  • G'day everyone, Thanks for coming back to watch another of my videos!
This is the Video everyone was waiting for, the Brand New 351 Cleveland 450 HP First Start up, and Camshaft Break In process!
I had a lot of people asking when I would have this ready to upload after I did the Pre-Start Checks and Tips video last Friday. If you haven't seen it please check it out. Thank you all so much everyone for the support!
It was real nice to have a few guys personally touch base asking questions about there Clevelands, the test light, and even asking me to come and work on there early Ford Muscle Cars. It's not easy to try and make videos like this, and it means a lot to me when guys do go out of there way to message me and thank me, or give me some Positive feedback!
I have had some great suggestions for future videos too, I will start to make happen. If you learn anything at all from watching this, Please Subscribe to show your support! Thanks Ozzy

@@thclevoking It is just that I have a fresh .030 over forged flat tops Cleveland short block with bare heads and I haven't built one of these engines before. I have been in search of knowledge for a while. I would prefer to do it right the first time. I am particularly trying to carve my way through all the "oiling mods" suggestions which go from nothing needed to routing lines and everything in between.
I will agree to a non-disclosure agreement if that would help and this is truly just for my own build so I don't mess it up. I would then not disclose to anyone else the information I get from you on this build. Mine might take some of what has gone into this build but I also want to make it my own so it won't be a carbon copy anyway. If this is still not acceptable I will continue to research on my own where I can get good information from so my build comes out successfully. Good information seems difficult to come by in the U.S. which is where I am. So far I haven't even found an engine shop in my general area that has any expertise in the oil mods.

@@macfranks2456 , the Cleveland is an amazing performance engine and responds quite well to properly matched components. Over the course of 40 years, I’ve seen the best and worst along the way. Just know there’s a lot of misinformation about Clevelands online and I hope you will know the difference while gathering information for your build. The Clevelands Forever website is one of the oldest and best online. The engine builds archive has some good ideas that you might find useful. Check it out. 351c.net
Tim Meyer is a Master Machinist and Clevelands are his specialty. He offers hardcore parts along with a few obsolete Cleveland Parts that he reproduces in his shop. He is also working with foundries here in the States to manufacture new iron and aluminum alloy blocks with updated main bearing priority oiling systems and improved strength overall. They look identical to the production D2AE four-bolt main blocks and feature full Cleveland architecture so OEM and aftermarket parts can be used. Check him out. tmeyerinc.com
Tim Halstead has a good series of RUclips videos explaining all of the various components and engine building techniques that he used to build the 408C in his ‘69 Cougar street driver. He runs consistent 9.60’s in the quarter mile using a stock block, single 4-V without power adders. The 408 dyno videos are posted too. It made 752 horsepower @ 7600 rpms and 571 lb/ft of torque @ 5600 rpms.

ould you be able to tell why my cams keep failing? I installed 2 Elgin cams and the 2 lobes were worn on the first mild cam and then all 16 lobes on a heavier 2nd cam. Using new 8.400" pushrods but reused stock rocker arms (maybe that's why they were wiped) I pumped the lifters up in an oil bath and lubed everything and then primed the oil pump. Started the engine and ran at 2500 rpm for 25 minutes. What is a good cam kit for the 3rd try if this was not installation error?

    • @hoedemakerbart
