The Office worked because they had the sense to get Ricky Gervis in as a producer to make the Americans realise what worked about the original. Looks like the US peep show producers didn’t give a crap

Peep show I think is one of the only shows that doesn't deteriorate in the later seasons.

I think the issue with a lot of shows that have an attempted american remake or vice versa is that the entire premise basically involves skewing towards the most tropey middle of the road thing from that country you can. Most really beloved media in any country has a strong following because it stands out among it's contemporaries.

I always thought this was one of the most outlandish episodes but i always liked it for it. For what Lucy says in the episode she seems like an absolute sociopath so she being more confused or weirded out than horrified makes sense to me, specially since Aurora was the one who showed being closest to mummy. Also their dad being more concerned with comforting Aurora intead of beating the shit out of Mark and Jez makes sense to me since Aurora seemed a bit emotionally off so helping her not have an emotional breakdown over seeing a guy eating her dog would likely be a priority for him. The little detail of Jez licking his fingers after eating chunks of mummy always kills me, is like he started enjoying the taste or something.

You know what could actually work really well? An Aussie/Kiwi version of Peep Show.

Brilliant analysis and commentary. I love it.

I did have some issues with this season overall, but yeah this has made me realise how little I cared for this episode in particular. I have to admit the only scene I really enjoyed was the scene in the car which gave me the only major laugh of the episode. The rest of it was mediocre, and that's despite having some major scenes such as Jeremy 'coming out' and the wedding of Hans. It should have been a more memorable episode.

I would’ve liked the story of Jeremy stealing Gregory from Dobby it would’ve been hilarious 😂. Also I agree with you we should’ve seen after Mark’s assault. Would’ve been hilarious.

I have to say you nailed this. I love Office and Extras. But this was offensive in it's blandness and under development.

You learn so much about the characters in this show simply from pointed insults in arguments. So well written

Karl makes a really random cameo appearance in David Mitchell's show Ludwick recently! I did wonder if it was intended for someone from Mitchell's past [like Robert Webb] at one stage.

Thanks for the review, I'm a big fan of KP but it seems that Sick of It was a slightly misguided attempt at making a comedy drama, I don't think I'll watch it. Also, why is aunty Nor(m)a American?!

A nice little summary of this painful vanity project. Some of the other things I can't stand about Afterlife: Formulaic episodes with obvious foreshadowing All the 2D, undeveloped supporting characters The shows obsession with obese people and homosexuals (and that these things are hilarious) I could go on, it is just a complete disaster of a show. I think it only really appeals to a certain demographic of politically right-wing people who subscribe to the 'anti-woke' 'you can't say anything any more' philosophy.

My favourite peripheral character is Big Mad Andy, i think that character had more mileage

If they made the premise of it as SoundCloud Rappers, I think the US would have made sense then. Like just have a bunch of 30+ year olds still stuck in the Xandemic and Clout Goggle Era.

I saw Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong at the Leeds Festival. I’d seen some hype about them, and was very underwhelmed by their set. Forgettable indie fodder. I remember ‘Jamie’ commenting on some disagreement with the record company which delayed them getting their album out.

My favourite Extras storyline was always the antagonism between Andy Millman and Greg Lindley-Jones. Andy hit success first with his sitcom, but Greg overtook him with 'real' acting and became a respected thhhhhhhhespian while Andy was left frustrated.

Barry stole the show for me. Him and merchant together on the pull ect. Such A great double act.

I watched this film 3 times and I like it 😂
