bunches or colour, brand or project...whatever I want really. I find a shallow flat box stops them jumbling themselves up when I'm not looking 😊xx
It all turned out beautifully. I love doing embroidery and cross stitch also. I use old dolly pegs/wooden pegs to wrap trims and narrow laces on, with longer and larger trims I cut out cardboard squares and wrap them on those, sticking a pin in at the end to hold all in place. I look for and keep any wooden spool to wrap threads on and I also spin wool so I'm always looking for larger spools and use them for my really pretty laces and trims. This is all easily kept in drawers or like I do, in old suitcases or trunks. Easy to see the labels to pull out whichever case I'm in need of. You could even use your broken pipe stems to wrap threads around. Thread one end into stem, fold down and secure with tape or thumb and start wrapping thread around evenly along stem. Secure by hooking end under thread. I'd also love a shop along at the charity shops with you ladies. Hugs from Australia 💖💖
Hello. I really love your dollhouse. It’s beautiful. I have taken some of your ideas for my own dollhouse. I keep my bits and bobs of lace and fabric in glass jars, and I can always see what’s inside. Thank you for your inspiration and dollhouse ideas
So cosy, it felt like sitting at the crafting table with you! Fleur working stitches on the little mats looked as fiddly as, and not dissimilar to, embroidering a SHREDDIE! 😅
You did an incredible job..your creations are prettier than those original old things...I love your chaos! That is soo how my crafting station looks when I'm "imagining..I keep my bundles of things in the clear zip bags that comforters and sheet sets come in..anything actually that I can see through..currently, my embroidery glosses are in a plastic takeout salad container .. snaps shut nicely lol! Love you both so much, and your beautiful "bits"
Wow! You have a lot of lace and materials to work with. The old adage my mom always told my sister and me was "you can do anything you put your mind to". She was right! You both did a Fab job.
Such a fun video! I love the fun you two have teasing each other as well as encouraging each other!! So much more satisfying making them as well as the memories together while doing it!!!🥰🥰🥰
Kate with that hair looks like an old fashioned girl sitting by the fire working on her embroidery from long long ago. In the olden times. Love it. Donna Michigan USA
They all turned out lovely!! It's so true, though, isn't it, that things always take much longer than you think they will ... it's the bane of my life, that truism!! Lovely video, as always! Thank you so much for sharing! kindest regards, k
Everything looks amazing! With the blanket on the green bed, you can always get the sides to lay down by inserting a very fine wire on the edge of the blanket and bend it
My late Mother was a doll house maker. She often got vintage white handkerchiefs with tatted lace edging and used them for bedding, curtains, and cushions.
Ladies! What a lovely way to end my work week! I truly like your creations better than the photos that inspired you! And I cannot wait to see how they look in the dolls houses!! 🦋🦋
I wrapped each of my embroidery threads around those old style wooden clothes pegs/pins and secured the end into the slit. Your little reproductions are super cute! 🪡🧵
Hello Fleur and Kate👋🏻, lovely to own the vintages pieces BUT even better to make your own. 100% created some amazing replicas. Just love when you craft together. Thank you 💛🧡🤎. I hope it was good news regarding your find 🤞🏻
I usually purchase these floss plastic cards to store my floss on. You can find in craft stores. You can also cut the same shape out of thick strong cardboard like a cereal box. Find a smaller storage container to store them in.
I keep most of my threads and scrap cloth in mesh bags. They stay aired out and I can see what's in them. Recycled bottles and glass jars work too. Beautiful work today ladies. Thank you.
These are so precious I believe a lot better than the original. You both always out do yourselves! I have to give you a round of applause 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 beautifully done ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️❤️
This is so amazing... Your little cushions and blankets are filled with love and joy... My favourite house I must say... You are makers of magic sweet souls... Hugs...
My mum is a cross stitcher. I know she wraps the cottons around small bits of cardboard and stores them in a segmented container for easy acssess. She also writes the colour or number on the cardboard
I love what you’ve done in recreating these antique items. I’ve studied the eBay pictures of these and I think a lot of the stitches are stem stitches but quite crudely done. Your finished pieces are beautiful and will look right at home in your doll’s house x
I have thin strips of plastic I wrap my embroidery thread round. I usually use bit of cardboard. Then I store them in a shallow box in colours. Loved all the makes today. My favourite are actually what you each chose. Thanks for another great make ❤
As for embroidery floss, there are cardboard bobbins you can wind the floss around. I have mine both in plastic bins made specifically but also in cigar boxes with cardboard or balsa dividers. Just depends on whether you want to see the colors or not through the container.
Sounds great ladies why miss out when you can make your own I hand sew cool got nice scraps there and lovely things you made too❤😊 I have just fallen in love with tapestry using tent stitch etc
This would take some time, but how I organized embroidery thread and lace was by taking medium thing rectangles of cardboard, slitting the cardboard about an inch with an accompanying slit directly across from it and then winding the thread around the cardboard which is then held by the slit. There are variations on the model and width and height of the cardboard.
I love them all, I think you should design your own next time. Thanks so much for sharing your talents. For an inexpensive way to keep your embroidery floss neat, use stiff card board cut into a fat capital H shape , wind the floss around tucking in the end.
Thank you Fleur and Kate for another fun but educational video. You both are so talented If you have a PO Box you could add it after where you have listed your other channel. That way people can send you some things. Fleur, your hands are so beautiful. Is there anything special you use to keep them looking so lovely? Thanks again!! xx Hugs to Oscar and Sonny. I've missed seeing both of them. xx
Don’t put your work down. I think you’ve done an amazing job. And in 100 years your pieces will be worth a fortune too. I loved them and watching you create them.
You lovely, creative, beautiful women, had a pile of wonderful, colorful, beauty, and made something beautiful and wonderful! Awesome! 🥰🥰❤❤
Oh, please if you go to the shop can you take me with you? I mean us, yes us with you? haha! I love the results! Just beautiful work as usual ladies
The only thing I dread about your videos is when they end. Beautiful work, thank you so much.
I am glad that you didn't buy those items, in the end, yours turned out just as good if not better!
Honestly, I like your creations better than the ebay lot. I believe that just the memories of you sitting down together and creating tiny beautiful things are worth more than any monetary price. They are lovely, but they are very personal too.
Totally agree
I also agree! So beautiful with a lot of depth and more interesting than the inspiration pieces.
❤🥰 Your work is absolutely charming!
the point of creativity is making it your own not just like someone elses❤ looks great
Very good effort, your own unique style as always. Colour choices were just right.
I think they are prettier than the originals, they are your own creations, not copies and think Noone has any like them. And that, s the point. 😘
Your works of art are much more special than you could've bought!

Your version are lovely! I can almost imagine future Generations coveting them the way you coveted the ones you could not afford. ❤️

I think you should be very pleased and thank you for another lovely restful video.

You can store some lace around the old fashioned "dolly pegs" and tuck the ends in the slits.
I was thinking along similar lines!

With the embroidery thread, I use kitchen roll holder or toilet roll holders ,if that helps.x

Oh I Love these so darn delicate & Pretty 😍, wish I was half of a skilled seamstress like the both of you. Thank You😊🙋♀️☀️🐾

I’m loving them all. It’s all about seeing something and then making it your own style. I adore them all.
Beautiful and inspirational projects, ladies!❤
Love all the little things you have made. I have seen embroidery thread and ribbon wound around old dolly pegs and stored in glass jars or tea cups
Ladies: a wonderful job. They looked really suited for your dollhouse. Enjoyed watching you both create. Carol from California, USA
Your finished items are better than the picture!! Congrats and well done!
