    just giving you some advice Neil if you run with that walkie talkie in your pocket you might find your troosers around your ankles and the 5-O with their blues n twos blaring pulling you over for an inspection 😂😂😂
    Nice bit of kit that handset, Knights do the mics for them so if you want to get one give Duggie a bell. 73

      The only thing with the speaker mic your talking about, they sound poor on RX through them (I own one)

      I know Duggie supplies the mic for various handsets I bought one for my Randy and that one seems ok, although a little quiet on receive with it being small and totally useless and in a loud environment but it's pretty loud on TX.. a friend has the Thunderpole same as Neil's handset and yes as you say it is rather quiet on RX.. it's okay on the riverbank or across a quiet pond when we go fishing, I think you have to weigh up where you have to use it and see if it's suited.. but from looking at both mics they do seem rather cheap.

      You definitely couldn’t run with that in your pocket Glen. 😂 To be honest most running shorts don’t have pockets for that reason🤣.I normally use a small backpack with a few treats in so there’s enough room in there for a little handie.Maybe some way to Clip it to my backpack straps without it bouncing about would be cool.
      Unsure what to do with my other planned adventures with bigger kit but we will think about that another day.

    I’ve seen these advertised and thought about getting myself one as I haven’t had a cb for about 30 yrs and as I’m on my own and not to far from you after checking out some of your videos. Are cb’s making a comeback as I don’t want to fork out £100 to be sat with no one to talk too. I’m right at the foot of Carlton bank and one worry I have is signal as it would only be used at home but do you think I’d get enough of a signal to warrant getting one?

    • @gtretroworld
      @gtretroworld  Год назад +2

      I would probably say no for your location although if you could get up the top of Carlton bank i would say absolutely yes especially when the propagation is right. As for CB taking off there’s pockets of us old boys chatting on a night and the odd local farmer.Personally i would buy a base antenna and a Multimode CB Radio which will give you a much better experience at home,especially as we reach the solar peek.I was using this all last week over York and it was great fun but obviously it has its limitations..Hope this helps.

    i bought 6 President Randys . All of the antennas fell apart . I purchased aftermarket HYS antennas plus BNC to TNT adapters so we could continue to use the radios. Where can I buy these radios ? I want the European version because they still use USA frequencies. Im here in New York City
