Really amazing work here. I've always wanted to do a Raven Guard Army and this is super inspiring. The concept of scavenging bits from other chapters from the Drop Site is very cool. This to me is what the hobby is all about. I really appreciate what you do.
Gawd! I love the Raven Guard they are really the under dogs and yet they are still so badass - love their iconography, choice of weapons and style of warfare - and who doesn't love Corax!
First of all...hey buddy! great fan of your channel, loved your titans! I've set this during the 30k era, during the drop site massacre, in the book they talk about the survivors grabbing bits of armour off the dead, to replace their own. But I know what you mean about the taint in 40k, id never do it in a 40k army ; )
its mk4 legs and arms and shouler pads, mixed with beaky heads, and some mk 2 shoulder pads. I wanted the command squad to look different from the main army of mk4 armour.,
Love it, love it. But didn't the Raven Guard end up with Mk 6 Corvus armor after the massacre? I remember a short story with the Imperial Fists delivering a huge amount of Mk 6 to the RG.
Thank you for the reply, I've got the collected visions hardback art book but I was more thinking about rule books ( should have made that clear in my first post ). The Betrayal book contains enough 40k rules or will I need 6th ed, last lot of 40k rules and codex's I have are from 2nd ed lol. So many armour books on FW site also and that made me wonder do I need any of them to begin with was all. PS Your Raven Guard CS look nuts with the mish-mash armour.
The best books to date are, Horus Heresy collected visions, and the forge world betrayal book, but by far the best info you can get and is free is off the net ; )
As far as I know the mk 6 armour was in development during the last era of the great crusade, and was intended to be mk V, if the heresy hadn't intervened and created the need for the heresy era mk V which was easily produced en mass. That's all found in the fluff in the novels :) The Raven Guard had this armour before the drop site massacre, after the betrayal was known by the emperor, focus shifted from developing armour to just making as much as possible for the coming onslaught.
Cool minis ... one question, however ... don't they only use Mk4 armour, at the newest, at the dropsite massacre, only receiving the first delivery of Mk6 after they return to Deliverence? (per Deliverence Lost)
I'm sorry for the fluff N@zi outburst! i love them anyway! You should listen to Deliverance Lost as an audio book on the way to work or while you paint! get you in the ZONE! its really great! Corax is such a DUDE!
Does the powerfist have a different initiative in the book you are referencing? In the BRB they are initiative 1. I ask because you said you chose the powerfist over the thunder hammer because the thunder hammer was a lower initiative. 3:32
What varnish did you use on those Brian, was it the Humbrol stuff in the background? I find with the GW Purity Seal I lose a lot of the colour blending on the highlights and shading :-(
Your models are awesome and I hate to be a douche but the Raven guard didnt get the mk vi armour till post dropsite massacre ... Beautiful minis though !!!
love the models Man lovely paint jobs, but any True loyal Space marine Would NEVER use a traitors armor due to the mistake of becoming one remember the Tant of chaos is on everything if a real loyal Marine comes across them they would be shot on site and there Geanseed purged there is countless "fluff" pointing to this
oh sorry my bad mate thanks for the complement I was thinking of something newer I take back anything that came across as bad or rude no offense meant or anything my good man your friends was in the armed service what branch ? I to served in the royal Marines

Another fantastic project you've started Brian. You're a constant inspiration for me to stop slaking and keep painting my 30K IF army.
awesome looking mini's mate, and I love the sticking to the fluff...can't wait to see the unit finished.
Gawd! I love the Raven Guard they are really the under dogs and yet they are still so badass - love their iconography, choice of weapons and style of warfare - and who doesn't love Corax!

I am not sure why I got distracted this time but couldn't help noticing your hands look HUGE in this video lol, on another note, looking great mate :)
Awesome love the aesthetic! One problem fluff wise...corvus helms weren't used until after the dropsite massacre ; ( not a big deal tho love the work
The best books to date are, Horus Heresy collected visions, and the forge world betrayal book, but by far the best info you can get and is free is off the net ; )
Looking great mate
i envy how motivated you are for your hobby
Hey there, Yeah I know, I wanted something to look different from all my Mk4 armour that i've brought, they are my command squad after all ; )

Love the idea of the scavenged armour - in the HH fluff how common is terminator armour?
Thanks matey!
If you read the fluff for the Mk 6 it says the raven guard got prototypes before the massacre.
Thanks chap, really kind of you ; )
cheers matey, very kind of you ; )
Great start too the Raven Guard army.
Nice unit as normal!!! Just wondering if you will be popping down to the FW open day?
Cool minis ... one question, however ... don't they only use Mk4 armour, at the newest, at the dropsite massacre, only receiving the first delivery of Mk6 after they return to Deliverence? (per Deliverence Lost)

did your banner pole have a funny little bit just at the bottom of the banner too?
They look great Brian! Did you use Minitaire Paints on them? and how do you paint and highlight your black?
Sure am, in about a month, you will see some more gaming tables popping up ; )
Your usual great work. What is the new varnish you are using?
Hey forget that matey, no apology needed ; ) I was in the Queens and Kev was in the RAF ; )
What varnish did you use on those Brian, was it the Humbrol stuff in the background? I find with the GW Purity Seal I lose a lot of the colour blending on the highlights and shading :-(
Hi there, I don t understand why they have parts of other legions ?
the eye of terror has its eye on you my son
What books other than the 40k 6th ed and Horus Heresy book 1 would be needed by a new player wanting to start doing a pre-Hersey force please anyone ?
in deliverance lost they get it after the massacre.
dude what colours and paint range did you use on the jet packs
Thanks matey ; )
Your models are awesome and I hate to be a douche but the Raven guard didnt get the mk vi armour till post dropsite massacre ... Beautiful minis though !!!

I thought lightning claws were power weapons??
Cheers chap ; )
Come to that, as they're the first to receive the new Mk6 armour, technically nobody should be using it at the time of the DSM ...
Humbrol acrylic varnish ; )
