      lol I think they meant the owl is Japanese because that specific owl lives in Japan in probably a zoo or wildlife center? Like how if someones parents are of one race but they have a in other country the kid is a citizen of the country it was born in.. Like I would call my dog american, but her breed comes from Germany? Hope that helped:)

    • @bentricky
      @bentricky 9 лет назад +26

      Actually, the idea is to look like a tree. See how it turns it's back to the other owl? It's feathers on it's back are meant to be the same colour as the trees they like to sit in...it's actually hiding. The facial expressions are harsh and angular like a tree. They just also happen to scare the pants off of me.

Hating an entire group of people/a nation because they showed an African owl's camouflaging techniques and laughed at how cute it was. So please, before I see any more ignorant comments like that, PLEASE STOP, AND GO SPREAD YOUR RACIST IDEOLOGY ELSEWHERE. Thank you.

    maybe it realize that that darth vader owl is too big to be mocked with larger-look body, so it mimic tree branch instead.

    • @Xalerdane
      @Xalerdane 3 года назад +2

      That is LITERALLY what happened.
      Against owls roughly its own size, it fluffs up to appear bigger as a scare tactic.
      Against owls too big for that to work, it instead contracts its feathers, extends its neck, and squints its eyes in order to blend in with the tree its perched on.
      Granted, there’s no tree here, but owls are instinctual creatures.

    You lied to me. You said that this owl was from Japan when they clearly stated several times that it's from Africa. You don't need to know Japanese to figure that out they give you a map of Africa that says in English "The Republic of South Africa" on it. Just because the person is speaking Japanese doesn't mean the owl is from Japan silly. That's like saying that a Tanuki is American just because I'm holding it in USA talking about it in English.

    I volunteer at a center that does education programs with birds of prey. You might be surprised at just how much control birds have over their feathers. The first reaction you see is when the owl tries to make itself look bigger, which is called toe-dusting because the feathers on their chin almost touch their toes. The second reaction is the owl trying to hide from a perceived threat, and it tries to use it's camouflage to look like a branch (despite there not being one behind it, it has a brain the size of a nut, give it a break). These reactions aren't unique to this kind of owl, as many smaller owls will try to hide, and many larger ones will toe-dust, depending on whether they think they can intimidate the threatening animal. Do some research, these are amazing animals that demand a high degree of respect for nature!

      “Birds with unique skills, number 1! The bird that transforms its attitude depending on who’s there - the amazing tranformation! Inhabiting The Republic of South Africa is the ‘Afurika Okonohazuku’. About 20cm in height, a small owl with striking orange eyes. man -“When an enemy approaches, they transform” - amazingly, they change their body shape according to the strength of the other! And here is ‘Popo-chan’ the Afurika Ookonohazuku (cuute! wow!).
      Let’s see her amazing abilities: first up is the timid-looking ‘menfukurou’ (lives worldwide, 35cm high), which is a lesser bird from Popo-chan’s perspective. What kind of tranformation will we see?!…when the menfukurou gets close..(trumpets) it spreads its wings and glares. Towards lesser birds, it asserts: ‘I’m strong!!’ - and we see a super-confident Popo-chan!…
      However!!..when the ‘washimimizuku’ approaches (inhabits African continent, 75cm, large owl) that attitude does a 180 - exactly what are we going to see?! Seeing the approach of a washimimizuku, Popo-chan looks slightly alarmed. Next minute, we see an astounding transformation!! (this is it…1 2 3 ) (Popo-chan) (laughter). Let’s take a look one more time - when it saw the washimimizuku approach it rapidly began to shrink its body (‘fast forward’). As we keep observing, it closes its eyes and ends up looking like this (laughter), ending up practically half its usual size. The washimimizuku sees it as a tree branch?!…Apparently. And a major trait of this skill - because the feathers on its back are practically the same colours as the tree branch, it keeps moving to make sure that its back is always facing the enemy (laughter). Hmm, you would think that this would make it more obvious…
      How does it it do this instant transformation? Owls are actually surrounded by a mass of feathers, and their actual bodies are not that big. So all it did was contract its feathers close to its body all in one go. The Afurika Ooknohazuku is especially adept at manipulating its feathers in this way - using its own skills to protect itself - we have witnessed the very unique skills that emerged from needing to survive in the wild. And that concludes the nomiations for best animals from the adult team.”

      are you really questioning nationality of an owl? I'd say it lives in japanese zoo, it's japanese owl, it was probably born in captivity too... OwO hoot!

      *****
      Yes, the root, "natio" or nation means birth place - but with animals, when discussing "nationality," what we generally are referring to is where the animal is from, or where its natural habitat is, which is more meaningful than where it or its ancestors happen to have been forcibly transported. Is this too difficult a concept for a moron like yourself to understand?

    • @HeartNSuspension
      @HeartNSuspension 8 лет назад

      +ShinKyuubi Because the owl they brought in was an elite owl. You know. The "Big Daddy" owl. That's why the African owl got scared and pretended it was old and gauntly because he was showing the big one he wasn't a threat.
