Correct, it is a model C85F as noted by the VIN on the tag on the window. We got the VIN, we win: C85 for that model of Mack truck, F for fire apparatus chassis and the rest is the serial number or production sequence. Mack's motto was "No Mack is an Orphan" because they supported parts for all of their models. The data plate back then often said, "Mack Trucks, Allentown PA. Truck Capital of the World". Thermodyne means that this is a diesel-powered truck. Maxidyne meant it was gasoline powered. If you contact the Mack Functional Museum in PA and provide the VIN # they will send you all of the historical information on this truck, as they keep vast and copious records of all of their trucks. I hope it gets saved as it's a classic.
Now i dont want to see the old fire truck crushed , if you gotta crush it dont film it , it will hurt feelings G , its in good condition for a donation to youth groups or old mens shed stuff ,, send it that way please G , good bunch of guys could transform this truck rather quickly and use as mens shed promotion vehicle, who else agrees here , its very classic and very rare too
If not restored as a firetruck, would make a cool car hauler. Whatever it's fate, it deserves to see some love!
Keep it
Great videos 👍
Very lovely! Why is such a jewel on a junkyard? Unbelievable.
Badge shows she's got the thermodyne diesel engine...sweet!
