Driver. Tanner is an infiltrated agent who try to catch some bad guy. All the game is about driving and escaping police (or other guys). I got a funny bug, civilian trying to catch me in one point of the game. I've finished the last mission in one try by pure luck... I've not so much skill and this last mission is a real pain !
Hope you guys enjoy it ! -

I was stuck in that garage scene my entire childhood.
I'm sure everyone was stuck there. That mission was OP af. My and my mom just played the free roam all of the time until Driver 2 came out.
NBS I was eight I didn't understand nothing till I turned 13 lmao
Me too, along with all my friends. I don't think they intended for it to be that hard
😂😂😂 Me to. It's was struggle
XD
After 21 years, I’ve finally completed the tutorial
Lmao me too 😂😂😂😂😂
هههه 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hahaha
Hey give me 2 1/4 pounds of chess nuts 😂😂 OMG this game is memories 😊
I believe it. That wasn’t easy for me.
I used to play this game obsessively through '99 and '00. I was so crazy about the game I volunteered to beat the tutorial level for anyone that couldn't beat it. I'd just take their memory card for the night and bring it back the next day. I just wanted people to enjoy the game I loved so much.
I'd easily put Driver in my personal top five for games that were the most monumental/memorable in my personal gaming history.
Matty vP That’s my life story lol! Except I was the one who copied my friend’s memorial card because he beat the tutorial and I couldn’t lol. I tried for like months. Watching the video damn near made me cry haha. The memories!
Playing this game in free-roam as a 13 year old with my friends, trying to drive by the road rules to see who was the best driver was so much fun back then
A true hero of the century!
Same here and if only we could go back in time. But then again the experience probably wouldn't be the same due to what were used to now graphics wise! I remember these games seeming so real. Lol
@@NTiVE-tq7tj this game looks much better than in this video on a crt 14-21' screen. There's also a windows version which is even more better. And finally, an emulator with filters and shaders will make this game look like a ps2 or a ps3 game
Summer of 1999... I was 12. My brother told me about this game. My mom took me to our local Kmart and I bought this new for $39.99 with my birthday money. I came home, showed my brother and he was pumped. He did the parking garage trial for me but I spent hours, upon hours, upon hours just cruising around and exploring the cities.
Seeing the polygonal gameplay and hearing those tires screech really enables me to embrace the nostalgia of sitting in that basement recliner, sun beating on the sliding glass door, wired ps1 wishbone controller in my hands and pushing that car to its open world limits on that 32" projection TV.
I sometimes even played this with the madcatz steering wheel (with the pedals) that suction-cupped to our flimsy wooden plant table, though the suction always gave way after a couple hard turns lol. I remember how solid that ps1 steering wheel felt. I can even remember the feeling of those thin springy car pedals at my barefeet... Amazing times. 90s were incredible.
I feel bad for everyone who couldn’t pass the first training mission lol. Such a great game
@Duncan MacLeod
Yeah, it was pretty easy.
@Duncan MacLeod shame that DRIVER 1 a forgotten masterpiece game. Right?
@@realityanalyst but not for 99 percent of the people.
@@purwantiallan5089 I don't know what to tell you. The game wasn't designed to be that difficult. The garage level was just a little driving training with a list of moves.
I remember driving in the garage trying all shots of moves and watching the list items being crossed out.
It was a no-brainer after that.
i was 6 back then, i did not even no what a 360 and a slalom was, my dad did it for me
The music, climate, chasing and getaways... Simply beautiful. They don't makes games like Driver anymore.
Is how Grand theft Auto 3 but Ps1
@duncanmacleod7287You're overeacting, buddy.
You can like both but come on.
GTA is amazinh when it's about side missions and plenty of good rewards for your efforts.
They removed that starting from GTA 4.
Life is intentional. Focus on the moment.
''WOW! Those amazing graphics!''
-Me, 2000.
You must be very high on purple haze lol. Can I buy some weed from you lol
Me too
@Moogle Midgar How do you know HE played it then?
me too
It was the first real 3d open world game on playstation. For that it looked really amazing.
I’m so glad that we are alive during time where we can watch all of our favourite childhood memories in the palm of our hands
Back also when the only limiting factor in PS1 games is the small amount of PS1 MEMORY CARD SIZE.
I`m soo glad I wasn`t the only one stuck on the very first garage mission.
DARK EMPEROR Lmao same here. I can move on with my life now lol.
هههه 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I had no idea what a slalom was as an 8 year old, had to ask another lad at school who had to draw a sodding picture on how to do it haha.
@@therebel4332Ren Hazuki also ever stuck on that dreaded tutorial level in DRIVER I. Needing only 25 days before finally beating that tho.
When I was a kid I thought this game is only free roam and the garage section is just that one thing, I ignored it for years. When out of boredom I actually passed and realised there is story and missions my mind was BLOWN away
For the 90's, this game was AMAZING.
That tutorial was brutal. Took us a few cracks to finally do it. The night we finally did we played the game all night afterwards lol
Imagina agente de outro país q nem sabia oq era para fazer, já q n sabíamos a linguagem
I remember when we all used to think these graphics were groundbreaking, now I feel old as fuck just remembering these days
Man I remember playing this late at night with volume on low trying not to wake mom up as it was during the school week 😄
Bro. The Engine sounds were on full blast even on MINS LOL
@Justin Davis 😆😆for me it was when the cops' sirens went on. One night she busted me cause of them!
@@RadebeKids f-ing cops lol
Hahahahahhahahaa... me too
Before GTA this is what everybody was playing!!!
@HAVE RESPECT FOR COWS!! Pretty sure gta 1 & 2 were way different compared to the rest
@HAVE RESPECT FOR COWS!! he obviously meant before gta 3
@@aftermath4096 GTA 1 & 2 were still fun as hell back in the day, but yeah, 3 is where the series really took off.
Absolutely, this game was our GTA, hahahahaha, I don't think I ever got bored playing it..., the only thing that would end the play session is probably my mom unplugging the power cable.
@HAVE RESPECT FOR COWS!! yeah birds eye view GTA lol.
Ahh, 70s jive talk, speeding around corners and hubcaps flying off, the police chases. This is just my childhood all over again, I miss these days 😥
Oh God this game. One of the hardest final levels of any game i've ever played.
No truer words have been spoken.
+onebadmutha44 Driver 2's final level was also difficult....doable, but difficult. Find The Clue, and Chase the Gun Man were difficult as fuck.
@Marco Willemse Difficult but not impossible. There's a trick to beating it somewhat easily but I don't remember what it is off the top of my head.
stephen conley Yep With the President (George Bush )saying; “where we goin to SON 🤣
You finish it by luck only
Wow, memories. No one is going to mention the editor though?
That was the best part!
You could place cameras all over and make your own chase scene, just like a tv show or movie. I spent hours on those, it was a blast.
It was amazing. That's all I played.
Yeah considering when it came out that editor was fucking incredible. I'd completely forgot about that.
I salute all the 90's kids who got to witness this game (& many others) at the time, and all the people who got stuck on the first level for years...& I know cause I was of them 😂....we're probably the same kids who locked the butler in the freezer on tomb raider 😂😂😂
Old Gregg wow thats me for sure 😂👍🏻
Hahaha Same🤣🤣
I thought I was being creative locking that man away and listening to the rattling tray while laughing.
@@gk15 i did both thank you sir. But i passed the garage mission. Not on my first try mind you lol
Wow, it’s amazing how we all did the same thing as kids. I definitely locked the butler in the freezer in Tomb Raider II, and I struggled to finish the driving test in Driver. I finally passed it though after memorizing the different keys and which one was the handbrake, etc.
"Hey man! You wrecked the car mannn!"
Couldn't for the life of me pass the first mission.
This and Driver 2 deserve a remaster HD version
Febrianda Rifqi
Yes for xbox one
Yes For PS4, Switch, PC and Mobile
Febrianda Rifqi don't forget driver 3
No.
And 3 needs to get thanos snapped
This game had some serious style.
And swag
Yooooow!
The crush sound is so nostalgic.
I'm really impressed by me as a child for finishing the garage level without understanding a single English word. lol
These physics seem like they were way ahead of their time. Great game.
Shane Plante no your very wrong! I do give it to you that this game was great and everything but actually say that it has great graphic for shame lol.
@@Darkshadow333 he said physics, not graphics.
Ha! Ok you may be right if the physics seems all box like and wheels looks like they about to come off on every turn lol.
+Darkshadow333
Thats not the point...
@@Darkshadow333 you don't even know what physics are do you?
Ah the summer of 99 as a 14 year old playing this. Such great times now I'm just 4 years from being 40. Where does time go?
Was one of my first games during childhood. Nostalgic
now you're two years from 40 and i'm 2 years beyond 40 lol. yea time sux
I was 12. I feel my life has nosedived since then.
I was 11 when this game came out. Now I'm 35. I had to join in.
@@gavrfc09 yea it does lol. at least we enjoyed our youth
I thought it was so spectacular that they implemented a weather system with day/night cycle... AND REFLECTIONS!
man, the feeling i got when i finally got out of the garage is truly unmatched
Loved this game, i use to dig just driving around and exploring as i could never complete the tutorial haha.
@Chloe Lane
ME. TOO.
+ Chloe Lane
Two Words: Game Shark.
Glad my friends and I weren't the only ones.It took us years to get past the tutorial, 'cuz none of us knew what a "slalom" was, so we would just play Driver 2 and 3. That's right, I already had DRIV3R, yet couldn't get past the tutorial in Driver 1.
It was really hard wasn't it lol.
Haha same here. I had to copy my friend’s memory card with a completed tutorial because I couldn’t do it lol.
There was just something about the game engine physics of the original that the follow ups couldn't match. The replay edit function was amazing and the staying alive chase mini game had totally insane cops. Also loved that sound when you smashed into things. A real ground-breaker for the concept of free-roaming games. One of my all time fave psx games.
trueee
the sound effect of you crashing the car was taken from "The Driver" (1976)
What I liked about this game?Everything!!!The driving physic, the sound of the cars, car chases, free roam(Take a ride). This game is my fuckin childhood!
well you don't have to,in the main menu instead of picking "undercover" press left/right and you can go freeride and there's a tutorial that can help you to complete... tutorial
That last mission took me for ever to beat! This was my first PS1 game I ever beat…those were the days. Thanks for sharing brought back a lot of memories 🤘🏼
Ah the first driving game where we all got stumped at level 1. Ah good time.
😅😅😅😅😅😅 NBS bro good times
Hill Sniper I played that mission when I was 5 years old and it took me at least 2 years more to beat that level
maybe one of my problems was that I didn't speak english at that time, really hard to understood what they were asking me to do LOL
i remember being the only person out of our group of friends who could get past the first level on this, talk about trial by fire
+ Hill Sniper
Geez, it was so simple...if you had a Game Shark.
Hill Sniper i beat that level last night, omly took me 20 minutes
They need to remaster this game, brings back so many memories
I get to the comment section and it's fucking hilarious how everyone here couldn't get past the tutorial as I never could either 😂😂 so glad I have something so nostalgic to share that's common with you all, this among MANY other ps1/ps2 games was the epitome of my childhood. If you took the time to read this thank you 😊😊
The foot step noise.
And the car door slamming.
This is the best part 😂
I was one of these kids who didn't understand the game.
I couldn't beat the garage level.
Just enjoying to drive in free roam.
😂😂😂
Ha same!
Back when having fun is more important than graphics!
THIS!
Truer words couldn't have been spoken! Salute!
@deadlyvexx99 TV Yeah, and also released two years later in a much much more powerful console so… that’s to be expected, isn’t it?
Stupid take, these were top notch graphics. What you're referring to is nostalgia, and nostalgia doesn't mean it was better, you just enjoyed it more as a kid.
@@thefunkdroid277725 years after release, DRIVER 1 still a masterpiece. But its a very punishing game especially the tutorial level that may require BILLIONS of attempts to finally beaten it.
I could never get passed the tutorial my only option was Take a ride lmao
Me too :D there are thousands of us i guess :D
I passed it as a child after 100 tries... and I managed to finish the game as an 10 year old
Me 2 and my cousins we stuck in that bloody garage for years. Literally yeara. we even got to the point where it was assumed that was the game maybe. just in a garage. There was no internet back then or youtube videos to give you tips. the best you could hope for was some kid in your class year or school or even in another school had done what you needed to do and you could ask their advise. I also remember memory cards being sold for good money back then if theyd unlocked levels ppl were stuck on.
Kids these days will never know the struggles we faced. This game and the star wars game were solid.
We finally got out the garage and it was one of our best moments ever. The game turned out to be epic. But yes lots of ppl in my school even couldnt get out of that bloody garage. I lived in Saudi Arabia so it must have been a worldwide problem with kids from all over.
"His memory just got better." Still my favorite line out of the whole game.
OMG i just listened to the line while i was reading
I absolutely love Driver. It’s one of my favourite games of all time.
Oh man...i remember being stuck on this first mission...i had no internet
at that time :D
+Ja As I think almost nobody had...
You mean the tutorial? Understandable.
Jose Gonzalez yup....slalom? What?
Had Internet in 96.....Happy Puppy was my friend.
You mean the garage one? That's very sad. So were me and my friends. LOL I feel better now. RUclips hadn't been invented yet, and that was the first time I had ever heard the word slalom, so I didn't know what to do. And neither me nor my friends could do the Reverse 180. It literally took me years, and I eventually did them on accident. Sad moment, when you can't even make it past the tutorial. BTW, that was based off a scene in the movie DRIVER with Ryan O'Neil.
Got stuck in the turtorial, because I didn't spoke english at that time and didn't know what any of those things meant.
-"Dad, what does 360 means?"
-"What you mean?"
-"like for cars"
-"You mean like it's max driving speed?"
-"yeah, that's gotta be it"
Thanks Driver.

Hey yes I hate this that part is scary and must be win.
I used a glitch to beat it easy
I couldn’t ever beat it!
Any one else born in 90 and looking up our childhood on youtube lol first i watched darkman nes the knight rider nes n now driver lol so many of these classics bring back the best memories! Gosh if i could relive these moments playing these and renting them from blockbuster with my older bro..
Ahh the memories.... i remember the 1st mission (Bank Robbery)....my heart started to pound as soon as the Bank's security alarm went off after the guys came out of the building and jumped inside the car! It just felt so real ! Thnx fr the memories =)
The infamous garage test gated the series from becoming a huge mainstream hit
what a bloody classic game this is
Summer of 1999 all I played was this game. I was 18/19 and was working a full time summer job. Would just get in late at from hanging with friends or playing sports and grab my boombox and snacks and hang out in my parent's basement drinking iced tea, eating snacks and playing this game to like 4 in the morning, pass out on the rug..wake up at 8 am, crawl into clothes and go to work again. Was awesome. Summer of 98 was all Gran Turismo 1 and the first GTA game. Best times
"maybe I'll give you a call, when I need a ride to the grocery store" .
Well now. Haven't we come a long way since this masterpeice? I was totally adddicted to this classic. 😊
Damn dude! For some reason the very first part was the hardest thing ever!
I know right lol
yeah i just couldn't do the tricks in the garage so i just didnt do that part
joel baker Wait, you can skip that?
no i just did the free drive part of the game
FFG! Jjajaja me too !! Funcking mission
I like how he waits and makes sure all his friends get in the house safely c: what a nice guy
When you crash in this game it sounds like a whole pile of dishes being dropped
Such an amazing game, very impressive for the PS1 era! A remake of the two PSX games would be really awesome!
Come to think of it, it’s funny that the hardest mission, i.e., the Parking, was actually intended to be the tutorial for the game! I was so ashamed to fail on the first mission so many times... Until everyone told me how often they failed too 😂😂
Спасибо автору за ностальгию! Вернул меня в начало 2000-ых.
God even watching this intro just unlocked so many childhood memories. Thank you.
I loved the engine's sound!
+Raul F. L. Same,and its awesome
I had almost Zero memory of this game, just 1 frame in my mind of that game, played it as a kid and it took me 13 years to find it again.
sooooo many hours playing this! i miss it!
Favourite detail in the game is the saturation on the tire screech sound (the way it sounds "bad"), as there tended to be in 70s action movies because of technical limitations.
It just magnifies the feeling of authenticity. I was a young kid at the time of the game's release, but I had already absorbed a small amount of 70s pop culture and I could already tell the devs had gone the extra mile.
the amount of work that went into those physics back then, probably felt like hard work
the drive to the lockup mission destroyed my psyche as a child
Ticco's Ride: "His memory just got better!" Love that line.
The nostalgia watching this. The sounds come right back after 25 years! Incredible. As if these graphics were the height of it all back then 😂
I remember that I was a child and didn't understand what to do at the beginning of the game in that garage. The solution was to ask my dad, who told me that what was detailed on the list were different maneuvers and he told me how to do them
I never played the tutorial because my uncle had been completed it. Crazy how time flys, I’m now 31 years old I was 6 years old then and still remember playing this all the way up until about 9 years old which would be 2002. Being a child in the late 90s early 2000s was great. The nostalgia hits different
Ah. .Driver. So many memories
this was the OG GTA... cheers for the walkthrough... down memory lane!)))
i love this game so much but man i dont know what the developer were they thinking when they designed the first mission
Its not even that hard its basic driving controls
فيصل الصومالي first mission was not so hard it took me about 5 or 6 goes to no what do
@@tobysmith8697 It's not hard if you know what you're doing. I eventually managed everything as a 12 year old except "Slalom." I had no idea what to do and kept trying to gun it through the columns instead of taking it slow like you're supposed to do.
Austin Lucas I was 13 too when I first played it got mine 2 day after launch I don’t No why it so hard for some people though if they carried on messing around trying to figure it out they would have done it in end
Back before the days of Google and RUclips, I think plenty of kids didn't quite know what a slalom was lol. BUT to be fair, the game DID have a video showing how to do all of it.
I remember being blown away by the graphics when this came out.
I wanted to play it so badly that when the demo came out I had sprained my ankle playing football in school and limped in agony to the shop just to buy the magazine it came with.
Driver was the game that started the modern day gta games.
even after all these years, i've still memorized the invincibility cheat to this day.
driver was a wicked game.
This was my first PS1 game, I was five years old and could not speak/read english at the time. That tutorial level would be my nightmare. Good ol' times, when games had a challenge for the kids.
Wow… such nostalgia! I’ve never forgotten that intro scene! This and resident evil was the first games I ever played. Resident evil was the game that turned me away from zombie games, up until a year and a half ago, and this was what got me into playing games like gta
I played this game growing up, I remember I wanted to see what happened if I obeyed the law so I tried mimicking the other cars on the road...Whenever I made even the slightest most subtle mistake the cop cars would start chasing and slamming into my vehicle XD
My lord how time has changed I remember everything
Oh man... this game!! The memories! Nostalgic to my core.
14 years old I thought the hubcap flying 🪽 off your car was the most amazing feature.
Also loved the answering machine the guy calling in for some chicken was hilarious 😆
Survival mode was hilarious
It liked to start you in the worst spot. Survival in San Francisco and you start in the middle of a huge grass park/field with the cops already barreling towards you and you desperately trying to gain traction to get going.
It could be fun to watch how suicidal the cops would be if you turned on invincibility, though.
I forgot all about it

"The Driver" with Ryan O'Neal?
It's not based on any movie.
@@eccIefechan It's loosely based on "The Driver" from 1978, but only in the "1970s Getaway Driver" sense, and in that it uses sound effects from the movie.
After 20 years of playing driving, this game is and will be the best driving game ever. I spent at least ten minutes perfecting the first stage and over an hour trying to beat the last stage. Good times.
I remember this game my whole life when I saw the main character Tanner I thought he's just a getaway driver, never knew he's a former race driver and current NYPD police officer it goes to show you that undercover assignments are the most dangerous

Back in the day it was difficult, even for me, but now, it's like child's play. Try some of the missions in Driver 2 and tell me the tutorial is difficult. Try having to drive on a hilly road in Rio in "Chase The Gun Man" or destroy 4 cars in 7 minutes in "Find The Clue" or escorting the President in the final mission of this game with everyone literally on your ass.
+Jose Gonzalez I figured out the first 2 things you need to do though.
+BOSS 482 jhwhghh
It was mainly cuz I couldn't do the Reverse 180, and didn't know what a Slalom was. Then after a few years, I ended up doing them by accident. I don't think the creators intended for it to be that hard.
