Hi! I’ve been really enjoying watching your Keio videos, they are very helpful!! I’m going to apply to some Japanese universities next year, and I believe Keio will be one of them. My only concern is this; I know I want to go to a Japanese university, and I’ve been looking at ones such as Keio, waseda, and Sophia, but I’ve never taken an economics class and am not even sure if that’s what I want to do (which is important speaking of the fact that PEARL is an economics major). I could maybe take an econ class next year and see how it goes? Or maybe just apply to the others? Keio just stands out to me because my Japanese tutor went there lol, what do u recommend i do?

Aw, thank you so much for watching my videos! I'm glad to hear that you're considering coming to Keio! Many of my friends studying in PEARL didn't take economics or business-related classes in high school, so I don't think your high school courses necessarily impact your admission. However, I strongly do recommend taking econ-related courses in high school or outside of school just because this program is focused on learning economics (not business!). Unlike universities in the States, it can be quite challenging to change your major mid-semester, so if possible, try taking some economics classes beforehand!

@@sojin_in_tokyoOf course!! I actually just talked to my councillor and she also said it would be a good idea for me to take an economics class next year and loved the idea of me going to Japan. Although in something like my essay, how am I supposed to talk about my “passion” for economics even though I’ve had basically no experience with it, and at the time of my application, won’t even really know 100% it’s what I want to do? I want to apply but my real decision will come later after seeing if I actually enjoyed my economics class in high school lol. I’m not sure if there’s any other ways I can see if it’s something I’m passionate about before I apply? Sorry for the long list of questions and thanks a lot for the help 😭

@@sojin_in_tokyoI do really like Keio though, my Japanese tutor of about 8 years now went there so it’s always been a significant place to me lol. Just yesterday I was looking at dorms such as motosumiyashi and plume IS, and the fact that you can get basically an apartment style dorm in walking distance to Hiyoshi campus is super amazing and motivating. Although how is it being kinda far away from the main city? I feel like it’s a downside but I’m wondering what your thoughts on it are? Thank you!
