Fun fact: because aluminum cans are less porous than plastic, they can hold the carbonation better because the CO2 can't diffuse out so that could be why even though the crystal pepsi was newer than surge, surge was carbonated but the crystal wasn't! It is a pretty accepted thing that cans (and glass bottles for the same reason) are better ways to store carbonated drinks but plastic is cheaper (and less dangerous than glass)

On GMM, rhett and link got a candy bar on eBday that ended up just being a wood plank meticulously rewrapped to look untampered with - i feel like Tyler might be right that the orbitz was replaced with something else and glued shut?
I got sick when shopping with my grandma as a kid and she tried to buy me a ginger ale from the vending machine to settle my stomach, but the only soda in stock was Crystal Pepsi. I took one sip and violently threw up moments later.
I tried it loads of times. It existed at a time when I had a lot of freedom to get drinks from the corner store. But I never remember liking it! Did they ever open, and try it? What video is it on if they did? I won’t to see that so bad! Lol
It is very possible that the bottle of Orbitz was super glued shut. An easy trick to erase super glue residue is to use 100% acetone on a piece of cloth or nail polish remover (with acetone) also on a cloth. My older sister does this for her tiny bottle crafts she sells at bazaars. Another reason the bottle is so hard to open could be from the evaporation of liquid and the crystallization of sugars and the cap of the bottle. Please don't drink it. It sucks to have food poisoning.
Cola is predominantly made with flavours like Cola nut, vanilla, nutmeg, and orange. All of these are flavours that pair well and commonly with coffee, so the pairing makes complete sense.
They still sell Surge under the name of Urge in Norway in bottles instead of cans! They're also yellow and not green, but it tastes the same apparently. It's really good!
Its just a urge can with an S drawn on it in sharpie in the video isnt it? the Danish version of Urge was Darker green then the light green version we've had for a long time, so this might be a Danish version of the soda if they still sell Urge in Denmark, but to me it really just looks like Sharpie on the can they use in this video.
There's also a sugarfree variant now, orange bottle I think and there was a holiday special edition this winter. Urge is maybe my favourite soda. There are also still cans in six packs and there are large bottles as well
Tang is an ingredient in my favorite Christmas tea. It’s Tang, Liptons powder tea, country time lemonade powder cinnamon, and clove. It’s a very nostalgic drink for me and I still mix up a mason jar of it every winter! Mix with hot water and enjoy
@@Jesusfreak09999 I was wondering if anyone would mention this. I vaguely remember this was a trend back in the day. When they mentioned a frankensoda I was like "isn't that just suicide?". Lol. It's definitely not a new concept.

1:45:40 Tyler's comment about the mummies not being salty...actually, they're probably extremely salty as they were preserved using a salt called natron. This is the same salt featured in the Disney Nature documentary "The Crimson Wing" that can, and does, kill flamingos by creating salt shackles on the young birds' ankles. Thank you for these videos! They're always entertaining to watch. 😄
Orbitz was DELICIOUS! I was obsessed with it and was genuinely depressed when they stopped making it. I would save my money and buy a bottle whenever I had a chance from Wet Seal! At one point, I even managed to only drink all the liquid and saved the floating beads out of one bottle. Then I tried to refill the bottle with water, but all the beads sunk to the bottom. LOL. For years, I had wished I bought a case of them to drink later on. I was a teenager when they were available. All my friends loved it too. FYI, nobody in my town had ever heard of boba in the 90's LOL 😆
I do remember Zima as being labeled a "chick drink " lol and yes I was underage (which I don't promote) but I do remember having it as a "younger person " and then quickly refusing to drink it, not because it was bad but simply because I didn't want to be the typical chick who asked for "chick drinks " lol the stereotypical stuff from the 2000's was really something I thought I had to fight against as a younger person lol seems so silly to me now but I totally don't judge anyone who had an actual reason in that point in time. I honestly love that you guys included this drink because it is so reminiscent of my younger years 👍😊❤❤
I remember when Orbitz came out. I begged mom to buy it for me. Finally after months of begging, she bought one for me. I think I drank half of it. It was like less flavorful Sprite with carp balls in it. It was awful. 🤣🤣🤣 However, Surge and Josta were life. Lol.

So, for context for my comments, I live in the UK and only about half of these beverages were ever available here! Sunny D was definitely available though and I, too, was not allowed it growing up. Like Saf, I have also still never tried it to this day so I feel like all of Saf's reactions are very valid! I'm not sure if it was actually Orbitz but I definitely had something similar in the 90s on a day trip to the Science Museum in London, like a version of popping or jelly boba that didn't sink to the bottom but was suspended in the liquid and had more of a chew to it. I remember it being good, if slightly surprising in texture! Also, a popular drink in Europe but not particularly in the UK is a coke/orange soda combo called Mezzo Mix. I think its possible the franken drink created here might slightly resemble that flavour profile, although the mushroom cloud effect when the Yoohoo was added was honestly terrifying! 🤢
honestly, i’m from the us and have never heard of any of these (aside from tang/yoohoo/sunny d) at the end and the zima that wasn’t tried. maybe surge. i’m just so confused… maybe these drinks (orbitz? what?) weren't popular in my neck of the woods or i just didn’t shop at the “right” places?!
I used to LOVE Vault until they discontinued it :( but I see surge in my dollar tree all the time with that exact can 😂 also, my local store still sells Jones soda thankfully 🙏
haha when tyler mentioned zima on the prior livestream I was like "how come saf doesnt remember this is what lorelai and luke got to celebrate when they got engaged???" - theres the answer...
I love you both and I absolutely hate when people are being rude to you or being critical of what you say in the chat. I wish these people’s comments can be not read out loud or like kicked out for being hard on you both
My high school had Fruitopia in vending machines in the early 2000's. I was so excited as a freshman in 2001 to be able to get these drinks bc it felt so rebellious to get that instead of a milk or apple juice with my regular school lunch. Then in the middle of the school year, they took the Fruitopia out and replaced it with Coca-Cola. Their reasoning behind it blows my mind.....Fruitopia wasn't healthy since it wasn't a pure fruit juice!!! But coke is? Ruined my week when they took it out
It would have been cool to compare the coke blak to the new version! I had the caramel and regular flavors of the new, and I actually liked them! They also have a vanilla flavor that I really want to try~
I vaguely recall store brand clear cola marketed as a healthier alternative to black cola. This was before the light soda movement, back when sugar free sodas were for diabetics only.
My husband has an unopened bottle of THAT FLAVOR of Orbitz and we refuse to open it 🤣 he bought it for the novelty of it and just never drank it, then it became a relic of "things the 90s and early 00s released that slid riiiight under the radar of the FDA" 😭🤣

you can get Surge at the gas station my husband does it like everyday. the can looks exactly like that. hope you didn't pay a lot for some rip-off vintage soda 😕 edit- i saw the expiration date part now. so interesting they would sell old surge when you can buy new surge 😅
ACTUALLY Egyptians covered the body in natron, which is a type of salt, and additional packets in the bodies to help dry them out. (Thanks, child me, who was obsessed with ancient Egypt & knew the entire mummification process.)

So Tyler I am with you! Idk if I thought it was "hard" so much as "annoying" when I was a kid, but I definitely don't think you were alone!

Please try regional sodas! Or popular or unusual sodas by country! Im from the Philippines and my favourite soda is Pepsi Twist which had a lemon flavor to it. I can't find it now and idk if its been discontinued. Still to this day my fave is pepsi max or diet coke or coke zero and squeezing half a lemon in it.
Mountain Dew is orange flavored. (If it were less sweet, you'd taste the orange.) Mello Yello is lemon flavored (and it's a Coke product, so it's not private labeled). 7 up and sprite are lemon/lime.

sunny D is still available in the UK! Just in odd shops, like corner shops and i think Iceland
honestly, i’m from the us and have never heard of any of these (aside from tang/yoohoo/sunny d) at the end and the zima that wasn’t tried. maybe surge. i’m just so confused…
maybe these drinks (orbitz? what?) weren't popular in my neck of the woods or i just didn’t shop at the “right” places?!
TO OPEN ORBITZ - wrap a rubber band around the cap and another on the bottle...alternatively, if you have them, use dishwashing gloves.
I love you both and I absolutely hate when people are being rude to you or being critical of what you say in the chat. I wish these people’s comments can be not read out loud or like kicked out for being hard on you both
Tyler: “It’s like how Hardee’s and checkers were the same restaurant”
Nooo tyler 😂
That's what I said! It's Hardee's and Carl's Jr Tyler! Lol
or Checkers and Rallys
To be fair, his comparison is correct in that Mellow Yellow and Mr Pib are coke products and Mt Dew and Dr Pepper are pepsi products
So yeah, just like hardees and checkers
Omg those are restaurants!?! I had no idea. Checkers is a game here. I thought the other was just a similar game I haven’t heard of. Lol!!!
More screen time to tylers nostalgic childhood stories
Josta was the 90s early 2000s drink I drank in Hs the most. They made sure we had vending machines filled with ill-advised items for especially teens.
I loved josta
Tyler channeling Evan in this stream, "Chaos, chaos, chaos!"
Having coffee before a stream full of energy drinks. Makes sense.
I vaguely recall store brand clear cola marketed as a healthier alternative to black cola. This was before the light soda movement, back when sugar free sodas were for diabetics only.
You guys are very nerdy and super articulate.
The green Fruitopia is still primarily flavoured with Kiwi. But the Strawberry one is the bomb. Lol so sorry you guys don’t have it their anymore. 😭
Hardee's and Checkers are not the same, in my hometown they're literally across the street from each other and competing. Hardee's and Carl's Jr. are the same though.
Omg I got so excited when I saw the blue Pepsi!!!! This was such a strong memory to me being a kid. And Everytime I would bring it up NOONE would believe me! I was starting to think there was a Mandela effect going on
Me, a SodaStream user watching the Coca Cola Blak errupt.
**nods**
The soda stream has a line on it that you need to have the fluid up to. That’s part of the reason they were having so much trouble.
Tyler, you heathen! Mr. Pibb is the knock off of Dr. Pepper, and Hardy's and Checkers are not the same - Checkers and Rally's are same, and Hardy's and Carl's Jr. are the same. Somebody help this man.
Mr. Pibb tastes better then Dr. Pepper to me.
Watching this a year later and it’s 2:17 am Wednesday morning EST 🤯
you can get Surge at the gas station my husband does it like everyday. the can looks exactly like that. hope you didn't pay a lot for some rip-off vintage soda 😕 edit- i saw the expiration date part now. so interesting they would sell old surge when you can buy new surge 😅
y’all are my favorite things about Tuesday’s
ACTUALLY Egyptians covered the body in natron, which is a type of salt, and additional packets in the bodies to help dry them out. (Thanks, child me, who was obsessed with ancient Egypt & knew the entire mummification process.)
They also buried the body in the sand which furhter took moisture away. They were geniuses
You have no idea how long I’ve been trying to explain Orbitz flavor to all my family and friends, seriously so unique!
love that frog mug 😩💞
Laying in bed with a fever looking for something to watch....old soda?? Must watch
So interesting fact on the Fruitopia, you should have checked your local Mcdonalds because many locations actually still sell it in the US!
Ok anyone who's had Capri Sun and has not, at least once, (for any given reason whether it's age, being distracted, whatever) failed to correctly stab the straw into the pouch IS LYING TO YOU. So Tyler I am with you! Idk if I thought it was "hard" so much as "annoying" when I was a kid, but I definitely don't think you were alone!
Rico…….Suave.
Next time, have shot glasses at the ready. And tools. Pipe wrench. Now, I must go search orbits taste test.
Wait a daggone minute... I watched the whole stream uninterrupted (with 6 wild children) for no Orbitz? Ugh! 💗💗 Love you guys! So looking forward to the resolution next week.
I think I drank all of these as a 90s child. I miss them 🥺
As of at least a few years ago the Coke factory in Atlanta still sold cans of Surge in their gift shop.
Surge and Jolt were two of my favorites when I was a teenager as well as Fruitopia lol
Yes
All 3 were amazing
The didn’t sell Jolt my part of the country but when we took our class trip to Williamsburg, we were very excited to see we could get Jolt there, lol.
@@MARIELEVAMPYRE13 I totally agree lol glad that other people remember these drinks, they were a huge part of my childhood years ❤❤
@@meeples7599 that's so cool! You can actually still buy it at our local Dollar General stores which I think is so funny and cool lol ❤❤ glad you got to at least try it 😊❤👍👍
omg make the mugs as real merch pls!!! frogs are my special interest and i would definitely buy them
I love Tang! Luckily I was allowed to have it as a child. I wasn’t allowed koolaid or capris sun though. I guess because it says about having vitamins in it.
I miss Tang so much! Haven't had any since the early 2000s 😂
Omg the Orbitz Ad unlocked a childhood memory. I remember drinking that once when I was a kid 😅
We got the Jones Soda Thanksgiving set once, everyone was able to try them. I still have the bottles somewhere!
Oh man I LOVED Snapple Elements. They used to have those aluminum bottles that were SO good. Fire and Rain were my absolute favorites.
Surge is still avlive in Norway, under the name «urge». They tried to pull it of the marked, but with so much protest from its fans, so they kept it. 😆😅 same design, same taste. (And with alot of new flavours launching such as christmas and halloween)
Yep. Though Urge is more yellowy than the green of Surge.
as soon as i saw the soda stream /and/ soda i knew the over carbonation would happen lmao
I’m going to need that “frog with knife” mug. Please and thank you. Here are my money dollars 💸
the mugs remind me of the book "frog and toad are friends" from my childhood
On Wednesdays we all become Wednesdonians! 😆
Also I'd buy the toad mug Tyler is using lol
Y’all should do a version of this but with snacks! I know there are a lot of discontinued snacks they’ve been bringing back like Dunkaroos, French Toast Crunch
