BA became a very ordinary airline after the retirement of Concorde. Add to that, a drubbing from the low cost carriers, with customers taking SH business in that direction, rather than pay way over the odds for BA. They stood still with their LH product too, never catching up with the likes of Emirates, Qatar, Cathay and SAL. Theyve just relied on its old rep from the 80s and 90s, which the travelling public is more in tune to, and taking their business elsewhere.
The downfall of BA is that they have a staff retention problem, low wages and remove things they used to have a standard and making them seem like a low cost carrier.
It's a bit of a stretch these days to describe them as "British" Airways. They serve fewer UK airports than KLM, are part of IAG which is based in Spain, and which is 25% owned by Qatar Airways
The latest contempt for their customers is only opening check ins 2 hours before departure at many airports. It’s grating to see even Ryanair offering a longer checkin period. Very stressful if you have lots of luggage or have to clear customs etc.
I think the issue lies with the budget airlines. British Airways (BA) observes the practices of carriers like Ryanair, EasyJet (though not as much), and Wizz. Despite their subpar customer service and fares that aren’t exactly “bargain” prices, these three airlines continue to attract a steady stream of passengers. BA seems to be contemplating, “Why remain British Airways when we could transform into Budget Airways?”.
I fly BA because it is often the only non-budget airline available. For long haul flights, where I have a choice, I try to fly Emirates or Asian airlines.
Flew BA to Mauritius last year on a 777. The experience was very basic. didn't feel special or cared for. staff just did their job and that was it. From being the worlds favourite airline that once really pushed the boat out, and was a world leader in Aviation to lackluster average airline... Very sad to see that passion gone
On my most recent flight in “premium” economy my foot rest was broken my tv was scratched my headphones were missing then the ones they gave me were broken then someone left their medication in there suit case so they had to look for it which caused a 2hours delay
British Airways is circling the plughole. Diversity and inclusion takes priority over everything else. The aircraft are tired and worn and the service second rate.
When IAG was formed, 55% of it was given to BA shareholders. So it's most certainly not that. Also worth noting that IAG is 25% owned by Qatar Airways. Greed and poor management is what has ruined the airline. Not the Spanish.
BA recorded 10 straight years of profit in the run up to the pandemic, with fantastic performance 2016-19….compare this to consistent loses at Virgin Atlantic. Ultimately, BA has adapted to a changing environment and price pressures following European deregulation in the late 1990s. We can gripe about a worse service proposition compared to the 1980s, but we’re paying significantly less for fares which, ultimately, is what consumers want. They have also had to respond to the Middle East 3 who are heavily subsidised by their governments and so operate with an unfair commercial advantage.
And yet some other European airlines have managed to get through it and maintain significantly higher service levels. Air France, Swiss and Turkish are all rated higher than BA. Even Iberia is now rated higher by Skytrax.
It’s not really supposed to be taken seriously. I’m just describing how much angst I have against them. Sorry if it does not focus on the business side as much as the branding side
They're nowhere near the airline they once were. In Europe alone, BA is now rated below the likes of Air France, Swiss and Turkish. Someone else said in these comments that BA on short haul is a pseudo budget airline. That's true.
I've had such a mixed experience with BA sometimes they've been quite brilliant other times they've been utter rubbish.

In Venice recently they would only open 90 mins before!

Nice Video Buddy. I wish you every success with this Channel.

Where exactly are you flying from? Very, very rare that BA is the only non budget airline at an airport.
@th8257 I fly from Heathrow. Say you fly to Marseille what other non budget airline is flying there direct? Plenty of other examples in Europe
British Airways has basically become a pseudo budget airline on their domestic and short haul flights mainly.

Awful airline no matter what class you pay for.

I love these videos keep up the good work 👍👍
It's the Spanish shareholders. They have no pride in the BA brand.

Bring back the Landor Livery and get rid of the woke crap too!
U ok Hun?
Never really had cause to complain and this seems more about likes and dislikes of livery than actual financials and product quality.

@@HillierHugh no worries - liked the video overall and I think you sell yourself short on its seriousness it's very nicely done.
