    im so glad this school is bringing up these issues.. SM east is probably the most racist and white school I have ever been to, my team and I traveled there for an away basketball game... I was in front of the SM east side the whole time and parents and even kids were calling our black players “monkeys” and “animals”... disgusting. one of our administrators had to write a letter to this school because it was so bad.

    I don't go to this school but from what personally I see this school is predominantly white. And that being the majority of white students are uncultured you probably haven't been outside of the states or met people from different cultures or countries. I'm personally sad for this school because ether high school I got to is very very diverse we have people from literally all over the world. And I'm glad to know thatIm fortunate to have the chance to have a real world experience. I digress, since this school has a white majority i feel like the school system should implicate clubs and different activities to get these white students aware that there's different people on this earth. They should also have systems that show students tolerance. For example on a comment I saw here someone said "If you can't accept criticism... then the real problem is you overstated your expectation" First off as a white man you can't tell POC how to feel. Let's put it like this say that I supported your opposing team and your team lost and you were upset and I tell you "stop whining" I can't really tell you to stop because thats how you feel because you support the team. It's the same way for POC in America you don't know how we feel because you're not on our "team".

      @@pchamberlain1984 nah, that's not what they're trying to say. There are a lot of places in the US that have larger minority populations. I think they are just saying that when you are not exposed to very many people from a minority population, or when they don't have a voice, that it's incredibly difficult to have insight on their perspective. If the only people you ever talk to are white americans, how are you supposed to have realistic insight on what it's like to be a black american? the only way you will perceive black americans is by the biased portrayals of black americans in the news and in the the biased perspectives of fellow white americans. I grew up in a small 99% white town in South Dakota, and then moved to a city in North Carolina where white people represent a minority of the population. If there's anything I can tell you, it's that exposure to diverse perspectives makes a huge difference in the way I see the world.

    Just because people see differences doesn't mean they hate you. If you can't accept criticism unless it's warranted on a philosophical level that's in agreement with you, then the REAL problem is your overstated expectation that says you need the world to kiss your rear because you're different. Grow a backbone, learn tolerance, and quit running to the corner that always scorns those who disagree with you. THAT is the seeds of racism.

      First of all, I don't personally care what anyone does during the National Anthem. But if its a pro team that is paying you to be dignified, that might be an issue with your employer. People don't seem to understand the difference between an expression on the street and when you're on the clock with your employer. If the person kneeling has to make a choice then it;s their choice. Be an activist full time or be one part time so you can keep receiving your income. Again, I don't have a dog in that race.
      That's you trying to label me. Forget it. You don't know me. And cultural differences are just fine as long as they don't impede on my business. To each their own. Whether you agree with how someone lives is separate to how you should treat them as your neighbor, work associate, or simply someone in passing. This notion that I HAVE to accept you but also be made to agree with you sounds like the request of a 10 year old. Grow up. Respect those around you so you may be respected yourself. People can agree to disagree and live in peace. This generation hasn't figured that out yet.

    • @Authentricity
      @Authentricity 6 лет назад +1

      "No. the problem is people like you."
      The problem with filtering everything through the lens of race, is that there is no way to differentiate acts or experiences that stem from other motives. In race-obsessed individuals, the subconscious and psychological default is to assume race as the motivating factor in almost any and all negative experiences one has. Oftentimes "race" becomes an excuse to explain away general human hardships one experiences in communication and relationships. Another individual who is not perceiving through a race filter will have to come to grips with their lack of skills, intellect, character, drives, purposes, passions, ethics, morality, beliefs. They must judge the experience from the content of their character and not through the shade of their skin. But when race is the go-to excuse, one will never confront the myriad of other flaws that are restricting life experiences. Such misplaced blame usually retards the growth of the individual as they stay hard-focused upon superficial identity markers.
      "But it's different for white people..."
      I would say that the major difference, again, is that the they are not filtering their experience through race, and therefore they can confront the truly limiting flaws in their overall thinking and character. Adversity and challenges are an opportunity which can aid in our growth and teach us how to respond instead of reacting to actions from others that are out of our control. Remember, that which you resist, persists. Today this is more obvious than ever.
