Sometimes, there's absolute perfection in how something is designed. The M1911, the Fender Stratocaster, and the Mack Model B are a few examples. Beautiful truck.
I still like the LT model Mack the best. But the B model does look great, especially when it’s done right like this one. The tandem is the best look. The red suspension is a great touch. The three ribs on the rear of the cab on both sides of the rear window, they always look like they should have a chrome strip on each of them. The color combination on this truck goes very well on the B model.
Thanks.. it was originally an A&P grocery truck (All Red) when my Uncle bought it he changed it to the blue/black color... although the blue was much lighter. we decided it should have a darker blue.
What a WORK OF ART! I know i had a 1971 with a small 350hp 13spd (wished it had the 18 more fun to shift) with a HUGE PTO winch and a complete WET KIT and HE was a work horse and a 1/2. Some of These Macks seem to have alot in common with the pto Winch and Wet kit. Nice JOB!
Thanks... it had a wet line with a pump and pto , but we decided that would never be needed again.. I could hear my Uncle Bob say now.."why in the world did you take THAT off?
Yes! i would have said But Uncle Bob; "we need it on the other Mack #10 we use everyday" Yes! quite a job setting up the wet kit. I know this well/@@kwequip
A beautifully restored old road warrior. Gotta love the comment, "switched it from a duplex to a quadrapelx" could do that and no issues. Today's trucks it would be all kinds of electrical issues and computer software issues, etc, etc, simple design that a guy with hand tools and a few air tools could service and repair gotta love it.
I think the old b model macks were art. I remember when I was little 2-3 years old going with to take grampa to work he drove fuel tankers jet fuel for the sac bases . He drove a yellow mach thermadine.
nice old mack my dad learned me how to drive on one exactly like yours. your uncle had to put maxi brake chambers on it as well I can remember dad installing them on his which was red as yours is dads had the quadraplex plex in it when he got it in 1968 best transmission ever made in my opionion because you can split every gear we hauled coal hear in ky everyone calls them double handers because of running your left arm through the steering wheel to shift when on a grade. very smooth shifting tranny.great looking truck and glad to see you save it from a scrap yard. I currently have a r model with a 9 speed that I despise I have a 13 spd roadranger weighting to put in it when needed.
Thanks... I was telling someone the other day that I wouldn't be afraid to drive that truck to California (from NC) We have replaced all belts ,hoses, wheel seals, changed engine, trans, rear end oil. also converted it from 24 Volt positive ground to 12 Volt negative ground with a new Gear reduction starter. If my uncle was still here he would say.." hook that thing to the lowboy and get the 955L (one of his favorite track loaders)."
My name is Nicholas back in the late 50s my uncle hauled steel with a b mack I can remember going with him it had a lower exhaust I can remember looking out the back window and watching the fire come out the exhaust pipe when I learn to drive I learned to a Mack or bulldog
My father let me learn to drive and shift this model back when I was 14 When I was 15 I would drive loads over the road to the next fair I got caught in Lumberton NC on the scale on 301 when the trooper found out how old I was he almost had a baby 🐥
I drove a 1988:Biscayne Mack, 5 speed, single axle LTL GIG, she didn’t like hills but on a straightaway, she was the fastest tractor in the yard, I should have taken pics of her, dammit, too, late now, it was transferred to another terminal!
That is so beautiful. Like the engine sound. Bob Reimer loved and drove Mack, s. He wrote THE B MODEL MACK SONG by THE COUNTRY TIGERS. Please check and drive that rig safe. Nice viedo
Drove a few of those,, we had a couple B model 10 wheel dumps, & a couple mixers, also a few DM's both 600 & 800's as dumps & mixers, with quad boxes.. I believe 1 or 2 R model tractors on trailer dumps,,, They were, tiring to drive,, always had to keep in mind what the hell gear you were in..Thank MACK for the 5 spd maxi. LOL
I would get one of these & spruce it up & make it into a sleeper trucks & surprise newer trucks on highway,s. Love them b models they just have a bad ass look to them
Back then they were required only on the rear axle on road tractors , the thinking then that the trailer and rear tractor brakes would be enough. A lot of the older drivers then did not trust the front brakes because they might hang up or get out of adjustment and jackknife the truck. (thank goodness they realized this would not happen and later changed that)
👍👌👏 Oh WOW, simply fantastic! It's exactly my age and as good lookin' and sturdy as I am! 😁 ;-) The cabin is green inside, even the steering wheel (I love nearly everything that is green). Thanks a lot for making explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and health.
Thanks for the comments... you could have any color you wanted for the Mack interior as long as it was green... (like Henry Ford on the early cars .. black!) we matched it as close as possible to the original color... We used it for some detail on the engine.
I learned to drive on a duo plex 1963 B61 that’s when trucks were trucks the only thing I would change would be putting in an air ride seat that spring seat got a little rough on you after a couple of hours
It is a totally different experience from a long nosed pete with a 550 Cummins and a automated manual transmission... but it got the job done and in it's time was extremely reliable.
NOW, THAT'S WHAT I CALL A TRUE AMERICAN MADE MACK!! UNFORTUNATELY MACK ISN'T MACK ANYMORE MACK IS JUST A ANOTHER NAMEPLATE FOR FOREIGN COMPANIES LIKE VOLVO. I WISH AND HOPE THAT WE CAN GET MACK BACK AS A AMERICAN MADE TRUCK.
Sweet ‘63 BEAST!!! Volvo =junk, I hate Volvo’s, always in the shop, BTW, that ‘88 Biscayne Mack never broke down on me mechanically, just the blown out tire here and there.
we put on all new belts and hoses but all the original copper lines were perfect even after all these years.. this truck could be put to work tomorrow but you would have to find a driver that liked to shift a lot of gears, didn't mind the no/ac in the summer and had strong steering arms without having any p/s.. ( i drove this truck on occasion for my Uncle Bob Oxford.)
sorry for getting back to you over a YEAR late! but I don't keep up with this too often.. a Quadruplex transmission has between 18 and 20 speeds ( some are duplicated.. you skip them. it has a main 5 speed transmission and a 4 speed auxiliary transmission (5 x4)
We went cheap on the tires.. we only take it to a couple of shows a year. If it was in service with my Uncle it would have to have some new rubber because he would put 25 tons of gravel on a 22 ft. steel Daybrook dump trailer. and pull a 30 ton Northwest Dragline on a 25 ton beavertail lowboy.
Sometimes, there's absolute perfection in how something is designed. The M1911, the Fender Stratocaster, and the Mack Model B are a few examples. Beautiful truck.
It's a work of art for sure. Back when we built our own stuff and kept our people working. A beautiful truck for sure.
This girl , takes me back to the early 60's she's the first big truck i learned on A B-61 mack thermodyne
Lucky you!
I think the B model Macks are always going to be the most popular Mack ever built.
What an absolutely beautiful piece. Thank you for posting this.
Thanks for your comment!
Wow I remember AG Boone I worked for A&P in the sixties
Wow! as a young man I remember their trucks on the road. The truck we have had red paint under it in places when restored it. (Boone had red)
I love the sound of these old diesels idling. They sound like they are barely turning over.
Mack 672 cubic inch non turbo, they had a particular idle sound... I always liked that.
Hello from Azerbaijan. These old trucks are with soul. Best quality, simple and repairable. Made for people.
She's a beauty!! No Volvo parts on that girl. A real Mack!!
All, Mack there.

Gorgeous tractor ya got. Would love to drive one.

Great job on the Mack, love seeing old trucks and equipment being brought back to life.

Still the most beautiful truck ever made....
BEAUTIFUL MACK 👍
Thanks
@@kwequip YOU'RE WELCOME

Good video. Beautiful truck, with not only the historical story, but pics of the interior, and eng. Well done.
Thanks very much!
Very Nice Rig and a Thumbs Up liked !
Your uncle really took care of this rig, you sir are a very lucky guy to have such a classic rig.
Absolutely beautiful. Kings of the highway in their hayday. Thank you for showing it off!
Thanks!
Beautiful
Clean as a whistle id love to double clutch it a time or 2
That's one beautiful looking old Mack. It really sounds nice just setting there purring too. Stay safe.
That's a real truck not like the plastic junk they make today
My name is Nicholas back in the late 50s my uncle hauled steel with a b mack I can remember going with him it had a lower exhaust I can remember looking out the back window and watching the fire come out the exhaust pipe when I learn to drive I learned to a Mack or bulldog
An outstanding restoration of a family owned treasure!...😁
Reminds me of an old friend....he drove an old Mack truck...but I remember his being single rear axle...was about 35 years ago....
My father let me learn to drive and shift this model back when I was 14
When I was 15 I would drive loads over the road to the next fair
I got caught in Lumberton NC on the scale on 301 when the trooper found out how old I was he almost had a baby 🐥
Truck would look cool all black
K belleza de Mack gracias x compartir tan lindo video

My favorite MACK!
Hermoso camión: muy bien conservado, de estos llegaron varios a colombia

y in CT that runs about 4 B75's with big motors & stretched frames w/ sleepers RUSSO Trucking
Didn't come out. A guy in Danbury Ct.
Beauty. Simple work horse.
Thanks very much!
Its fascinating that it didn't have breaks on the front wheels.
Back then they were required only on the rear axle on road tractors , the thinking then that the trailer and rear tractor brakes would be enough. A lot of the older drivers then did not trust the front brakes because they might hang up or get out of adjustment and jackknife the truck. (thank goodness they realized this would not happen and later changed that)
Quadraplex were 5+4 that gave it 20 speeds or gears although some ratios were duplicated
SWEET ride. Yep, you need a quad for lowboy yanking. A duplex is nice for a dump straight truck but the compound comes in handy for the rough stuff.
I like the "custom " copper flare tubing work ! Yeah , I'm a plumber . Beautiful old Mack attack ! Congratulations .
Beautiful old truck.
That, s a beautiful truck.Nice paint job. I would be listening to Flo and Curley singing ME AND MY RADIO JUST KEEP ON TRUCKIN HOME when driving home.
👍👌👏 Oh WOW, simply fantastic! It's exactly my age and as good lookin' and sturdy as I am! 😁 ;-) The cabin is green inside, even the steering wheel (I love nearly everything that is green).

Thats a mighty fine B61 Mack holds a special place in my heart 👍
I learned to drive on a duo plex 1963 B61 that’s when trucks were trucks the only thing I would change would be putting in an air ride seat that spring seat got a little rough on you after a couple of hours
What a beautiful color combination!! Beautiful truck!!
Thanks!
If you can drive that you can drive anything I m in love
It is a totally different experience from a long nosed pete with a 550 Cummins and a automated manual transmission... but it got the job done and in it's time was extremely reliable.
Old MACKS sound great!
Put a turbo on it, and readjust the stop plate in the governor, and it will run right along side lots of modern trucks
CINDY!
You behave!
That is an absolute beautiful TRUCK
LOVE THE B Models!!
Nice old jigga, very nice.
Old Mack trucks had class.
Very nice the old mack see new 🔥🚛
Now that's a beautiful Mack. Mack Trucks Performance Counts.
A beautiful piece of American history.
Mack trucks built tough in the U.S.A.
THE COUNTRY TIGERS
NOW, THAT'S WHAT I CALL A TRUE AMERICAN MADE MACK!! UNFORTUNATELY MACK ISN'T MACK ANYMORE MACK IS JUST A ANOTHER NAMEPLATE FOR FOREIGN COMPANIES LIKE VOLVO. I WISH AND HOPE THAT WE CAN GET MACK BACK AS A AMERICAN MADE TRUCK.
That is a beauty. My dad drove one, in Florida for a company called Wes Flo.
No front brakes was the norm had b models and r models without them !
beautifully kept old classic.
Very clean. Extra fine machine.
Thanks!
Hermoso, genial,únicos camiones mack
What a beauty. As a third generation semi driver, I would love to drive one of those.
Gotta love that old school idle
Love how round the cab is
Awesome gorgeous truck. Had to laugh about how the camera made the truck seem to be made of Jell-O whenever you moved though, haha.
She's a beauty.
beautiful truck!
Sweet ‘63 BEAST!!! Volvo =junk, I hate Volvo’s, always in the shop, BTW, that ‘88 Biscayne Mack never broke down on me mechanically, just the blown out tire here and there.
Wow, left those front brakes back at the factory.
Lol
Sure would like to see a video of someone operating it under a load. Going through the gears.
Um " clássico " !!! Lindo...relíquia
Someone actually plumbed copper lines. Love it
we put on all new belts and hoses but all the original copper lines were perfect even after all these years.. this truck could be put to work tomorrow but you would have to find a driver that liked to shift a lot of gears, didn't mind the no/ac in the summer and had strong steering arms without having any p/s.. Love it man, just love it. Dad drove one when I was little and the air starter used to scare the hell out of me . She is a beauty.
Phantom 309!
very nice looking truck thanx for showing it to us ehhh
I demand a driving video!!!!
very nice....that classic Mack engine rattle
They just dont build things like they used too..good solid truck with lots of character🙏🍺
Piece of art!
This video brought to you by Hank Hill........But seriously thanks for posting this awesome video.
THAT is a truck, built when trucks were meant to be TRUCKS! !
NIce old truck. Please explain what makes a quadraplex transmission if I'm so lucky that you see this.
sorry for getting back to you over a YEAR late! but I don't keep up with this too often.. a Quadruplex transmission has between 18 and 20 speeds ( some are duplicated.. you skip them. it has a main 5 speed transmission and a 4 speed auxiliary transmission (5 x4)
Old girl has got a right pretty dress...I think she needs a new set of sneakers...
Mack is Mack
cant put a price tag on that Bulldog!
Thanks very much!
beautiful
Ooohhhhhh il est beau 👍👍👍magnifique le moteur tourné impeccable 😁😁😁❤❤❤ j adore 🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️
Beautiful!
What idiot gave this a thumbs down 👇? She is a gorgeous honey of a truck
Lets be brutally honest b models would get their doors blown off by today's trucks its like comparing a model t ford to a maseriti !
Strong!
Ole thermodyne
I'm in love!!!!!!!
I always liked the B model Mack, though the cab certainly wasn't designed to accommodate a taller driver.
Hank Hill.... is that you???
