Dario Cruz They made it seem like it wasn't supported with the oversimplified chipset overview slide saying "Dual PCIe - No". Not surprising that everyone reports it as not supporting multi-GPU.

It is the same chip, it overclocks to 3.9-4.1 too and it comes with a cooler that supports those overclocks too. :) CPU of the year if not years right there.
well i heard of people getting their 1600 and 1700 OC just to 3.7 Ghz....so there is the possibility of a gamble that wont favor you! The 1600x is the safe way...but i think i would go for the 1600 vanilla too
I would wait 6 months to a year before buying a Ryzen... if the goal is to overclock... The subsequent batches of silicon will improve & probably give better overclocks down the line.. launch silicons are almost never optimal
My recent purchase was: - Ryzen 1600x with Noctua NH-U12S cooler - Asus Prime B350-Plus motherboard - Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB DDR4 3200 ram - Corsair K65 compact Cherry MX red keyboard Things I already own and will reuse: - Samsung Evo 250GB SSD and 4 hdds - EVGA GTX 1060 FTW+ 6GB - CM Storm Sniper BE case with all red LED fans (best case in the world in my opinion) - Corsair TX750 watts PSU (it's a good PSU, but I don't particularly recommend it, especially since EVGA is kicking serious ass with their high quality PSUs now) Just waiting for the parts to show up in the mail for me to build and try out. Will be mainly for gaming and occasional HD video editing. I already know all the flaws of the Asus Prime B350-Plus motherboard, and I do hope others research on it before purchasing it too. (lack of screw holes in board, weird 8 channel ports setup, lack of ram speed support) The motherboard was better than the alternatives and was good enough for me for the price. If it doesn't work out, that's what the warranty is for. But one thing is for sure... I highly disagree with what Crit is recommending. Name brands are all shit, case is horrendous for airflow, 3GB video card isn't enough for today's games, PSU wattage doesn't leave too much room for expanding / capacitor aging. I'm sure the PSU is fine for that setup for it's entire lifespan, but you sure as hell won't be moving it from computer to computer or doing much upgrading with it.
turgsh01 A 600W 80Plus Bronze PSU will power a 1600 system with a 1080ti just fine. As they said, the 1070 system drew well under 500W. Most people overestimate their PSU needs greatly.
I never once said it couldn't power the setup they mentioned. What I said was capacitor aging does impact the reliability over time, aka lower the peak rated wattage the psu can handle over time. It also prevents you from future upgrades like multiple platter drives and additional fans or whatever you might want in the future. And something I didn't mention which should have been obvious, but I guess not... Having a psu run around 50% stress at all times is far less efficient than running a larger psu at 25% stress. Having it stressed out all the time causes the psu to run hotter which can affect other internal hardware if the heated area gets back into the case again. It's also like pushing something to the limits which obviously can only last so long. Some ppl say you should replace your psu after every major upgrade, but myself and many others have proven several times that that statement is absolute dog shit and should be ignored. If you go out and buy a high quality psu, then that psu can move into several computers before feeling the need to replace for a new one. But since Crit recommended a 600w psu, that would in all likely hood not be possible. Also, Crit doesn't actually have anything in which tests power usage of a computer, so anything he says about power consumption is opinion without proof. Most of what Crit is recommending is a system for retards who don't care at all about reliability or quality.
turgsh01 Got any evidence of how much a PSU degrades over time? I still fail to see why a 600W PSU limits you from transferring between multiple PCs? The 600W in a system that maxes out around 450W gives you room for another 5 HDDs without any problem! Then you can transfer to your next system assuming similar or lower power usage, which given the improvements in efficiency over time makes sense. The difference in efficiency of a PSU over its range is absolutely down in the noise, once over the 25%ish mark. Whether my PSU is 50% loaded or 90% loaded it's
I have a 64gb adata SSD that was in my previous computer that is now a plex server. probably 4 years old and it's still screaming. it really doesnt feel any different than my current Samsung 850 pro. if u don't care about having the top of the line, it's a really good option.
just went to microcenter to pick up a 1600. sadly they were all out. just decided to go with the 1500x instead and im really happy with it. nice to save some money too
Hey Logan will you be uploading the intro music to bandcamp anytime soon? I remember you saying that you had recovered a copy of it following the NAS failure a while back
+Cameron Beyer Maybe, but bandcamp is currently where the zweihander albums are so if a new song was uploaded I'm guessing that would be the place where one would find it
I was looking at some stats to see what drive to use for gaming, videos, and important projects, seems like 2TB Barracuda drives are much more reliable than 4TB. So dunno if it makes sense but I got 2 2TB and put them in RAID0 stripped, so hopefully they're both fast and relatively reliable.
when are they gonna have ITX motherboards? used Rajintek Metis for my current build, it fits in my backpack, I can't be going back to those massive tower cases.
Vinh Ngo the 1070 is fine at 4k, I'd expect it to be for 400 quid, my brother has one and it's incredibly powerful, played Forza horizon 3 at 4k maxed completely 60fps, dunno about you
the 6500 is perfectly fine, don't throw it away. being able to do 4k doesn't mean doing 4k ultra on all games (something you need a 1080ti for). if you only want the resolution, and only in some games, you tune down the rest and you're fine
I found out that ryzen single core perf is actually higher than my 6400... so I could either upgrade to a 7700k or go ryzen but that's gonna cost an extra 100 quid or so with a 1700, guess I can't go wrong with the 7700k its not gonna be slow at 3d modelling, texture work and rendering tbh, but the 1700 would be faster
you were lucky to build a pc a few months ago ...found out the hard way that saving to build it all at once is not always the best way ...idk somehow i scrwd myself...tho i did just buy an rx480 4gb msi gamerx for 200$ and ima bios flash it to a 580 8gb if it has the cores disabled or w.e....now im working with my hp 17 i7 4700mq (found in msi/alienware model) and an external gpu adapter lol....guess i get it when ppl say dream pc
No for real, the 1060 3GB has a cut down GP 106 GPU (the GPU used in the 1060). The GPU in the 3 GB variant is either a recycled GPU that doesn't have all of the CUDA cores operational needed for a 6GB, or it is an intentionally cut down GPU for the sake of selling a cheaper card. In any case, recommending it over an equally priced RX480 4GB is generally not a great idea. While Polaris 10 and full GP106 are fairly equal in performance, the 3GB 1060 is measurably and objectively lower performing than any RX480 with any vram config.
I have an R9 280x, I bought it because it had 3GB of Vram at the time and let me tell you... 3GB nowadays is on the verge of not being enough, so it won't be future proof at all, don't buy that!
I'm just sitting here with a 850 watt with my ryzen 1700. While I patiently wait for AMD vega :( got a shitty gtx 750 ti as a placeholder until vega launches. I can't wait haha.
Does it really make sense to get the X version of the Ryzen chips? It looks like the non-X ones will OC about the same, and come with a cooler (which looks pretty decent for a stock one).
Hey, I have a zotac GT430 4gb lying around . Will it work on a ryzen cpu build? I know its not good for gaming but for now I am not planning a system for gaming. Will buy a new one in a couple of months when I have budget for a good gaming gpu. For now I am just looking for a daily driver pc.
Under the circumstances of "budget" meaning cheap (which is always is in this context), and a system being used for gaming (not some streamer or video producer or modeler or such things), I'd assert that *Ryzen 5 is simply not viable/optimal for budget gaming systems.* It would only be viable for mid range gaming systems. Gaming involves a primarily GPU workload, and hence when it comes to _true_ budget systems, CPU would be cut to ensure a powerful GPU is used. This is the same sort of reason why it's dumb to purchase after-market coolers for budget systems (only if the CPU does come with a stock cooler, obviously), since it would be more efficient to invest that cost into a better GPU, or even better CPU. Ryzen 3 would be the budget gaming CPU (at least if it performs well-enough), and even then it wouldn't be used for the lower-end of that range, since the lowest section needs to sacrifice almost everything in favor of ensuring a good GPU.
Be careful when buying the Gskill ripjaws. The ones with cl16 use hyinx memory which will most likely not go above 2666 Mhz. Spend a few bucks more for the cl 14 ones. They use the Samsung chips and will easylie go to 3200.
I would change some stuff (not a lot actually), but I love your builds, but shipping for Brazil... I don't have money enough to pay 3 times the price of a playable pc :'(
Matthew Thomas They did forget to mention the 3GB 1060 is a different core count to the 6GB 1060 & is therefore a noticeably worse choice to an RX480 at this budget.

Dario Cruz They made it seem like it wasn't supported with the oversimplified chipset overview slide saying "Dual PCIe - No". Not surprising that everyone reports it as not supporting multi-GPU.
id go with the 1600 1070 combo
Patrick Lyons already gone😊
the contrast in the case's is quite nice
love the music in this,so much energy
watched up until that zoom in drink, instantly hit like ... keep up the good videos guys

why get the 1600X when the 1600 is cheaper?

You can run windows 10 unregistered indefinitely with the only downside being a small watermark in the bottom right of the screen.

- Ryzen 1600x with Noctua NH-U12S cooler
- Asus Prime B350-Plus motherboard
- Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB DDR4 3200 ram
- Corsair K65 compact Cherry MX red keyboard

- Samsung Evo 250GB SSD and 4 hdds
- EVGA GTX 1060 FTW+ 6GB
- CM Storm Sniper BE case with all red LED fans (best case in the world in my opinion)
- Corsair TX750 watts PSU (it's a good PSU, but I don't particularly recommend it, especially since EVGA is kicking serious ass with their high quality PSUs now)

Nice Logan!
Hey Logan will you be uploading the intro music to bandcamp anytime soon? I remember you saying that you had recovered a copy of it following the NAS failure a while back
TOTAL EARGASM! I CUM EVERY TIME!
joscelyn olivier bandcamp like isn't a proper thing to artists anymore. They were bought

arkatub Biostar should have one out by the end of May, Gigabyte soon too. ASRock hinted that they may have on set for release in September.
arkatub We've been trying to get 2 for our portal cases for weeks now. We are eagerly awaiting them as well.
arkatub You could try microatx
Dont get the 1060 3gb
Get the RX 480 4gb (Better DX12 performance)
As an upgrade you can get a 2nd RX 480 and run them in crossfire
Ak Mungroo i would go with the 8gb model instead of Crossfire
okay but is the 480 rx vr ready
4:30 wait you can pay for someone install your gpu? 😂
Papadingdong yes in the uk. But you have to install the motherboard yourself.
4K? Even the 1070 struggles at 4K. I speak from experience

When the album is coming out ?
Is this good enough for video editing, stream, etc?
i do need 16xAA and you do too.
can i use air cooler is it ok for 1600x ? what about performence ?
why no 1600?

GTX 980 ti 6GB (used) is the bang for the buck
OMG he got a new Qain
Hello logan. Please upload more tech reviews. Fuck the drama. Been watching you since 2007 tiger direct gfx card reviews.
gtx 1060 3GB?! BWAHAHAHAHHAHA
True Inferno It's cheap which is why they recommended it. Notice Logan also mentioned the RX 480.
Sorry, I just find that the gpu is gimped from the start. A great die mixed with a really low ammount of vram...
True Inferno i know XD Just get a 470/480

ezforsaken Gotta agree here, the non-X chips seem much better value if you're willing to slap a little overclock on them.
Cool !
I just want to say you can get win 10 64bit pro for like 30$ on kinguin
whats the intro music called soundslike agoodinstrumental
how good is the bitfenix nova to build in?

Lmao that look!! 8:20
Good pc
yes, that's the build i'm looking for, *1600x/1070*... pls run some games at 1080p/1440p on it pls !! i want to see dem numbers

can i get buy on a r5 1400 for streaming
using the 1500x and 1600x for value PCs? The 1400 and 1600 overclock almost as high and are quite a bit cheaper.
Noob here. Why build a budget ryzen setup with a 1060? why not the 480? (these are actual questions)
Can't fool me! That's not Qain! Forgot to add glasses
tpcs I was wondering! I ended up going with qu, Ty
Stop drinking coffee while making a video
why would anybody get the 1060 3gb when you can get an rx 480 8gb for basically the same price
R5 1600 + Used 980TI :D
I would change some stuff (not a lot actually), but I love your builds, but shipping for Brazil... I don't have money enough to pay 3 times the price of a playable pc :'(
Your wrong on gpu retest them Rx 470 out performs the gtx 1060 3gb
Jack Sylvester Gee I didn't see any performance numbers anywhere in this video. All they did was show parts.
1060 3gb? you know they are not the same performance as a 6gb 1060? hell even a 470 beats it in DX12
and on the new titles 3gb isnt enough even for 1080p
Matthew Thomas Might be why they also reference the RX 480 twice. Did you watch the full video? lol
Matthew Thomas They did forget to mention the 3GB 1060 is a different core count to the 6GB 1060 & is therefore a noticeably worse choice to an RX480 at this budget.
580 stomps it for same price
HOkayson wrong you mug.
Just buy a Windows 10 Pro license from Kinguin it is much cheaper and its trusted as well.
lit fam
Rx 580 is much better and not really expensive or 570,470 would work better as well
#DicksOutForDoug
93$ for an OEM license??
"still over 500 mb's on the read and the write." Literally the description of the product on the screen says 310 read and 130 write....
WTF does the X mean?
3gb is not enough memory for the gtx1060 in AAA Titles like GTA or Fallout. I'd go with a RX480 instead
or just get a 6 gb version
Bidwellz9 they have the same Performance, but rx480 is cheaper so its the better option
GTX 10Sexty
what is going on with linux gaming. hate win10. too bad win10 sounds so catchy

makes no sense to get any "x" version. Also, ram compatibility isnt great, find something with samsung B-die.
The fan on my evga 500w is cancer, and you can't even open these power supplys up.
3en6ie 3en6ie there aren't any, there are only the screws for the fan grill, but no way to open the case. You don't think I wouldn't look for that? There aren't even any ifixit tutorials for it or anything.
M1necraftdude01 lol you mean buy one you can swap the fan on?
In an ideal world haha. I grabbed it cause it was $25
nope, just on sale. removing the fan cover reduced some of the noise though
2 tb?ahahaha i have like 4 3tb drives :(
