    #12 Matthew and daeul were given complete different edits. mnet did give Matthew a chance to explain his side, he was rather given a chance to explain his situation in comparison to daeul was given an evil edit, while not given a chance to explain himself but tbh he did lack quite a lot skill at that time to prove himself.

    • @rainosaurus
      @rainosaurus  Год назад

      Fair point - the edits are different, but the fundamental narrative I believe Mnet was pushing for those 2 at the time of the edit is the same. A selfish member who is reluctant to give up their part even though the rest of the group thinks that it is what's best for them. And the fact that their skill level is used as a means by the producers to decide whether they get to explain themselves in the episode, and even by the show viewers in excusing this behaviour by the producers - THAT's the double standard.

    4:00 Yes he has? Mnet was just more focused on shoving the camera in the face of a poor crying child. Jiwoong did an excellent job with the Backdoor K team and it shows by how the members til this day want to be in a team with him and well...how they won the entire mission although that was the mission with the most groups competing. Their group chant was literally just his own name. And to many people including myself he proved himself to be leader material during the matthew situation. Yes. Sung Hanbin is an incredible teacher but he didn't have the heart to suggest they switch parts. Lots of conflict could've been avoided if he had just said what he was thinking when he first noticed them strugging with their parts. Jiwoong was the one who suggested it which was the right move in my opinion as both matthew and seungeon sounded way better in their new parts. (No, i don't think matthew was in the wrong either, having your heart set on a part isn't a crime). Jiwoong isn't just the oldest, he has been a trainee since 2010/11, has been in three groups and is someone people lean on for support. He has the industry experience, patience and skills necessary to be a leader. A leader also needs to stand up for their members so who would be better than the guy who has sued two companies he has been in? He has been through the worst of the industry so I trust him to make sure the other members don't experience anything like that. I could go on and on about how he would be a good leader but he just fits the bill the best out of everyone currently in the Top 9. I would argue out of everyone left but that's entirely just a preference in leadership methods.

    • @byuntaed

      @byuntaed Jiwoong has really become the older brother of all the contestants he has worked with. I think it's especially endearing how yujin teases him and doesn't use honorifics when talking to him. It makes alot of sense considering yujin is the age of jiwoong's actual baby brother. I love the videos of all these contestants excitedly pointing out ads or photocards of their "Jiwoong hyung" while they are out in public meeting fans

    Definitely agree that the voting should be flipped and honestly, the show should focus more in general on building a group. A group that's actually balanced, because certain positions need to be filled. Bigger mentors inputs or a different way to structure the show would be better

    • @byuntaed
      @byuntaed Год назад

      If it was flipped many filler trainees would debut which don't have a strong fandom backing them up. like what's the point of debuting if your fans aren't going to buy the albums, not steam the songs, not vote for u to go on variety shows. MNET need to scrap that 50/50 vote distribution to see who the strong contestant is. At the end of the day, once they debut, merch will not be divided bet Korean and international fans anyway. There are more talented contestants that are wasted bec of this rule. And also, maybe give the mentors a share in the voting too plus ability to bring a back a contestant.

    • @rainosaurus
      @rainosaurus  Год назад +3

      Yes I think so too, they should be weighing domestic and international success equally - especially today! Like why push K-pop to be such a global force in international music if at the end of the day you care mostly of what the domestic fans want (not trying to be rude but I really do want to understand better). And definitely the mentors should have some say in the evaluations tbh, I don't think fans should decide absolutely everything (app votes, on-site stage scores, mission song allocations). But for some reason I feel like they're saving the mentor's planet pass for the finale... 👀

  • @alicebetraty4522
    @alicebetraty4522 Год назад +7

    I actually have a hot take. International fans are actually way more biased than korean fans. They will only vote for global fans for no actual reason. So instead of finding reasons to vote for someone and rooting for that person because you like them, they'll literally vote for people and then find reasons to justify that vote. Like please get it together.
    Also I'm worried about the final group. The onepick system is trash because it's gonna create a fractured fandom and we'll have a flop group. People who are generally liked by both international and korean fans won't make the group because of strong one people fandoms even though technically they would be more popular, as in generally liked by a larger amount of people instead of fanatically followed by a small group of people.
    Ya I can already see the amount of drama there's gonna be when the final lineup is announced. And we're gonna have yet another group who's less popular than the show that formed them...

    #4 it doesn't cause while voting for 9 contest many would become filler, meaning won't have a stable fan base. 1 pick power determines the strength of a fan base and if the debut grp would have a loyal fan base or not.

    • @rainosaurus
      @rainosaurus  Год назад

      Hmm I disagree here. I think the reason why people could have 'filler' picks in the first place is because they have to vote for many contestants that they don't even feel much of an attachment to, which happens when you start off the show with having to vote for 9 (i.e. like now). This would be less of a problem when flipped, because people naturally would form more attachments with more contestants as the show progresses and we see more of them, so we'd be voting for less 'filler' picks. I'm sure there are more people frustrated with having too little votes for too many picks at this point in the show, than those who were frustrated at having too many votes for too little picks at the start of the show (if that makes sense). And I still think the overall balance of the final group matters more than individual member's one-pick power when determining commercial success.

    i love ur videos btw lol, specifically these ones. ill share mine too. (all opinions after episodes 9 and 10)
    #1. its so true. peope are voting for all vocalists, or all dancers, but thats not how a group is gonna run properly.
    #2. agreed. i also think if higher ranked trainees are put with some lower ones, the lower ones might have a better chance. like, if every member in the group is top9, and they get the benefit, whats the point? its just leaving the lower ranked people stranded, further pushing them away from top 9
    #3. this is EXACTLY what ive been saying. and the star masters appreciate jay more than the ridiculous audience. a lot of people voting only vote based off of visuals, not actual skill. like a lot of koreans dont like jay because he "doesnt fit the korean beauty standards"
    #4. this is true. it seems more fair as well. this way ur actually building a group, as you said.
    #5. agreed. this was very evil. they put in hard work for no reason and lots of people felt discouraged and didnt try at all. they said "whats the point of practicing hard if we are going to be eliminated anyway" i especially love that even though wunmuti was eliminated, he tried his best the whole time
    #6. i agree. im not sure why a lot of people hate on him. he was praised during the star level test.
    #7. i agree. he would be hated on even more if he was competitive. and, he also lost his confidence because of the endless hate he is receiving, resulting in him being less noticable (although i will always noice him ofc)
    #8. i find the final voting hours/ the extra time stupid, it feels fake, like its mnets doing not the actual fans.
    #9. agreed. i will leave it at that. u said it.
    #10. yup yup yup.
    #11. agreed. he is a hyung to most.
    #12. in the most respectful way possible, was it really edited? cuz he still said those things. i sound like a naive fan falling into mnets trap, but its hard to know whats what. they are trying to create drama. matthew also said he was sorry and knew it was selfish, so it triggered me a lot as well, but we will never know what really happened. honestly, after that whole situation it made me not like matthew as much. his high rank has gotten him a lot of privlege. im very happy with the way hanbin carried the situation. hes a good leader.
