I'm suprised no one else has mentioned this before, but I would have really liked more scenes with Mark and his son, you almost forget he has a son as he's rarely seen. I know Sophie had him most of the time, I just think it would have been great to see Marks parenting skills or lack thereof. You see how much he cares for Ian on the New years eve episode when he saves him from the floor, but apart from that, you just have no idea how he really feels about being a dad, most energy is put into Dobby, or him finding the one. Just felt like a missed opportunity for some really funny scenes with some of Ian's point of view shots.
Frankly, anything would have been better than the entire Dobby arc. I know the point is Mark never finds the one but he and Dobby are just implausible as a couple. Compare with the Sophie arc which is excellent.
Stat Lets Flats series 3 had a similar baby situation to Peep Show [the lead has a baby with his ex] but they did actually do a few episodes about him trying to be a good dad-even having his new girlfriend try to bond with the child even though she hates his ex which was new material for the show. Only Fools and horses with Damian also tried to integrate him a little [such as the running 'Omen' gag]. Instead, Peep show just tried to ignore it as much as possible which was a shame.
@@timothylovecock4332 The 'Dobby stalling on moving in' arc [despite saying yes to it in series 7] and 'Jez loves Dobby' were weak story lines that just dragged on. The sequencing of the deleted scene is pretty easy. The episode got restructured in post and some scenes were swapped around. All the cat scenes are after all that? The inclusion of the dog in the park scene, which isn't seen or mentioned otherwise, is bizarre. If it's Gerard's, someone would've needed to pick it up after his death.
While I don't know if this was a regular thing on Peep Show, on other shows [such as Phoenix Nights and I'm Alan Partridge], they were often re-writing episodes while they were filming so sometimes scenes are filmed but then have to be cut as they don't fit anymore [For example, Phoenix Night's Series 1, Episode 5's original final scene was never filmed so the link scenes had to be cut]. Maybe this happened to the park scene? They mentioned on the Series 4 commentaries that the voice over are frequently re-written as they can easily be rerecorded before broadcast, which explains the reuse of the lines from the deleted scenes.
I was thinking along those lines as well. A deleted scene doesn't necessarily have to fit neatly into the scenes that made the final cut because some of those scenes could be rewrites.
