It is possible to take off the dual speed focus knobs on the other side? They stick out a lot and makes it hard to fit the scope in a case espacially with the EAF on the other side
@@AstroPixUK i think so. There were 3 of them on the silver collar 120 deg apart and now I can rock the collar (rotate it a bit back and forth) but when I pull it’s not coming off
If you go onto my Instagram there are loads. Heart Nebula, Soul Nebula, veil complex ….. I use Stellarium to frame targets and it shows you what will fit. If you go on my Crescent nebula video I show you how to add your scope and sensor into the software.
Great video thanks! So after tightening the bolts the manual focuser of the telescope should not rotate if we tried to rotate manually right? It should be locked by EAF ?
A word of warning about the hidden grub screws. Pay careful attention and just slacken them as shown. Do not attempt to fully remove then or they could fall underneath the adjustment knob and jam the mechanism
Thanks for the good video. I'm am thinking of getting either the WO Z73 APO or the Altair 72 EDF refractor, they both have pros and cons and I haven't decided yet. I see you are on the WO scheme, and there is precious little info on the Altair equivalent regarding its compatibility with this focuser. Have you any thoughts on whether it will take it or not?
Thx :). These focusers will fit almost all refractors. They come with lots of different couplers. I love William Optics scopes. I’ve had 3 in total and all been excellent. I’d like to try the Altair F4 Newtonian
@@AstroPixUKthanks again, useful info. So really if the focuser shaft fits one of the supplied couplers it should be a good fit? I like the built-in rotators on the Altair. I agree the Altair imaging Newtonians look very good, at present I have a SkyWatcher Quattro F4. Not really sure about it's imaging capabilities.
Thanks man. Just set up my GT71 alongside your video. Took 5 minutes!
That’s great. Glad it helped. :).
Thank U fro sharing! Wishing clear skies from Italy
Thank you for liking and subscribing. Cieli limpidi:)
Nice details. I’m getting one in about 2 weeks. I’ll watch again when I install it.
Thx. Glad it was useful
I imagine this method would be nearly identical with my WO GT71. good demonstration, well done!
Yea almost identical and easy to do. Glad it’s useful
Useful! I just purchased the ZWO EAF and I want to install it on my WO GT81. Thanks!
Glad it was of help. It works really well with the GT81
Excellent
Thanks
I have been trying to find instructions for connecting the ZWO EAF to a WO GT81 WIFD. Wondering if it is the same focuser connection.
Most are being honest.

Yea you can take off either focuser knob. You tend to leave the fine focuser on to work out your backlash.
@@AstroPixUK do you know which screws have to be unscrewed? I tried to loosen some grub screwes but couldn’t get the entire thing to come off
@@kamilkp might need a good pull. Have you suitably loosened them?

perfect i was wondering if it would work with my wo gt81 m4. Now i know. was wondering what are some good objects to look at with this size scope.

Thx. That’s right it should not be able to turn manually

Can auto focused work on planets automated air my hand had to help out ?
Good video Jim. I made one also for the Sw ed80 have not publish yet. I still need to edit the video

Put the bracket on the EAF first. It'll save having too much stress placed on the spindle
you know that the spot you are working on is completely out of focus in the video?
