Artillery level contributions to siege +1 is my shot for the most obscure and unknown modifier in eu4. The only place it's in, is in that espi/divine policy. -It does not add 1 siege level to forts, like infra/off or the age of revolutions ability. No, instead it makes all your artillety count double. So 5K artillery joining a siege now counts as 10K when calculating their contribution to the roll- I did the thing, I left a comment before finishing the video, point and laugh everyone
as a no-dlc player, i absolutely love europa expanded. i recently had a super fun campaign as friesland, just basically spreading communism everywhere, definitely recommend :D
Fun fact about that cracked general, Cesare Borgia: He's Jesus! I... really wish I was kidding, but no. He is the model for Jesus in art since his dad, Pope Alexandre VI, made many church artist use him as reference... And people have been copying that same model since. There's some extra darker context that's not very fun for a YT comment, so I'll leave that theory/history out. The Borja Papacy was... an interesting time for Catholics, and was a major push towards the reformation in a way.
Slight Correction for the Palace of Naples event. While Trade Centres do downgrade when annexing a vassal, Monuments don't, so if you take the top option you do get a permanent benefit that you keep after annexing Naples. It wasn't that way at Launch of Leviathan, but got patched pretty quickly.
Loving the Modded Eu4 content. However, I desperately recommend you play the sub-mod to ante Bellum "Lost World" and play as the Byzantines. Trust me it's amazing and incredibly in-depth!
Europa Expanded is truly one of the mods of all time. I did a MP campaign with two other friends recently as Portugal and just the QoL changes ALONE make the mod worth while (ie seizing at war, estate reworks, use favors to transfer occupation from ai allies, etc). Not to mention the amazing new Mission Trees in the Terra Incognita Update. Its Awesome all around!
47:10 caliph never had that kind of significance after the abbasids perished. In fact Turkey was the nation that abolished caliphate, nothing really changed
yeah, but i still find cool that at least there's a caliph mechanic, in vanilla is there just a small prestige decision "claim the title of Caliph" its really weird as it implies that every muslim country has a caliph which isnt the case, i think the caliphate thing just makes the mamluks more historical and the ottoman seizing of the caliphate a feature on game, also you arent wrong, as they were powerless puppets used to justify the rule of others, but the symbolical hostage of the caliphs on christian hands might have some actual significance id think...
in fact, shias didn't have any caliphs except. Mohamad, Ali ibn abi Talib and Hasan ibn Ali. all others were 10 more imams who weren't landed. and they didn't get there beyond the early 10th. century and they were all hostile towards suni caliphs especially abaasid one, so it completely makes sense Suni caliph doesn't affect Shia Muslims
europa expanded lets you seize land while at war as long as you are less then 10% occupied (it might be 15%) 31:24
great change tbh
based?
