    Hi Christine, I started going grey when I was 16. I’m almost 30 now. I used to bleach my hair platinum to try and “hide” the grey. It was actually you specifically who inspired me to stop coloring my hair and letting it go grey naturally. I also have dark hair so the grey is really noticeable. Thank you for inspiring me to let my natural hair be what it wants to be: grey! Now I think it’s really cool and I’ve almost got some streaks going!

    If more people would keep their grey hairs, maybe we would find it normal. Many women feel like it makes them look tired. I personally think it looks beautiful and it makes you look interesting, especially because it looks shiny and wavy. It’s super cool that you decided to keep it natural, when most people feel pressured to change it.

  • @mikayocc

    This is great, Christine. The other day my Asian Mom did the same thing your parents did - she stared at me like I was a freak, and said, "wow, your hair is really graying, are you gonna dye it?" It bothered me because she's in her 70's, and wished she could've had more grace and wisdom, and made me feel more accepted. I dye it maybe twice a year, but during Co-Vid, I just don't care, and wished people could be more accepting of women and aging hair. Men get called "silver fox", or sexy, for having salt + pepper hair, but women get called dowdy or old. It sucks, and this needs to change!

    • @ritatocta7583

      Like in the comments we discover that most people have greys very young, we just don't see it on the media, same for moms. My mom says hurtful crazy stuff sometimes, but I've come to notice that most do. Not saying it is ideal, but just saying is common. It took me a while (all my life lol) but we shouldn't be concerned with what moms say. Most people have grey hairs. Most moms are messed up. It takes the idealized pression out of it. ❤️

    • @mikayocc
      @mikayocc 3 года назад +4

      @@ritatocta7583 Sure, but just because *most* mom's say it, doesn't mean we don't have feelings, and are human, and are vulnerable to what our parents/family/friends say. That's why I appreciate Christine's video, and everyone's comments. It's nice to read everyone's comments and feel like you're not alone.

    • @ritatocta7583
      @ritatocta7583 3 года назад +2

      @@mikayocc completely agree with you, I think it's super shity not to receive care and respect from one of the persons who we love most, or even the story Christine told about her grandmother pulling her hair?! I wasn't saying that it doesn't hurt, it still messes with my emotions, I was just sharing that I came to the conclusion that usually it won't change and it is what it is. For me it changed my approach to my mother who always disregards what I say versus other people. But of course you have feelings and deserve to be listened ❤️ I was just sharing that personally I don't expectat good wise stuff from my mother anymore and have noticed that the women around me who couldn't care less what their messed up mother comment are more happy.

    • @mikayocc
      @mikayocc 3 года назад +3

      @@ritatocta7583 Yeah, sometimes acceptance is important. But even in her older age, my Mom is a sensitive person, and she's slowly changed as I've not given up on her and told her how I feel about how she makes me feel. She's definitely changed because I never gave up on thinking she could be *better*. There are others (like my cousins) who don't bother, and get in fights with my relatives who make rude comments. I think expressing how you feel, if you feel hurt/upset, is still important - even if you don't think your family/parents will change. I know there are cultural factors, and everyone is different, but I've refused to allow my Mom to say rude things to me without telling her how it makes me feel.

A big part of it for me is just living it and not worrying about my hair. Just going out even if I know that there might be people I meet who expect me to have hair that looks a certain way and just say well this is me and this is what I'm doing. I’ve been watching RUclipsrs for quiet some time and when I first came across your videos and noticed your grays i instantly felt so much admiration and pride over the fact that here I was watching a young female influencer who was proud to display her grays and never felt the need to explain herself as to why she chose to keep it natural as opposed to dying it and I appreciated it. For someone like myself who’s never dyed her hair nor ever want to dye it but now has tons of gray really appreciate people like you who puts themselves out there in the public eye and still embrace every part of themselves because without people like you, I wouldn’t feel as confident enough to continue embracing my own grays. ever since you started showing your natural grey hair (and I've been following you practically since the beginning) I completely fell in love!! it looks so gracious and ethereal and I am so glad you are speaking about it and empowering others to also embrace their natural hair. also, this reminded me of marina and the diamonds (the singer) who also started to embrace her greying hair in recent years and I applaud her for it, since it must be so hard on her in the music business where women are always pressured to look young and sexy to stay relevant

    I had a zoom call with a colleague and she was awkwardly cropping the top of her head out of the frame. At first I thought maybe she wasn't aware of how she was slightly out of frame. But as the conversation got more friendly and chit-chatty and less about business, she revealed that she hadn't dyed her hair since COVID hit and was purposely keeping the top of her head out of view. I had no idea that she was self-conscious about her greyed out roots. That's when I said, "Oh my god, I LOVE grey hair! I think it's beautiful!" She beamed and finally showed her full self.
    My mom developed greys early in her late 20s so I always associate grey hair with her and have always loved it. As luck would have it, what I thought was the beginning of a grey-over, never came. I would have some strands here and there, but I'm still waiting for my silver streaks to kick in. Your hair is absolutely lovely!

    My hair also started graying young. It’s very silvery and more interesting than my normal hair. My dad told me it looks exactly the shade of his aunt’s gray hair who he really loved. So looking at it in the mirror makes me think of her and feel happy =) I’ve always noticed your silvery hair peeking out in videos and thought it looked so beautiful. I’d love to see more ladies feel comfortable rockin’ it!

    If you want to grow out gray or white hair but the line of demarcation is a deterring issue for you, you can get a hair dresser to blend the two colors so the grow out of your new color is easier.

    Yay! My hair is grey too. Glad to see more people actually showing their white hairs off! Love this video, because when not a lot of people are sporting their grey hair you can feel like the odd one out. What's been hard is dealing with the new texture as my hair gets even more grey. My white hairs are really wirey too! I wish there were more videos on how to take care of grey hair and the frizz.

    Grey hair is so beautiful! I always admire a full head of grey, white or salt and pepper at any age. As a ginger, I'm looking forward to the day when I'll fade to white, but definitely enjoying the bright red hue it is now!
    One of my favourite parts of ageing gracefully is the confidence that often accompanies changing looks and you wear it well!
    Thanks for sharing

    Thanks so much for this video ❤️ I started going grey at 17 and nearly 10 years on now I'm starting to embrace it more and thinking about letting it grow out. I recently started to get brighter highlights instead of getting dark all over dyes so that is helping with the transition..

    I never dyed my hair and even though I am 31 now and my hair is finally making a statement about it (grey hairs appearing on the top of my head), I feel happy and relieved and have been searching for people who share the same values as me online! Thanks for this Christine, a few years back you were an inspiration. But that grandma pulling your hair story 💀💀

    Thank you for this. I started getting more grays this year. I’m 30 now. I first I was so conscious about it. Now I’m like whatever I’m getting old and I’m going to embrace it. Idk why there’s so much shame about gray hairs. Your hair looks lovely I hope mine looks like that. 💜

    ????? People are SO fixated on NOT "becoming older", "anti-aging" like you said, or showing signs of aging, especially when it's a NATURAL process. Thank you for this BEAUTIFUL video and message. You are such a breath of fresh air.

    I started going grey in my early 30s and dyed it for about 10 years. I stopped because I got fed up with the cost and time it took to cover the greys. The transition time was fairly short because I had/have a pixie cut. I love it grey - no more trying to cover my roots until the next colour appointment, it’s basically “this is me, take it or leave it”. Your hair looks beautiful!

    Your hair is so cool! I'm 34 and i have a handful of grays, and i love them. I think they're neat. I've been dying my hair for years because i like trying different colors, but i do wish i could keep my gray stands free of the dye!

    I have really dark brown hair and I've had a white hair spot since middle school! I'm also getting more greys/white along my hairline and I'm 25! I kinda can't wait till i'm fully white/grey. My dad was like 75% white hair in his 30's.

    Go Christine! I'm sorry to hear that people commented like this on your grey hair in the past when it's so important to support people in their decisions about being true to what they want to do. I see more and more grey hairs on myself and struggle to come to terms with it. It's not even the hairs itself, but the thought that I'm just not a teenager any more (I still think of myself as being 16 when I'm really 31). Anyway, your hair looks great and so do your tattoos. So colourful :)
