Jennifer was going through her own divorce due to her husband cheating! The song is from the view of the "Other woman"! Her emotions were very much REAL!!! A POWERFUL song!
@barryhickman6911 Jennifer’s husband, Todd, did not cheat. Her new found success, touring, their work schedules, put a strain on their relationship they couldn’t overcome. That’s why she’s so sad in the video. She was truly heartbroken.
@@juliepodlewski9528 it’s not from the wife’s point of view. Jennifer wrote this after hearing Reba McEntire’s Whoever’s In New England, about a wife who’s husband is cheating. She decided to write a song from the Other Woman’s point of view, a side that’s not written about. It’s also not anything to do with her husband, she has said he didn’t cheat. She was just heartbroken, and it came out during filming.
Just one more little bit of information on the song. It was done in one take in the studio because Jennifer could not emotionally sing the song a second time.
I love how she says, "why don't you stay" as meaning stay with her and then stay with your wife. Full circle was a good choice of words to describe her character in this song.
Nettles was inspired to write this song by Reba's 1986 song "Whoever's In New England", which is a woman addressing her unfaithful husband. She thought it would be an interesting approach to write a song from the POV of the mistress. The tears in the video were not planned or fake, she felt overcome with emotion while singing. Kristian was concerned about her and wanted to clear the room, but she wanted to keep going. I think the results speak for themselves!
They wanted another take but Kristian said no, Jennifer had had enough. They didn't do another take which is why she isn't singing in some of the video.
Meet Jennifer Nettles, one of the greatest voices you never knew you needed! I've been a huge fan of hers since she was playing in dives here in Atlanta in the 90s. She won a Grammy for songwriting and they (Sugarland) won a Grammy for this performance in 2008.
Hi Saeed. What a truly agonizing song. Agonizing for both women. He wanted his cake and to eat it too, is what we call this. Never satisfied with 1 woman, so he strings them both along. He'll never leave his wife. In his mind, he has it made. This happens quite a lot. Her tears are real, her emotions are real. This is the kind of song that brings me to tears. While I'm here, let me add 1 artist that'll break your heart with her songs. 1 in particular is "She's Got You," written in 1961 by Hank Cochran, but more importantly, the song was released in 1962 by Patsy Cline. Patsy has a voice like no other..instantly recognizable as soon as she opens her mouth. There might be a video of her singing it which would be well worth watching. Beautiful woman lost too soon in a plane crash. Thank you for your reaction to Sugarland.❤😊
This was very powerful and moving. I believe Patsy Cline was ony my list. Will check. Definitely want to explore her music as well. Much to look forward to 😃 Thanks so much for watching.
Sometimes, if you have a beautiful voice, a guitar accompaniment, a heartfelt song and good expressiveness, a simple video like this is enough to achieve a moving result, nothing else is needed. Another one on my playlist. 👋✌️
Jennifer Nettles and Sugarland have done some truly amazing stuff and much of it is upbeat and fun. For something entirely different, watch the official video or the live version of Sugarland's "Down in Mississippi (And Up to No Good)." If you wear socks, this song will knock them off.
Jennnifer Nettles has an amazing, amazing voice. And the emotion she pours into this song, especially in this video, is heart-wrenching. Country music take a tough, clear look at the struggles of real lives. This just feels real - maybe too real for some. But this song ends well, the mistress tells that man to stop coming around!
Great band and a powerful song by Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush. I have seen them a couple of times with Kenny Chesney and was always loved by the crowd.❤Stay safe
Point of view of the "other woman".. The guy will never leave the wife! Realizing that truth, and he's using her. Since the singer was married to a guy who cheated on her.. I am amazed at her insight to the situation..
FYI she wrote this after divorced her husband after he was caught cheating red handed. To help cope wrote from other woman's perspective. Very well done. That's why she's so emotional in this
It's a great song and performance. Sad. But the elephant in the room, that no reactors are willing to say, - she's beautiful. And, every guy (and some women) just want to give her a hug.
You want to listen to a song with emotion check out Pat Benatar “Hell is for children”. This song was written by Sugarland. Now makeup, hair not straightened out, and she show real emotion.
Please react to Patti labelle - somewhere over the rainbow live Apollo theater 1989! She is the godmother of soul and she BLOWS the roof the building in this performance! 🙏🏽
I found out i was with a married man months after the fact . I was in love.ans felt this. But i ended it. Because it was painful. I wasn't gonna wait for him to end it with his wife. I was done . To be in love with someone that lies to you is hurtful
When this was released I found an article about making this video. They had to keep redoing it because the emotions were too much. The problem wasn't Jennifer's emotions but Kristian's emotions. He's very protective of her and knowing what she was going through in her personal life made it almost impossible for him not to show emotions. But if you watch it and focus on his eyes, you can tell how upset he is. I think it was brilliant to do this video with just them...nothing else that might distract a person watching it.
❤❤ I know you like the story songs, so you should check out these two if you havent already... they are technically "short films" - "Cover Me Up" The Short film, Morgan Wallen (This is directed by the same person that did "Wait in the Truck" - "All Too Well" The Short Film, Taylor Swift Written and directed by Taylor Swift ❤❤
I havent yet. All too Well is on my list. A lot of subscribers told me to check out the lyric video first and then the short film. So i might do it that way. Had not heard of Cover me Up yet. Putting that one on my list as well. Thanks !
I'm sorry I just don't see the appeal to the song like everybody else maybe because I actually listen to the words the song is about her being upset that the man the married man that she's cheating with is leaving to be with his wife instead of with her so tell me exactly why I'm supposed to feel sad with this song listen to the words and not the melody the song is horrible
To each their own. I like songs that talk about a variety of topics that deal with life. I feel the writing in this song really does the topic justice and the delivery adds an extra layer of emotion for me.
Why is it horrible? The "other woman" gets tired of being used and lied to, and she is able to regain her strength and stand up for herself, telling him to stay with his wife the next time he has that itch to cheat. Sugarland has had thousands of women in similar situations thank them for recording this video.
They didn't think it would get much radio play being acoustic guitar only and 5 mins long. They were WRONG.

I could feel the emotion. Incredibly powerful.

It’s not from the Other woman’s point of view! It’s from the wife’s feeling like the other woman gets the best of her husband!

When they made the video the producer wanted her to keep going with the emotions pouring out but the guitar player refused and cut it off.
Hers is one of the very best voices of any genre. I was lucky enough to see her in concert. Her voice and stage presence is also fantastic.
That face you made right after she started singing is EXACTLY how I feel about her voice every time I hear it lol!!!
Incredible voice. And such a powerful and moving song.

Her voice is pure beauty Saeed. She was a solo act also. What a voice
Magnificent voice.
Love her voice! You should check out Sugarland doing "Life in a Northern Town" with tour mates Little Big Town and Jake Owen.

I love this song so much! It’s still one of my favorite country songs of all time.

Jennifer nettles is actually from South Georgia from Douglas
PTX did one of Sugarland’s songs for country week-on ‘The Sing Off’. They sang their song-“Stuck Like Glue”-PTX added some Jamaican sauce on it.
Oooh! Thats where i recognized the name from. Thanks for reminding me.
Jennifer Nettles is excellent, I've liked everything she has put out, including her duet with Jon Bon Jovi.
Happens so much in real life and this is how you feel. Jennifer is amazing! Thanks for your great reactions. Glad I found you (thru Dan Vasc).

Saeed, Reba McIntyre is another amazing voice you would love. I like older Reba songs of 70s , but thats me
I have reacted to a few songs of her recently and will do more. There is is a playlist with the Reba Reactions on the channel.
Jennifer Nettles will break your heart or light up your life. Check out "Down in Mississippi and up to no good!" She'll have you laughin!

Love this reaction. Please do Who Says You Can't Go Home with Jennifer Nettles and Bon Jovi. Their duet is fun!
Thanks for watching and the recommendation! Hope to explore some more of their music!

She is beautiful, but to me that isnt really the elephant in the room. Im focussed on the lyrics in most of these video's.
Try Down To Mississippi and maybe Baby Girl! Oh and Babe ft Taylor Swift (written by Taylor).
Thanks for those recommendations! Didnt know they worked together.
