I usually dont comment but this video was great. Straight to the point and has awsome tips. I did not know his dragonlash was +2 if you crouch blocked I just through that move was always plus I I just always blocked after and tried to react to grab thank you sm for the tips
Thank you so much for taking the time to comment! I always try my best to make guides and content that can help as many people as possible without being overly long. I’m so glad that you found this helpful!
I think another good (but harder) option for dealing with dragon lash kick is to try to perfect parry. I know there's that set with AngryBird and Kakeru from a couple months ago (was it Game8?) where that option did serious work. It's also less punishable if you mess it up, unlike DI or anti-airing.
Very true! I didn’t include that because by now in the game’s life I feel like it’s kind of common sense. I tried to focus on some things that players may not have realized yet. But yes, PP is a great option!!
A good option I've seen from Brian F is to drive parry and input a drive reversal after as an option select. If you're too early and get a normal parry, it'll give you a bit of meter first which mitigates the drive reversal cost. If you perfect parry, the reversal won't come out and you have plenty of time to react and punish.
Hey Chris! Thanks for the great content as always. Just a tip, but I'd recommend using a pop filter when recording your voice track. You tend to have very pronounced "p" and "b" sounds and this is an easy fix. Let me know if you have any questions!
I recently got a new mic and I’m absolutely not used to it yet. I was using a pop filter too😭 I’ll try some different placements and see if that helps and if not, I’ll let you know! Thank you for the help!!!
@@Chris_F For sure! Moving a little further away from the mic can help a lot. During post you can also try rolling off more of the low frequencies before applying compression.
I'm a ken player, what's frustrating about stopping this is that it takes very little skill for Ken to implement these tactics, but requires a lot of skill, knowledge and reactions to stop them, which is pretty frustrating for the other person.
Very well said! The "ease of use" is part of his strength, thus the feeling that he can get away with everything while you can't make a single mistake. However, labor omnes vincit improbus, right? ;-)
Thanks for the info. Not sure on the Jinrai invuln reversal for my main, but lv1 super, LP, or something may help. If I ever manage to get online, hope to remember & apply those.
More to come! I might wait until the big balance patch though, I don’t want to put time and effort into something that could be irrelevant in two months or so
I think it’d be hilarious if you made a “5 tips for beating” video for all characters, except for your least favorite character where you make it “27 tips for beating” them. Also great video as always haha.
hey chris, off topic question but can you tell me how i can cancel a crouch lp into lvl 1? im usin luke and its so hard, is there a shortcut or do i have to be super fast with the qcf ? im usin the haute42 leverless btw. would apprecaite any help
Few more tips: Ken does not get any real oki after back throw. If you see him go green, you can jab him out of it. If Ken ever does the punch target combo on block, you can mash DP, he'll either cancel into OD fireball or take the guaranteed damage. Technically he can DR into a low to beat that, but I've never seen anyone do this, other than marisa players, and you can just block if you see the drive rush. If you block the second hit of the MK target combo, punish with a crouching move, because the third hit will frame trap if you try to punish with a standing move. Run tatsu is only -8 on block, not all punishes work, especially in Burnout. Cr. MK is -2 on regular hit, take your turn back.
If someone is spamming jinrai follow-ups, u can di and he can't di back. He would have to do no follow up and di next time. It'll make him scared at least. And if he stops following up he's- 11
I thought the alternate terminology for heavy kick was roundhouse, not hard kick? Am I tripping? Likewise I thought standing heavy punch was called a fierce, not a hard.
It’s not just Ken, it’s important to know the basic matchup strats and counters versus ANY character - Ken is just very popular so I decided to make this
Good morning sir. I’m having trouble when he dr low kicks me to set up his combos. It’s so fast every time and once he lands that one kick 1/3 of my hp is gone. Same with Ryu.. (cammy player btw)
@@Chris_F upon watching this video i realised i never really close range hadoken, should i be? i feel like at that range it would be better to poke or try to quickdash or drive rush
@@Chris_F also can you please make a guide for fighting juri there arent many around and shes quite commonly played online as well as my friend playing her in couch co op
1:16 he makes two different noises for the SHORT KICK (I refuse to use zoomer simplified notation) and FORWARD kick Jinrai kicks. They have different pitches so you can actually audio cue all 3 strengths. Just go to training mode, pick Ken and do the different strength Jinrais with your eyes closed so you can focus on hearing the different sounds he makes for each strength.
Lol here is the true anti ken tech mash jab an run 🏃♀️ nuetral jump every dragon lash ken is one of the most annoying and cheap characters in sf6 and boring to watch just play lame to beat him dont over extend as his cr mk has stupid range make ken players get annoyed by u playing lame

@@Chris_F And again, thank you for producing such great SF6 videos. I've learned a lot from you!
Yeah absolutely agree, pop filter would be appreciated.
I never knew there was a difference in blocking drangonlash standing v crouching, thats good to know.
Very important!
Best anti character guide I’ve seen so far. Do all the characters!
Working on it!

This is a prime example why I partially hate sf6

Good stuff for Ken mains to be more solid!
Definitely!
Bro what a magnificent guide. Thank you for this!
Glad you enjoyed it!
still helps to this day broski, thx 💙
That was a great video. Can you also do one for e.honda ? I really struggle to beat him with cammy, lack of fireball really hurts.
I have a huge backlog of videos to finish but I’ll try to get to this! Thanks for watching
Would love to see more of this, Im still kinda new to the channel so idk if youve actually done some other vids like this already hehe...

Amazingly useful and concise!

Pretty sure I have a RUclips short on this. Check my short for the cammy lvl 3 shortcut, the inputs are the same for luke lvl 1!

As a Marisa player, it's very true that we often follow standing MPx2 DR crouch LK ^^
When people says ken got the best version or one of the best version of each button, he literally got a better rekka than the rekka guy, Jamie
Jamie is a few balance changes away from being super top tier IMO
I think he already is low A which ic pretty good
If someone is spamming jinrai follow-ups, u can di and he can't di back. He would have to do no follow up and di next time. It'll make him scared at least. And if he stops following up he's- 11
Not true. He can DI back. Maybe only if you are late. Maybe always depending on version
Would like to add if you’re going to drive reversal an ex fireball to dr, try to parry the fireball so you don’t lose as much drive meter
Great point!
I thought the alternate terminology for heavy kick was roundhouse, not hard kick? Am I tripping? Likewise I thought standing heavy punch was called a fierce, not a hard.
You’re right! Can you tell I’ve been balancing too many games🥹
@@Chris_F Been playing Tekken?
Also Ken players after a blocked s.LK likes to s.HK. if u microwalk and block the s.HK, you can punish it with s.LK counter at certain close range.
Thanks, still think it's crazy the character is so good you have to have tutorials to get tips on winning...

Best solution is to play better neutral and try to stay out of his cr mk range and either counter poke Ken more or whiff punish his cr mk
Step 6: Most Kens you meet will literally kill themselves if you stay calm
I have honestly meet hondas that are less predictable than juris and kens in plat
I live in Japan but I’ve found the ken players here to generally be pretty good in master rank

Why wouldn't they do the heavy version all the time? How to deal with the overhead mix
Heavy doesn’t always combo from normals

@@Chris_F sorry what comment is this responding to?
Perfect tips for me to beat up my Ken player friend😂
Frame 1 thumbs up
Thanks as always my man!!
The question is why any ken would use the low or medium jinrai instead of the high if the high is safe while the other two are unsafe.
Bc the heavy version is too slow to combo into on hit
I would like to see an anti marisa guide
Life has been very busy lately and I’m working through a backlog. I ask for your patience but I will try to get this out if I can
The heavy dragon lash can lose to jab too
I hate Jinrai so much haha
Didn't think i'd ever hear you recommend a drive reversal, a mechanic you famously disklike?
Drive reversal usually sucks BUT if you use it in guaranteed situations it can be useful!!
I use drive reversal a lot when I'm cornered and they know how to play that.

As much as I agree with this, sound becomes unreliable at tournaments since headphones aren’t always available
