This is the absolute best how to video ever ! I easily changed my cabin filter and boy was it clogged . Garage wanted $150.00 to remove the old filter & replace with a new one . I am not kidding . I ordered a new replacement filter from amazon for about $20.00 and this video made it so easy to install . Thanks so much for posting this video , directions were spot on perfect 😊
Perfect teacher! Thank you very, very much! As a single mother with no help and these mechanics wanting to charge so much, I feel so proud for changing this myself. God bless you! 💕
I NEED THIS MAN TO EXPLAIN EVERYTHING TO ME!!! he is only rivaled by my dad (an incredibly handy person who seems to know everything about everything when it comes to cars and machines) but I wanted to accomplish this on my own without paying jiffy lube’s $50 or asking my dad. SUPER EASY! this guy is awesome. THANK YOU! just worked on my 2020 crv!!!

I love your one handed technique. : ) Thank you for posting this, especially the part where the little arm needs to be released. That would be something that I inadvertently break.
Great video! I’ve never had a car with a cabin air filter so was sweating how much Honda would charge. Now I see it’s easy ass hell and undoubtedly MUCH cheaper than Honda, I’ll do this on my own.
Most of what is shown here, seems easy enough. The problem I've had is in helping a friend do hers, that latch on the right, I was pushing with all my might, and it wouldn't release! I didn't want to break it, so I gave up! But I'll be trying again tomorrow, and wonder why most push away easier than others?
Honda quotes an insane price for changing this filter! I think my quote was over $50. Thanks for this clear video. I'm doing this after work. I also change my own engine air filter because HELLO - cheaper to do it yourself, and that one is easier to access. Also thanks for getting in close to really show details. Recently I felt like such a grownup when I changed the cabin light bulb up top! LOL. Car manufacturers make opening things so weird and difficult. Women should design the dashboards for easy access to those too.
You had the best description so far, you should mention some of the bad things that could go on if not changed. And then offer a EBay page and you sell the filters. Bingo-$, but you were. Best so far
THANK YOU DUDE!!! I got something stuck behind glove box and I knew it had to do with that arm but I didn't want to break it!!! HAPPY WINTER SOLSTICE!!!!
Perfect. Exactly as I found it when I came to my CRV (apart from everything being the other way round, as I'm over the other side of the pond 🙂). Many thanks.
Eeek! After watching your excellent video, I easily took down the glove box. Then I saw what I thought was insulation. Rewatched your video and saw it was clean. Took out the old filter and discovered lots of rodent poop. Ugh. Hopefully it cleaned out most of the crap. Thanks for a great how to video!
AwkwardHamster There was lots of insulation like stuff they took from somewhere to make a soft, cozy bed. Can’t believe they charge over $100 to replace a $20 filter. Thanks to you, saved at least $80. Also replaced the dirty air filter.
Easy peasy. Thanks. Dealer wanted $175.00 to do this!! He told me the filter was dirty and had it in his hands showing me. I said ok, put a new one in. He said that they have to pull the blower and sanitize it when they put in a new filter! Would not put in a new filter without doing that! I told him to put the old one back. Wal-Mart, less than twenty bucks and ten minutes....done! Thanks!
Their website shows which model can be used for which car. If you live in USA, Amazon also has a part compatibility checker. Find the part in Amazon, add your car to the Amazon garage, then it’ll let you know if it fits or you can search for only parts that fits your car.
I own a 2015 Honda cry ,it seems as though the printing on the filter was placed in the direction of the driers side(L) as a new driver ,or only goes fit one way
I'll echo what Mike said just below me. I'd especially like to thank you for pointing out that you just need to PUSH that little plastic clip at the bottom of the glove box. I was terrified of breaking it, and having to go buy ANOTHER part to finish this simple task.
On the plastic section where I inserted the new filter has an arrow to show which direction to air flows. When I inset the new filter, I had the filter arrow point towards the same direction.
The confusion is that the original filter he took out slides in 'portrait' but his replacement goes in landscape. Air flow arrow on both points down toward floor board. The filters are not perfect squares, they are rectangles so only fit all the way in if inserted correctly. Just be sure arrow for air flow down. Also note when in correctly 'pleats' are landscape, ie form lines in pleats that travel from passenger door to driver door.

the part where you unattach the holding bracket to release the glove box is not clear. Mine does not want to release. He is not clear on which way to push it and the picture in there is dark. 🤔
Last week my local Honda dealership told me it would cost $250 to change this filter on my 2016 CR-V! I thought that meant lots of labor and disassembly time. Not so! This is the worst example I've seen of a dealer overcharging for a quick and easy repair!
I may have over reacted....that amount apparently included the filter PLUS a cleaning of the A/C evaporator coil to remove debris and contamination left behind by pests that built the nest on my cabin air filter. I guess more labor to get to the evap coil might justify the $250...I don't know. I also don't know if such a cleaning REALLY needed. But I used your video and just put on a new filter for $18! I'll worry about cleaning the evap coil later!
GREAT vid! It took me 2 weeks to summon up the courage and then less than 2 minutes to do the job, thanks to your perfect coaching!
Awesome

I'm so thrilled! I actually was able to change my filter instead of paying Honda dealership $75 (This is what they quoted me). THANK YOU!!!
You’re welcome

Excellent
WITH THE LIGHT WE COULD SEE WHAT YOU WERE DOING COMPARED TO THE OTHER VIDEOS GOOD JOB
FANTASTIC demo.. The light made all the difference to my apprehension!! Thank you!!!
Glad to hear this helped.
I watched other videos, none of them helped until I found yours! Thank you so much! 🙏
Great to hear
I highly recommend doing this during warm or hot weather. Plastic gets very brittle in cold/arctic temperatures.

Thought I would give this a try. It took longer to clean out the glove box then to remove and install new filter. Thanks for posting.
Same thing happened to me. Good part of all that was I realized my insurance card expired and needed to print a new one.
lol

Works for 2018 CR-V as well. Super easy! Thanks!
Great to hear
Thank you so much. A friend told me about your channel and how easy this was to do. Crazy thing us the Dealership charges $59 & up to change it
Love hearing good news

I believe you just saved me at least $70!!!! They charge $99 to do that in the authorized dealer! Thanks a lot
Awesome
Great job of showing how to change filter. Thanks
Thanks
Was the arrow up or down?
That was very well presented and well explained video. Thank you for your time and effort. 🎉
Thanks
Great demonstration!
Thank you
It appears that there's a few different FRAM filter numbers that can be used - how do we know which one is the right one?
Their website shows which model can be used for which car. If you live in USA, Amazon also has a part compatibility checker. Find the part in Amazon, add your car to the Amazon garage, then it’ll let you know if it fits or you can search for only parts that fits your car.

The filter itself can flip but it’s better to line the airflow direction arrow with what is labeled on the car plastic piece.
Good 👍 thank you that was a very good help
Thanks
Awesome guide tnx, keep up the good job with videos for crv

Which way is the air flow thu? Just look at the arrows of the filter as you pull it out. Arrow is down.
Air flows from top to bottom. On your vehicle there should be an arrow printed next to where you inset the new air filter.
@@AwkwardHamster nice ty
I don't understand how the arrow on the new filter corresponds to the direction of the air flow compartment. It looks like you turned it sideways?
On the plastic section where I inserted the new filter has an arrow to show which direction to air flows. When I inset the new filter, I had the filter arrow point towards the same direction.
The confusion is that the original filter he took out slides in 'portrait' but his replacement goes in landscape. Air flow arrow on both points down toward floor board. @@stevevenn1Thanks for the helpful tips!
Thank you very much, very helpful
Thanks for watching
Does it matter witch side of airfilter you push in first
I think the filter is a square so no, side doesn’t matter. What matters is following the airflow directional arrow.
@@AwkwardHamster thank you. Really good video.

I did it myself!!
You're awesome!!!
Sweet
the part where you unattach the holding bracket to release the glove box is not clear. Mine does not want to release. He is not clear on which way to push it and the picture in there is dark. 🤔
Instead of paying $60 at the oil change place I paid $20 and did it myself in a minute thanks to this video.
Glad to hear this helped.
Liked your video so much, I liked and subscribed.
Cool! Thanks. I had the dealership do it once for 50 to 60 bucks! What I rip off. Thanks for the good video!
Thanks for watching
What car computer do you use?
I’m not sure what you mean. I didn’t need to use a car computer to change the filter.
You deserve a LIKE thumb :)
Thanks
EXCELLENT VIDEO!!
Thanks!
You’re welcome
Good information. Please hold your camera still. I was getting dizzy.
Sorry about that
Good job. 👍 Only thing I would do different is buy a brand that's not made in China.
Thanks.
You’re welcome
Great demo thank you
Thanks bro
Thumbs up fir u
Thank you
So I found out my dealership or factory installed my filter backwards! The arrow was pointing up...
Did it say up next to the arrow or did it say air flow. That does make a difference, you know.
Good job 😄😄👍👍👍
Thank you
Thanks, saved about 40 dollars of labor.
Excellent
My car must have a dead rodent in it. Must be cabin filter or air filter. Thoughts?😢
This summer I’ll make a video of now I use disinfectant spray to clean the vents. Others have made similar videos too.
Thank you. Stealership wants $40 labor + $20 Filter to do this.

$153 for parts and labour
What really confuses me still is the “air flow indicator”...it’s not at all clear what it’s indicating! Cool, an arrow...WHAT ARE YOU TELLING ME?! Lol
👏👏
Dealership are charging a fortune to do this job damn RATS
Wow they just tried to charge me $56 for this!
Wow
