- A lot of you really enjoyed my ranking video of the Far Cry Open worlds so in this video I'm going to be ranking the Far Cry Protagonists. Now Many of the protagonists in the Far Cry series are in fact mute making it near impossible to rank them so in this video I'm strictly ranking the ones that speak being Jack Carver, Dani Rojas, Ajay Ghale, Rex Power Colt, and Jason Brody. If you enjoyed this ranking consider dropping a like on the video and subscribing to the channel if you are new I would really appreciate it. I've also made tons of other Far Cry videos so consider checking those out and staying tuned for more ranking videos in the future!

I apologize for not including Takkar. Many of you have pointed out he does actually have a decent arc, in becoming the leader of the tribe and everything. I should have included him my bad.
Remake of the video
Where would you put him
I was like "but takkar talks too"

Review gears of War
It's good knowing that Ajay was actually a Sergeant in the US army before heading Kyrat which is actually a good explanation of how he's a beast in using guns and in combat
I like your profile picture ;) (Watch Dogs)
@@lordeddy05 thanks
That's true but it was never confirmed but I would like to believe it is that but they should have put more flashbacks of him in the military and more of the kyrat people also more shingra-la
Eh I like the no Military background excuse like Gordan Freeman and Jack Ryan so forth. Vietnam beat America and China, Afganistan beat Russia and America, why not?
I've read that a while ago, but where does it say he was in the army? I can't find that info
I feel Jason was the only character that they used to explore a darker, more deep kind of story. Basically telling the player that the character you worked so hard to make stronger and more powerful is a psychopath and not a good person
@Luxaholic Editz I haven’t played it in a while, but from what I remember, I wouldn’t really consider him a bad person either.
@Luxaholic Editz Jason didn’t go with his friends back home, because he wanted to keep killing his arc is similar to Walter White where in the beginning he does it for his friends/ family but in the end he does it for himself
@@hammerite6418 because he lost himself
I will say he is more of a grey character he only kills bad people out of survival but ends up enjoying it
@@hammerite6418 pretty sure he goes back only reason he is left on the island after the ending is that way you can complete stuff you didn’t do
I like Ajay simplely because of his character motive is the most relatable to me
Eh, its better than some others. He doesn't really have any reason to fight with Golden Path until he finds out about who his father was, unlike Dani who had a whole arc about joining Libertad
honestly every far cry game I played i really feel I'm in that character shoes
@@badreedinedjellali1328 bro same mostly with farcry 4
@@aw3046 he just wants to help out but I wish they continued the story off where he sees both Royal army and golden path is bad and decide to liberate the entire country and save bhadra
You want to return your mom's ashes to a shrine?
Far Cry 3 tells a great story because unlike the other protagonists, Jason’s story actually mattered for him as a character, by killing he became a monster who just wanted to kill and save his friends, he went so far to the point where he didn’t want to save his friends but instead stay on the island and kill more, when u save them, his Tatau are gone, Vaas and Hoyt are dead, his only choice is to go back home with his friends and reflect on what the island did to him. Now that’s a story
Ajay was a sidechrarcter in his own game without being a side character
😂😂😂😂 yes that explains it all you said it perfectly
Yup
I made my own ranking before watched the video. I'm suprised
1. Jason Brody (great development)
2. Dani Rojas (could've been better)
3. Ajay Ghale (this could've been the best protagonist in far cry series ever because had everything to be it, great villain and background)
4. Rex Power Colt (personality is amazing)
Yes ajay could have been best he should have focused on saving the country not being a lapdog for Anita or sabal
Yeah I agree
*1.The Deputy ( because it's us ) XDDD
Yeah the Junior Deputy because we play as her and we are obviously the best here
and Jack Carver doesnt exist
The reason Ajay felt a bit akward and disconnected in the story is that he really didnt want to be there in first place. His mom sended him on his way to Kyrat so he would meet either Pagan or the golden path (not sure tho since his mom hated both pagan and mohan) but Ajay didnt want any of it.
I think Ishwari did want Ajay to meet Pagan. I mean Mohan literally killed her daughter. You wouldn't want your last child to meet the cult who was created by the man who killed his half-sister, now do you?
The story is more grounded and set around Ajay because the real Far Cry 4 villain is Mohan not Pagan
@@WhyTho525 Who knows what mom wanted. She legit put his life in danger and wound up putting that very cult in power by sending him.
To me, this is a way to really make his character deeper. He didn't want any of that to happen, but he had no choice. Maybe his lack of dialogue was because he was constantly tossing up in his head why the hell he's there in the first place, if he even wants to be doing any of this etc, but he gets too deep into before too long. Imagine if that opening scene happened to you, and your first taste of freedom is after already having killed a bunch of Royal Army soldiers
I would agree. Ajay in my opinion is a victim of circumstance due to his mother Ishwari taking him out of Kyrat at age 3 and fled to the U.S. after his dad and founder of the Golden Path murdered Ajay's half-sister Lakshmana in a fit of jealous rage.
Then, when Ajay began to turn his life around after a few scrapes with the law involving a robbery gone sideways, Ishwari was diagnosed with breast cancer and eventually died with her final wish being for Ajay to have her remains be taken back to Kyrat and placed next to Lakshmana. And thus is the reason for Ajay once again be mixed up in his country's affairs and caught in between which side of the Golden Path should govern Kyrat.
When I first play Far Cry 3 Really feeling like I have a huge connection with Jason Brody and Vaas
Absolutely!!
I just hate how Dani’s motivation is like “oh no my friend died, now I must take down the President and save Yara” it just doesn’t make all that much sense
After i heard this I'm not getting far cry 6 no more but I still want to play the DLC
@@marvenscharleslouissaint1346 it’s a ok game, but it just Far Cry 5 with a jungle overhaul and they even messed up the main selling part of Far Cry 6 ( Giancarlo Esposito ), he was such a small part of the story because they had to make room for so many “Quirky” characters.
I mean it makes more since then Ajay with the batman excuse of dead parents. But since 6 was very boring I put Ajay and Dani in the same league, while Rex and Jason are top bros
Not only that, but the wasted potential for character development, like with Dani’s moments with Diego. Instead we got what felt like slightly downgraded Far Cry 5 characters.
@@realpotassium What I loved about Far Cry 3 was we could see and hear how through the game Jason changed, he became more and more crazy, where in Far Cry 6 Dani is the same from the start of the game to the end
It’s so unfortunate that Ajay just got completely pushed to the side and I think he needed to more present (I understand that that is literally everyone’s opinion)
Yes same he just needs to have more emotion and interactions with the people of kyrat and not be a lapdog for the golden path
Fact is that ajay isnt that good of a protagonist is that he lacks of motives... he didn't have a real motivation to risk hes life and fight the way he does.... why should he?? Becouse of the ashes of hes mom??? Come on... that's not convincing... meanwhile Brody was a normal man having fun... and got into shit where he see family get killed and captured and raped in front of hes eyes.... now that's a fking motive to go crazy and kill everything that moves.... and that's why Jason Brody will be the best protagonist of the far cry series for a long time... motives my ppl... motives is all what matters... not backstory and mommy issue's.....😂😂😂
😏
I really thought they did a good job of making Dani likeable even if they didn't go too far into his/her back story besides the generic "I was an orphan who joined the military". Also, I preferred the female version of the character. I think the voice actor was better than the male one.
I agree the male voice actor just seems up himself where the female fits better in the story and seems more genuine. The relationship between the characters feels a lot more natural
Yes
Ohh idk if you guys noticed this or not ...but dani , female one sings humns along the songs played in the radio of the car while driving sometimes

i really enjoyed how Jason was progressing just as the player, at first he was afraid, cautious, feeling conflicted about killing, but as we get more bold he also starts enjoying being the hunter, laughing when we pull off some creative kills
it was really refreshing to see a main character who lines up so well with the actual gameplay
My favorite is Jason but why is Takkar not included in this video? He was a great protegonist with a lot of depth with the animals stuff and had a great storyline of becoming a leader.
Because Takkar doesn’t speak English
I agree, takkar and ajay are my favourite voiced protagonists in the franchise.
I completely agree. I love the story line of being the leader of your tribe and to grow your village.
Also clifford the fact that you dont speak english doesnt make someone not a protagonist lmao.
@@fencermain4132 the point is you can’t connect with a protagonist if they don’t speak your language
@@Dctctx your acting like there isint subtitles for everything they said.
Just because primal literally created there own language for the game, doesnt mean you should just discredit takkar because you had to read.
Jason def had the best character arc. He starts out as a spoiled rich white frat boy and descends into madness and insanity as he struggles to survive in an environment that wants to kill him and challenges him mentally, emotionally, and physically.
Exactly I like this comment he was forced to adapt same for all farcry characters but his was more meaningful but my personal favorite is ajay ghale from farcry 4 I just wished he talked more put more emotion in and actually helped the country not work for people
Ajay will remain #1 in my honest opinion, farcry 4 might've gotten boring over time but if they reintroduced it or somehow continued the story onward with next gen, then I think it would be great.
Right
I love far cry 4. Can't tell why maximum people don't like or hate it
I don't often play Far Cry games, and I'm glad you made this video.
Yes! I completely agree with your rankings, a great protagonist comes with a great character arc, which is what FC3 did, and it was damn impactful, with the immersion you obviously feel like being him, I think Dani has an arc as well, from wanting to run away to daring to stand up, but like you said it could use a bit more, same as Ajay, I guess that they just want Pagan to feel more impactful so they nerfed Ajay, guy certainly could use some arc in the story. Now you gotta do a ranking for the antagonists, seems obvious who's gonna be No.1 but would be interesting to hear your takes on them as well
It seems obvious but that is until you try to dissect who the real antagonist is in FC3. It’s generally considered vaas but is Hoyt not the main “bad guy”? And if you’ve played the vaas DLC on FC6 you might even consider Citra
@@lukasgus8434 Point taken, but that would be with enemy factions from the main game not DLC (Obviously you are playing as the villains in DLCs). Speaking of which I’m really looking forward to the upcoming Pagan DLC and how Ajay interacts with him
@@michaeltaylor815 I'm so excited for that. FC4 was my favourite in the series and to this day I consider it my favourite game ever. So I can't wait for the pagan DLC to see what kinda things he goes through from his perspective. But to go back to the original comment and reply, not considering DLCs, we (including myself) consider vaas as the villain in 3, but it would be nice if masterassassin also included Hoyt in the discussion.
@@lukasgus8434 True that I agree
@@lukasgus8434 yes I love this comment
To me Jason Brody is the best protagonist of the series. I like his anti-hero vibes and how complex he becomes during the events of FC3, and especially on Vaas DLC where he is portrayed as if he was bat shit crazy. Ajay on the other hand is like an off-brand Jason Brody, he was already fleshed out when you start the game. He is like Rook or Cap but with a voice actor (who did a fantastic job btw).
At least the skills are explained in Far Cry 3, being a mysterious power for Jason, and then we have Ajay, who has the Skills automatically?

Same!
I love the third person cutscenes. I hope they continue this way.
Ngl I like the first person cutscenes, it just gives me that Far Cry feel.
@@spongebob8819 I think we need both, 3rd person cutscenes for big story things, and 1st person cutscenes for smaller things like talking with side characters. Also, killing bosses should always be first person, always. Never will forget stabbing vaas
Meh honestly first person cutscenes are more immersive but 3rd person cutscenes are actually pretty decent too as the previous comment said a bit of both would really be good. Now the MAIN thing that they have to work on in the cutscenes is bringing back the music. Remember when Sitra died in Fc3 the music ending ? Goosebumps, the soundtrack when you meet daisy at dr. Einhardt house, we need more music to emotionally connect with the scene.
More like no cutscenes in Far Cry 5
Vass is my favorite protagonist (far cry 6 dlc) then Jason Brody
He doesn’t count as a protagonist
I love the part when Vaas says "you are me and I am you" only for Jason to ask why won't you die because he really did turn into the insane man that Vaas was
@@romanzupyk6942 yup
Vaas was once like Jason, naive and idiotic
And Jason eventually turned into vaas, sociopathic and insane
@@Dctctx in the Far Cry 6 DLC he is.
@@truetape666 secondary antagonist
recently playing far cry 6's Pagan min's Control DLC really wished they fleshed out Ajay more just like how you mentioned. It contains so much lore and backstory, it would have been so insane to see it in the original game instead of the DLC. I will admit The DLC is a love letter to far cry 4 and It really is badass to play as Pagan tho
This video, but about the assassins creed game worlds would be amazing. Plz do. A ranking of the far cry and ac villains would be sick as well
Note: in far cry 6 the protagonist has additional details, like singing in the car. It has more personality than ever in the far cry series
We have People singing choir 24/7 in Far Cry 5
@@coltforceplayer that's not the same as your main character riding a car singing Havana with your dog or battle chicken beside you. I hate mute protagonists, Far Cry 3 wouldn’t be the same game without "SERPENTINE SERPETINE"
@@mortache Yeah no cause I don't even remember that. The thing is, the mute protagonist fit in Far Cry 5 really well since 5 is the one where monologues fit the most, and above else what the Seed Family wanted to do is to convince you (or condition you). So it wouldn't be the same if the character talked over or interrupted them when they talked. Plus, this time you can't just blame YOUR actions on the protagonist since he doesn't have any personality. Just yours, and you can't control what your fundamental personality is. And I'm not striking the other games, not at all. I think Takkar from Primal is the most likable protagonist in all of Far Cry (my personal favorite). But Far Cry 5 is the most guilt-shaming Far Cry made, so the protagonist talking wouldn't be the same. And yeah sometimes the protagonist talking can be annoying.
I actually prefer Dani over Jason. To me she was more relatable and I really liked her personality, her dynamic with Juan, Diego, El Tigre, Clara, Espada,... Seeing her in 3rd person cutscenes also helped as you could actually see what she was going through and how she was dealing with it. I feel like that definitely made me understand and like her even more. And even though her arc isn't perfect or it doesn't explore things you may wanted it to explore, I honestly love how she goes from someone just wanting to run away, to someone wanting to fight for what's right. Especially her (spoilers for fc6 ending) becoming the leader of libertad feels completely earned, as you spend the whole game recruiting people and fighting for the cause. Her arc maybe isn't as original as Jason's, but I think it's still executed very well.
Honestly I agree with u. Loved Jason, just feel like Dani was more fleshed out.
I was playing as male Dani but after I beat the game I really felt Dani was the true leader of the rebellion how he just wanna leave but until see the horrors or Castillo so I agree with u
Same
The character of Dani was so bare bones, the whole story of Far Cry 6 is easly the worst of them all, it had terrible characters like Talia and Bucho or whatever his name was, it did not have a good pace or flow and the antagonist was also the worst in the series.
@@NN-cm2mh It's a shame that you didn't enjoy the game, but hey, not all games are gonna be your cup of tea. For me it's one of the best games of last year, but I still respect your opinion and I'm not going to try to make you think otherwise. If you didn't like it, you just didn't like it.

Am i the only one who liked the protagonist of far cry 5? I know, he doesn't speak, but he has a cool development in new dawn as a heleper of the father. Idk how but he got something that amazes me
While I will admit Jason's character development was cool, I felt his tendency to let the villains monologue didn't work properly as villains and heroes are meant to work off of each other and he was just another "wrong place, wrong time" everyman. Jason was interesting but I defintely prefer Dani due to the fact that she isn't a wrong place, wrong time protagonist and she actually has proper conversations with each other. She speaks with the other characters and I like that she did have some development from someone who didn't want to stick around for the war turned into it's only hope. Plus, it felt like she had more personality as Jason... felt kinda bland but both are good in their own right but I prefer Dani at the end of the day. Though I will admit that Jason was pretty cool as a villain in Vaas's DLC
Honestly Dani was my favorite protagonist on here, but my favorite of all time was the deputy from Far Cry 5
Jason was definitely the best for me. When I played 4 it felt like Ajay was just so detached from events around him, which makes sense in the context of loss, but not in the middle of a war. And then they just did away with voices for our characters altogether for a while. I haven't played 6 yet so I've still got high hopes.
Facts bro ajay is still my favorite but it felt like he wasn't in the war if you get what I mean he was just their servant he should have focused on the country not pagan

Takkar should be on the list
Yeah, I know Takkar don't speak english, but the went from being a strong man to a leader of his village, and he can have I sabertooth and a big bear as pets, like that sounds epic
Funny how Ajay himself (or at least his voice actor) considers his name to be pronounced as "Aye-jay Gale" but I personally consider his name to be pronounced as "Ah-jay Gah-lay" because it sounds spicier.

Is that a real question tho?? 😂
@@faisalsultan6410 yeah, he's the most badass one
@@Taimur.Shairyar em caveman....
Yeah he's actually my favorite Protagonist
Ajay is my favorite in the series with Takkar being a very very close second. I think Ajay has more of a personality than you think. He just got out of the army and his mom died and once he got to the country couldn’t even put his mom to rest, so I don’t blame him for not talking as much. What I like about him tho is that he doesn’t put up with anyone’s crap and does whatever he needs to do to achieve his goal. And I love seeing him meet everybody and interacting with them. He’s also one of the most bad ass protagonists I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing as like when he jumps off the air plane and blows it up with a grenade or when he takes the guys spot in the chair and knocks paul out with a headbutt, and more. He’s obviously not a perfect protagonist but I think he’s underrated. My favorite thing about him tho is that he defeats everyone that stands in his way and rises to the top and becomes the king.
Me who liked deputy even though he has no personality :"Why are we still here?"
Deputy fucking sucked dude. Having a silent protagonist ruins your chances of having any meaningful dialogue because every conversation is completely one sided, making the game feel very artificial.

Yes exactly they just had him in the country with experience no real emotion
Did Ubisoft think through the jackal carver thing?
The original Far Cry takes place in 2025
But Far Cry 2 takes place in 2008, yet the jackal is supposedly an older version of jack?
Either jack ages in reverse, or they retconned Far Cry 1's setting
Really, set in 2025? That makes it weird for sure, especially since FC2 ends with the Jackal and the player character killing themselves…

Something I always appreciated about Dani is that she (yes, she. Cry about it/j) is constantly searching for and valuing family as she had none growing up. She holds each person she meets close to her and is all the more hurt when they're taken away by Anton or his goons. Even in things like the Stranger Things addon, she risks her life to save Chorizo bcs he's family to her. She has so much potential in that she's one of the only FarCry protagonists to not have known their family. I just wish they explored it more.
sounds more like you just like the character because ''she'' considering you are going out of your way to say ''Cry about it'' immediatly going to agressive defense mode without anyone even saying anything. Personally dani and the deputy are my favorite protagonists. Dani is given a proper explanation regarding how they handle weapons and i like their personality a lot. And the deputy has some great interactions with characters in new damn that show they befriend a lot of the characters from far cry 5.
After Killing Vaas Montenegro , I felt Invincible , like I can not die , I can do anything . That was the moment the game truly began for me . Hoyate( The Slave / Drug Lord) is Just a prey for that I am going to Hunt , I Felt Like A Hunter .
totally agree with the ranking but I think Dani's character deserves more credit. A motif in her story is being the "lucky one", which she defines as having the chance to fullfil her potential and be who is meant to be. Another motif is how power corrupts people, the old legend Lobo, the many hints that Clara might turn out to be another tyrant, and hints that Dani could also be corrupted. So it might not be discussed in depth, but I think Dani goes through a clear character arc, where she starts as someone who just wants to run, but gradually accept the responsibility to change her country, chooses to become who she could have been, and by rejecting to rule the country, she is ultimately staying true to her character and refuse to be consumed by her new found power. She's definetely my favorite protagonist in the seiries by far, from the moment I heard her singing along with the radio

Some villains lack smarts but control their empire through fear and/or faith, some are smart enough to fully recognize who they are and what they are doing; And others are tactful in playing both sides of a conflict (and even the player) to leave a lasting impression.
Hope they make a new Game following from Vaas and Jason again. I don’t know if Ubisoft could ever top FC3 again, it’s purely a golden game
I vote the guy who took out a room full of armed mercenaries in less than a few minutes... Dude _blacked_ out and everything was dead. Meaning while he had an epic knife battle with Hoyt he also managed to kill a multitude of other significant threats... That's an impossible level feat I don't see the others getting out of in the same fashion at all. Jason is a born killer, one that I think might as well be crowned Angel of Death with how many a confirmed kill count again?
I think that Dani and Jason are the best two, but they both win depending on what you rank them on. Jason wins on his contribution and involvement in the story, Dani wins on being the most likeable character, as well as actually having a proper reason to be there.
I very like Jason but my favorite is Takkar. He is protector and he's doing everythink to protect and save Wenja, also of all protagonists he is the strongest one.
I’m terms of strength maybe but as fighters either Jason or Ajay
why are you people so hyped about FC primal??? everytime i hear something about Primal being the best in every aspect lol, while in fact it truly sucks and so even more boring and repetitive than FC 2
@@maripyter fun fact:
Not every one like same things like you
I think he's tied with Jack carver. Let's not forget he fought stronger enemies. Mercenaries, trigens and mutants.
The thing I hate about Jason is his voice cracks and cringy dialog when he escapes with liza
Voice cracks made the character feel real
His voice doesn't have a punch to it and sometimes he sounds silly too.
When he ranked Rojas over Colt I knew I couldn’t trust this list lol
From the Far Cry’s I’ve beaten:
4. Junior Deputy
3. Ajay Ghale
2. Dani Rojas
1: Jason Brody
1. Jason Brody. Easily the best protagonist for me, as well as for a lot of other fans. His story arc felt the most fleshed out and had the best pacing, and his descent into insanity was a trip ride.
2. Takkar. This is mostly because it's just fun running around playing as a Cro-Magnon caveman in prehistoric times, but I also enjoyed his arc of becoming a leader of the Wenja tribe.
3. Ajay Ghale. To be honest, I didn't like Ajay as character. He had the ground work to potentially be the best, but it was handled rather poorly, in my opinion.
4. Dani Rojas. Only placing her here by default, since I haven't played Far Cry 6.
5. Junior Deputy/Security Captain. Pretty easily the worst characters, mainly because they're not even characters at all, they're blank slates with no emotions or dialogue.
I agree with yeah, Jason brody is best because of his backstory
Jason speak,Ajay speak,Danny speak hell even on primal the protagonist speak whatever the hell that was but he speak,I think in fc 2 the protagonist speak to,is pretty much 5 and new dawn I think that are mute!
For me -
1- Dani Rohas
2- Jason Brody
3- Ajay Ghale
4- The Junior Deputy(FC 5).
I like this list but I need to play farcry 6 or watch a movie on it to understand the character
@@marvenscharleslouissaint1346 I think Dani is something creative and different, and that is needed.
We don't need female bond in James bond, but I like female protagonist in Far Cry
I think that the deputationen fit the narrative perfectly in Far Cry 5, it would have been too messy if They had a fully fledched character to play as because the story of Far Cry 5 is much bigger than just one persons journey, it is a much bigger thing, which makes it perfect for having a voiceless character.
Master how many more AC games do you need to review till you rank all the games
Ajay is my number one only bc I played farcry 4 as my intro to the franchise when I was 4 and the fact that I beat the game over 10 times
I think the problem with dani is that he is an orphan, he has no family ties so theres no motivation there, his best friends are in the game for like 5 and 20 minutes respectively and he doesnt react particularly sad in either case.like Jason did when Grant died
I prefer thinking that the Jackal survived FC2 and went on to become Jack Carver from FC1
So no Takkar? *Slams phone on ground viciously*
Dani is just so basic and friendly, to me he seems like allways being friendly not to insult anyone...
Jason. Also in a way Vass too because we get go play as him in dlc for 6 and shows both Vass and Jason were manipulated by citra who in my opinion is the true villain to far Cry 3. Vass and Jason were victims due what she was doing to them both.
Considering she kills Jason if you choose her it's safe to say she was just using him and never loved him
Make a video on sleeping dogs game..if you didn't play it yet I recommend you do😍😍you will love it
My personal list
1.The Deputy (The story of 5 with how it speaks to you personally and the dude is bad ass and doesn’t say a word)
2.Dani Rojas (Very fun as a character and is pretty interesting and feels very real person)
3.Ajay (I really liked him and thought his story was fun)
4.Takkar (Very fun character but have not played much of primal)
5.Jason (He’s ok didn’t really like him or 3 that much but not bed)
6.Captain (just the Dep but like doesn’t have that power 5 brought)
7.Rex (Goofy but there’s not much
8.Jack Carver (have not played 1 yet)
What about Takar?
I like Dani the most, I felt like they did wanted to make them at least as interesting as the villain
Jason and Vaas (thats how you spell his name) fit into the far cry series so well
