Every guy in America had a crush on Linda Ronstadt . Men Women we all loved her and it only grew as she continued her career. She sang everything. A true vocal artist.
Linda's dad was German-Mexican and her mother was German-English. She grew up in Arizona near the Mexican border. Her Mexican Grandfather was a big influence on her and she grew up singing the Mexican songs he taught her. Her whole family was into music and her dad was actually a big band (swing) leader at one time. Linda is an amazing talent and a master of many musical styles including Rock, Country, Broadway and show tunes, Mexican Folk, Big Band, as well as soft easy listening torch songs. You should check out the albums she did with the Newson Riddle Orchestra. She was the highest paid woman in music at one time and was the most successful Female artist in the 1970's.
“AZ near the southern border” Yes, indeed in my hometown of Tucson, where she still resides. (I’ve always been proud of that fact.) Two years ago, Tucson Symphony Hall was renamed The Linda Ronstadt Concert Hall….. a fitting tribute to this amazingly talented musician and gem of humankind.

Yes! And the best version is the live Midnight Special performance. Linda is one of those rare performers whose live performances were frequently better than the studio recording.
She has three Latin albums, two rancheros and one Latin salsa the name of the salsa album is Frenesí. Which is on RUclips live version on the Jay Leno show.
She was always one of the best at starting soft, growing into a full belt, and then dialing it back again seamlessly. She was also the best at conveying emotion; making you feel the song.
I've been a fan of Linda's from her first album, 1960's when she was in the group The Stone Ponys. I was a teen, I'm 68 today. I'm a Southern California native and was able to see Linda MANY times in concerts over the years. Linda, always perfect, always GORGEOUS, her voice NEVER failed her, no matter what genre she sang!!! My ONLY regret was not attending her very first Spanish concert tour!!! I have seen it on RUclips all these years later, impeccable!!! I am and always will be her FANGIRL for life!!! ✨💖✨ 🇺🇸
The birth of the Eagles came from playing back-up for Linda Ronstadt in 1971 before both acts became hit machines with platinum records and sold-out concerts.
Saw her and her back up band which later became the Eagles in 71/72. They were the opening act for the main event, Van Morrison. Will never forget that concert. Pure gold!
Linda was not inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame until after she could no longer perform due to her medical condition preventing her from controlling her vocals well. Asked what took them so long to induct her, comments were made that she sang in so many different genres that it was difficult to classify her into the rock genre. Glenn Frey of the Eagles was the person introducing her to the ceremonial audience and was asked for which genre should Linda receive the HOF award. His reply was: "ALL OF THEM"!
Yes but she was best known for and did her greatest with the 1970's rock and roll era so that should've been good enough for the R&R HOF. It's my favorite. It just seemed when the 80's rolled around that her popularity started to wane (as far as being that superstar) although she made some great albums then. Mad Love did well but Get Closer, which I thought was wonderful, didn't do too well. I think that's when she began contemplating going somewhere else with her career in music. I wanted to the pop/rock sound to stay.
Linda sang everything under the sun. She rocked out(Tumbling Dice), Mexican ballads and Mariachi (Lo Siento Mi Vida, L Charreda), old school country (The Sweetest Gift with Dolly and Emmylou), American Standards (What's New with Nelson Riddle), Light Opera (Pirates of Penzance on Broadway), Motown, lots of Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison, and even Gospel (Mighty Rivers of Babylon). She was the best selling female artist of the 70s, which was something ehen you consider all the women of the era.
What's kinda funny is Linda must've felt the need to kinda jump on the "Jesus people" bandwagon in the 60's when she recorded a song called "We Need a Whole Lot More of Jesus, and a Lot Less Rock and Roll" on one of her first couple solo albums. She'd probably cringe on that song since she's not much of a religious/gospel singer. Probably included it because of the Jesus Movement in the hippie era.
Linda's voice was extraordinary. The power, octave range, accuracy, clarity and pitch were all world class. Among the best ever. What sets Linda apart from any other female voice I have heard is the exquisite feminine sensitivity and emotional expression she conveys in her songs. Her voice is able to reach into your soul and transport it like few others.
If you loved this one, you absolutely have to react to her rendition of "Desperado". The Eagles wrote and released it, but (as the story goes) after Glenn Frey heard her do the song he allegedly told her the song was hers from then on. Not sure if that's true, but once you hear her version of it you have to believe there could be some truth in it! Go immediately to "Desperado"!
Yes that catapulted her into going solo. Mike Nesmith must've made a fortune on that song because it was a huge hit. Did you see her perform it at Hugh Hefner's mansion? Check RUclips, it may be on there.
In the 70's we had Linda Ronstadt and Olivia Newton John. Great voices and easy on the eyes. Today's ears call this country, but we called it soft rock and was considered part of Rock. These type of songs were common and just pure talent. Great Reaction.
That is the very first song I heard her sing in the early 70's and wanted to know more about her. What befuddled me most is of all the concerts I went to (and it was many in the 70's), she would never ever sing this torch song. I could never figure out why she wouldn't. I had so looked forward to hearing it live, but each time she just didn't choose it. Must be some reason for that because it's such a beautiful torch song of lost love and her vocals and heartache in it just sends you to tears.
One in a million voice. I grew up with her In the 70s. Remember the eagles were her back up band before they went out on their own and formed the eagles. She supported them leaving her. Actually encouraged them. And we know tbe rest of that story. Sad that Linda had to retire years ago when she developed Parkinsons Disease . Yes, her father was Mexican heritage. Everything she sings is silk. Her version of the Stones Tumbling Dice is really good. You should check out her first hit with The Stone Poneys, Beat of a Different Drum
Those 2 guys singing with her one is Don Henley and the other is Glen Frye from the Eagles they started as her back up band then with her blessing they went out and for 10 years straight produced hit after hit theres another song by Linda called Mad love I used to listen to when I was young its awesome as well😍🤙
You'll never know how many guys in the '70s had that "conversation" with Linda. Of course, she sang "Long Long Time" and "Love Has No Pride" just for me.
Huge fan of Linda Ronstdt and if you loved her vocals on Blue Bayou and Tracks Of My Tears her song Long Long Time, even after 50 yrs gives me goose bumps
Such a beautiful woman, voice, and song. She kills it. My favorite song of hers is a live version of "Long, Long Time." The expression on her face as she sings it will melt your heart.
Every song she sang was absolutely ennobled by her talent. That sweet woman can do anything. The most talented woman in American music. I saw her singing live in Central Park in the operetta "Pirates of Penzance" beautifully.
Linda sings about 6 or 7 Genres of music. She has the greatest female voice in history. At one time she had the number on song on the country and western, pop, and rock charts. She sing spanish mariachi....and had the largest selling album in Mexican history. listen to La Cigarra. You will he the most powerful female voice you have ever heard. Her back up band before she went solo was THE EAGELS. she did their song Desperado and made it a hit. She did a 3 CD set of Big Band songs with Nelson Riddle....check out What's New live with him and his orchestra. She sang a year on broadway for a year doing opera and sang colorotura soprano...listen to Poor Wandering On...For Rock get Tumbling Dice arranged for her by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. and for pure beauty..ADIOS by Jimmy Webb with Harmonies by Brian wilson of the Beach boys...
Linda rules and we love her. Yes, she has the Latino Lifetime Achievement Award, and sings like a bird! Never a bad tune and she brought you the Eagles after a fashion. You need to play this song below, it's a good one Pegasus but not very long! Kid Rock and Hank Williams - F word
Her Spanish songs are AWESOME - Her "La Charreada" or ""La Cigarra" will blow you away!!! She is of German/Mexican descent from Tuscon Arizona!! She sings in so many different genres it is hard to place her except to say there is a reason the simply call her ""The Voice"" - every female singer wanted to be her & every guy & some gals had a crush on her!!! She also released an "easy listening" album with famed band leader Nelson Riddle who worked with Sinatra, Martin, Darin & most other crooners of the 50-60-70's This is "Great American Songbook" music!! She also did Broadway & Light Opera!!!! She is "The Voice" can't do better than her!!!
Linda Ronstadt joined with Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris for an album, maybe more. You won’t regret listening to them. The Sweetest Gift Those Memories Telling Me Lies To Know Him Is to Love Him
Country seasoning indeed! My favorite Spanish song she does is "La Charreada". Also, a duet she sings with Aaron Neville "I Don't Know Much". Very sultry chemistry in a song she does with Aaron. It caused a few eyebrows to be raised! Aaron has a very unique voice, and it surprises everyone that a man who looks like he does can sing the way he does, which is a very good thing!
This woman has always been one of my top five idols I’m so thrilled that you have discovered her voice. I grew up with her from the 60s. The saddest thing is that she now has Parkinson’s disease and cannot sing anymore. Probably one of the worst things that could happen to someone that has had such an amazing voice and impact on Music over the years and now that is taken from her that’s really sad. But she has left behind some amazing music and being an old white woman that Grew up with this type of music I am just so happy that y’all have discovered it may God bless you all
YES ITS DOPE !!!! "Canciones de Mi Padre" Album by Linda Ronstadt ...Canciones de mi padre is American singer Linda Ronstadt's first album of Mexican traditional Mariachi music.
This song is originally recorded by” smokey Robinson and the miracles” but of course Linda!!! could sing any style so that’s what makes her great❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍👍
The light bearded backup singer is J.D. Souther who passed away days ago. The other is Kenny Edwards, another Stone Pony, who stayed faithful with her band.
Emmylou Harris had a big influence on Linda so that folk music flavor is what you are hearing! Her voice is so smooth and velvety but clear as a bell at the same time. You need to check out her duet with Aaron Neville called “Don’t Know Much” I think you will love it! Really enjoyed this one! ❤️🔥✌🏻🫶🏻
She is one of my favorite singers from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. I have every vinyl record album she made. I still play her CD'S in my car. You need to here hit "You're no good! She has alot of hits. ❤❤
You have to listen to her live version of Desperado and Down So Low it will blow you away. So many to name dig deeper into catalog. Her father was Mexican.
It's hard to explain how popular Linda was & still is. It didn't matter what genre of music you listened to, Linda was included in you're music(just like Karen Carpenter). I loved my Country Music(not the stuff they call country today) & Linda, l considered country. Everyone claims her! That's what happens when you have an outstanding voice. YOU MUST LISTEN TO Linda, Dolly Parton & Emmylou Harris sing together. They are angels with amazing harmonies. They did 2 albums, Trio 1 & Trio 2. Not one song on these albums is close to being bad or just a song to fill the album. So it doesn't really matter what you pick, they're all that good. Even if you don't want to do a reaction, do yourself a favor. Listen to every song on both albums! You will think you died & went to Heaven. There's a funny story. Linda was going to sing with Johnny Cash on his show. They said Linda doesn't like to wear underpants. Well, June Carter Cash, Johnnys wife made someone go out & buy her a pair of underwear. June said "if you're gonna sing with Johnny, you're gonna wear underpants!" 😂 l can just see June saying this!
Singing background music was, Andrew Gold, on guitar, a musical artist whose two biggest hits were, " Thank You For Being a Friend", and "Oh What a Lonely Boy", and Kinney Edwards on bass and vocals. Mike Botts on drums; he was a famous session musician and widely known as the drummer for the 70's band, Bread, and on steel guitar, Danny Kortchmar.
Oh you definitely have to listen to Linda singing LA CIGARRA (Live - 1987) and LA CHARREADA with Mariachi Vargas (Live in 1989). She will blow your mind. Also check out Linda Ronstadt and Aaron Neville duets, especially "Don't know much" (live). Just magic. Jeanette, New Zealand
Her father was Mexican and she grew up in Arizona near the border. She has a lot of family in Mexico. 70 years ago (before Republicans started using immigration for political purposes) the border was a much friendlier place and her parents and siblings traveled back and forth frequently. Her Mariachi music is amazing and well worth a listen. Great reaction. Love your channel 🌺✌️ That guy with the reddish hair and beard singing backup is Andrew Gold. He’s a talented musician and songwriter. One of the songs he wrote is “Thank You For Being a Friend”. I notice you use a version of it on your channel and, of course, it was the theme song for the sitcom “Golden Girls”. 🌸
Linda Ronstadt's cover & John Rivers' 1967 original are both terrific! I've always loved her voice and was saddened to learn that she's having to give up singing for medical reasons. Thanks for playing this & your comments.
That be so, but for the record - “The Tracks of My Tears” was written in 1965 by William “Smokey” Robinson, Jr., Warren Moore and Marv Tarplin, three members of the Miracles. The group recorded it in Studio A of Motown's Hitsville USA facility, with the Miracles' lead singer, Smokey Robinson, as producer.
She always had the BEST musicians, because she was the top singer of her time. She was the only woman on the music tours. She could and did any genre from light opera to country to Salsa to ballads to hard rock! She dated Presidential candidates and governors, but also shacked up with down and out songwriters (please play WILLIN').
Thank you for reacting to this! I love Linda and this is my favorite rendition of this song! You must listen to more of her. Whichever song you pick will be amazing! ❤
Glorious important pure pipes. In person she was transformational for tough guys. No one came close vocally, surrounded by devoted players, she had a way with our hearts.
Oh man! You should've lived it in the 70's! Live and in living color her beauty and her voice! I saw her every time she passed through Cincinnati touring every new album release. Nothing like living those days! 😳Dude you look like you're gonna cry. Ain't she great? Ain't nothing like the music from the 60's and 70's, my generation. Linda the best!
I was SO jealous of Linda when I was in my teens and twenties. She seemed to have it all. Gorgeous face, good physique, unlimited voice, and she looked beautiful when she was singing (some people do not look attractive while singing!). I do not think I have ever seen you be so mesmerized by a woman before. She had all of America mesmerized too so you are in good company. Great reaction. 😍

All 4/4 Mutt Lange stuff, but the fills are crazy. The cymbals, the drumming patterns. It's mind boggling. Enjoy. Here is one ruclips.net/video/IBsoJqN90p8/видео.htmlsi=yVXvNWbJctK1IIZj
"There are two types of men. Men who have a crush on Linda and men who have never heard of her".. Willie Nelson.
Everything she sings is silk. Her version of the Stones Tumbling Dice is really good. You should check out her first hit with The Stone Poneys, Beat of a Different Drum
A 5’2” power-house!! Definitely one of the best female singers ever to hit the stage!
Those 2 guys singing with her one is Don Henley and the other is Glen Frye from the Eagles they started as her back up band then with her blessing they went out and for 10 years straight produced hit after hit theres another song by Linda called Mad love I used to listen to when I was young its awesome as well😍🤙
Everybody loves Linda's voice!
She was fantastic to see her live in concert. What a voice.
Poor Poor Pitiful me is a great one! 🎉
Great Warren Zevon tune!
blue bayou shows off her range better.
Written by the great Warren Zevon!
You MUST SEE Smokey and Linda sing this together on the Motown 25th Anniversary.
You'll never know how many guys in the '70s had that "conversation" with Linda. Of course, she sang "Long Long Time" and "Love Has No Pride" just for me.
She was a master of many Genres. See her work with Nelson Riddle such as the album Lush Life. She even sang operetta.
Huge fan of Linda Ronstdt and if you loved her vocals on Blue Bayou and Tracks Of My Tears her song Long Long Time, even after 50 yrs gives me goose bumps
I saw her in concert in Detroit . She sings everything and yes she has a Spanish album. As she has a Mexican background .
Such a beautiful woman, voice, and song. She kills it. My favorite song of hers is a live version of "Long, Long Time." The expression on her face as she sings it will melt your heart.
One of my favorites. Thanks for the reaction. Yes, she put out a Spanish record. You name it and she's probably done it.
Saw her live a few times in the 70s and 80s, and her voice was as powerful live as in the studio.
Perfect pitch, perfect Linda. She could sing the phonebook and we would love it.❤🎉
This was beautiful for mother's Day thank you so much❤❤❤❤
Linda rules and we love her. Yes, she has the Latino Lifetime Achievement Award, and sings like a bird! Never a bad tune and she brought you the Eagles after a fashion.
You need to play this song below, it's a good one Pegasus but not very long!
Kid Rock and Hank Williams - F word
She had an wonderful voice and everyone loved her and her music
The Sweetest Gift
Those Memories
Telling Me Lies
To Know Him Is to Love Him
First women in music to fill stadiums for her concerts !
You really should check out her cover of Smokey Robinson's song Ooh Baby Baby. It is 🔥🔥
You want to hear her peel the bark off the wall? Her recording of Heat Wave.
You're No Good or When Will I be Loved...both great songs by Linda.
But she has left behind some amazing music and being an old white woman that Grew up with this type of music I am just so happy that y’all have discovered it may God bless you all
Welcome to the club bro. We been crushing on Linda since 1980.
YES ITS DOPE !!!!
"Canciones de Mi Padre"
Album by Linda Ronstadt ...Canciones de mi padre is American singer Linda Ronstadt's first album of Mexican traditional Mariachi music.
THIS ALBUM WON A GRAMMY AWARD !!!
Love Linda. 💗
🌿🌷 Beautiful to see & hear.
Love her and also Rita Coolidge both my favorites from the 70's. Thanks
This song is originally recorded by” smokey Robinson and the miracles” but of course Linda!!! could sing any style so that’s what makes her great❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍👍
The red headed backer singing and playing the guitar is Andrew Gold(Lonely Boy, Thank You for Bring a Friend)
The light bearded backup singer is J.D. Souther who passed away days ago. The other is Kenny Edwards, another Stone Pony, who stayed faithful with her band.
That’s Andrew Gold not JD
Love Linda and love this song, thanks BP, hope the family are good ❤
Linda Ronstadt is my all-time favorite Hispanic singer!!! Grandparents grandparents were born in Mexico!!!👍👍👍👍
Linda was doing folk and country long before she met Emmylou Harris.
La Charreada - Linda Ronstadt and Mariachi Vargas (Live)
She is one of my favorite singers from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. I have every vinyl record album she made. I still play her CD'S in my car. You need to here hit "You're no good! She has alot of hits. ❤❤
You have to listen to her live version of Desperado and Down So Low it will blow you away. So many to name dig deeper into catalog. Her father was Mexican.
Always loved "Silver threads & golden needles'"
Definitely, please listen to Linda sing La Charreada! She’s amazing singing in Spanish.
Most beautiful woman ❤ You're no good is a must my friend. Peace out ✌️ ☮️
BP you are so real with your reactions I Love It❤
Singing background music was, Andrew Gold, on guitar, a musical artist whose two biggest hits were, " Thank You For Being a Friend", and "Oh What a Lonely Boy", and Kinney Edwards on bass and vocals.
Soul touching voice 💖🏴
Si, fuego! So the next one should be "La Charreada" from her album Canciones De Mi Padre.
I agree. Your next Linda reaction should be La Charreada. It'll blow you away.
Her performance of "La Cigarra" is amazing.
You should see the video of Motown 25, where Linda and Smokey sing this song together!
Ronstadt is virtually the perfect vocalist. Dig in.
My first concert ever- Mile High/Denver early 70’s - Eagles & Linda Ronstadt-EPIC
