So almost 20 years later I discover that my cousin wasn't full of shit when he swore he had sat down in Driver 2...
So, did you apologize to your cousin? lmao
Yeah me, just press Triangle
I remember my self 20 years ago, dreaming of a driving game where you could get out and walk, and when i found out about the new Driver 2 and its new feature i was hyped. The first time i got out of the car was unbelievable!
and then gta 3 came a year later xD

Rockstar Games after SA: AND YOU GET NOTHING! YOU LOSE! GOOD DAY SIR!
I spent so many hours and hours playing this game when I was Younger. Good times. As I'm from Rio I used to play a lot "Free Ride" mode on Rio just driving on the streets and imagining stories , as simulation of a real life with car, house.
Me too hhahahaha
Bons tempos !
😂😂😂 we all did bro, we all did...
Só soube hoje que tinha rio nesse jogo kkkk
So do you now have a car and a house?
They really went through all that trouble, to put a mini cooper on a pedestal.
well, that's in cuba, they still have 1960's cars there
It was for Fidel

What do you think about Brazil?
Man I'll never forget this game. Two of my friends finished it before me and gave me advice whenever I got stuck, one of them passed away later. I played in free roam for so long, imagined I had a bus line in Havana or Rio
A bus line, woaa! Brilliant idea.
What happened to your friend? 😢
Died because of the game's difficulty@@georgestam1710
I would free roam so much with a bus in Havana. Vegas felt so real and strange because I live in Vegas lol
@@georgestam1710 he had an appendectomy that went wrong and unfortunately passed away due to peritonitis
This game really pushed the PS1
Yes it did bro it was extreme for it's time
Imagine being with only 1 disk...POWERFULL !!! ( thx a lot cutscenes MB leght...)
lol gta wasn't that popular back then, don't know why they stopped making driver games tho, it would be much more better especially with the law rules, stopping at the red light and not speeding up when there are cops near by...this game was more realistic than gta today lol
@@higgs135 Mafia was also better than GTA. The luck of GTA is was just not having rules, it has always been a sandbox game. I've always preferred the Driver and Mafia series.
No pase horas en este juego
the good old days.. when I was a kid I use to pretend the house with the bell was my house
Damn I used to do stuff like that too, pretend to go to work and park up all neatly when I "got home from work" :D
Trill Art me too!!! And those garages around the city used to use them and going all like: "I will park my car here and find a good restaurant to eat" then I would imagine my character eating nearby :P
Gandalf The White lol
Why you stealing my house for bruh.
@@oooooooooooo2332 And the added ability to sit on chairs made it much more perfect to imagine it better.
I remember accidentally finding the car at the baseball field out of curiosity the fuckin hype seeing that car was through the roof i miss those days man.
Bruv I shut my playstation when I opened the baseball stadium for the first time. I was so scared because I never knew what was going on lol. Then I waited for my brother to come back to show him what I found and we explored it together and found out there was a secret car in there lol.
Wait, how did you guys know you had to press triangle at the door behind stadium? I mean its not even a button and it doesnt say anywhere to press triangle. I always have trouble finding a secret when its not even telling you that secret exists or not hint that you need to press a button
@@rotgutthebloated4730 i also found it accidentally. I was roaming to all areas marked on map studying. First i noticed that behind gates there was actually active area. Drove few times around studium and noticed the door with "ticket" written. Logic told me to press action button near it.
Car in Vegas also found by own. The "stick" with button to open secret area i noticed at the beginning of one of the missions, so just came back there in free roam.
I remember just speeding as fast as I could just to ramp off the bridge.
I used to do the same thing. it was really fun to do that.
i play this game alot but on havana survival it's still a good game even though it's showing it's age of 19 years old same with driver 1 which was released in 1999
I remember that in the EU PS1 version, if you did it at full speed you would automatically glitch and drown into the water. No matter how fast you did it. However if you slowed down a little bit just enough to make the jump you wouldn't drown. It sucked because I wanted to do it at full speed but could never do if because of the stupid glitch
I can imagine how you feel in Driv3r in Miami and Istanbul
Every damn time, and if you made a perfect run, you were too early to jump 😂
I always hated flipping the car in the secret havana base lol.
My Sister and I used to grab cars off the street and park them in the stadium in Chicago, see how many we could get! I think you could get loads before they stopped spawning outside, like 20-30 odd cars.
I remember coming home from school and getting a bus in Rio and I made my own bus route I'd follow around the city ahaha. Loved this game, good times!
Vc que é do Rio, tira uma dúvida: as ruas deste jogo realmente são assim na vida real? Ou chegam próximas?
What a throwback. Fun fact, at 3:50 , if you just go to this spot above ground, and walk backwards into the hole, your character will appear right next to the mini cooper. No need to go through the underground maze! Also, as a kid, there were a collection of fake cheats online, I distinctly remember one being "If you run around the lake at 7:05 three times, your character will get a gun. My dumbass kid self wasted a ton of time doing that hahaha.... The insane lag spikes are so nostalgic too. Great video.
The fake cheats were some of my fondest memories. I believed in so many of them. There was an apocalypse cheat I kept trying to activate. It would trigger armageddon and fireballs would rain from the sky and destroy the city. In hindsight, as chuggy as this game was that probably would have crashed the game lol
GAMEPRO or EGM bullshitted me so badly back then; they ran an article insinuating that Pink Lenny could be found in freeroam in Chicago at night ; I read that and wasted alot of time searching eventually realizing like Santa Claus it was just them taking the piss well intended ruckus game magazine leading people all over ; I suppose there were times when it went the other way; If EGM hadn't absolutely lied about ERMAC being a playable character in MK1 he wouldn't of been created for UMK
Driver 2 was GTA before GTA became a thing. People keep forgetting that this came out WAAY back before GTA III introduced 3D open world environments
agreed
GTA 2 was the best people had til 3 came out. This game was ahead of its time, shame the series ended. Quite fond of it.
And Hogs of War was Worms 3D before Worms 3D was even a thing.
The PS1 was a great console with a ton of innovative games!
Believe it or not there was only a year between the release of driver 2 and gta iii. Driver 2 was initially released after the PS2 was out.
@@JROSESN additionally, driver was rushed so it could come out before GTA. Both are great games but obviously one has more depth than the other.
What most people don't know about this game is that it has a hard steering button which makes your wheels steer more.

L1 , since the first!!
4:40 I never knew about these garages! thanks for uploading this vid, very interesting :)
Thanks :)
I never realized I could sit down in this game
My son showed me that.
He had to be all of 8 yrs old at the time.
But the best feeling was that, when you as a 8yo kiddo found some secret... priceless
Yes , i found secret car in Havana when i have 7 years ♥️
i used to play this with about 5 years old, i remember that i needed almost a week to discover Chicago stadium and another week to discover how to enter in it and pick the car.
so true, the worst now is that I studied IT programming and it removed lots of the magic lol. I ve stopped this job (not for this reason tho loool), but It's more difficult to find again these emotions I had when kid. I m still playing old games, I just cant forget these times

I can't express how star-struck my kid self was more than 20 years ago when I discovered that _you could exit the car and enter other cars_ in this game.
The feeling was of a total freedom, it seemed impossible at the time.
It has since become a staple of the action/driving videogame genre.
The gaming industry surely did came a long way...
necesitamos urgentemente un remake de este grandioso y hermoso juego
This game was released almost exactly 22 years ago....times goes by soooo damn fast. I couldn't even by alcohol then.....now I'm over 40 and my kids are almost grown. Crazy!
Dam… im 20 now but played this alot at 8. I was always that kid with “old technology” and while everyone had ps3 and xbox 360 i was stuck with the “ps2” with no memory cards🥲 now i have a “PS5 GTAV” and alot more but this game give me nostalgia of those simpler fun times i would play on my cracked tv.
SIDENOTE:
DON'T SPAM TRIANGLE ON GARAGE DOORS.
IT WILL PLAY THE NOISE ON AND ON AGAIN IN GAMEPLAY.
To stop it, you have to restart.
lmao I remember that..
Omg the scariest thing ever haha. I remember this
I never knew about that bell right there. Nice vid.
Junior X The Inkling I kinda knew that 1 but never knew it would ring up cause I taught something different would happen in front of Caine s place
I remember when I got this game my parents where yelling at me every night to go to sleep. I would mute the volume and play until I had to go to school lol.
Prob the 1st open world game when you could sit in chairs and that makes Driver 2 great of all time
Huh, never knew about any of these. I remember playing this with my buddy, looking for stuff to do. We found a ramp and just jumped whatever we could off it, then later freaked out when we came across firetrucks driving around, so we had to steal one and drive it all the way across town to try and jump it.
the chair is a secret way to teleport into building.
True but you will drown
GTA fans: "We want to go in more buildings!"
*Driver 2's got you covered.*
Classic game. Hard to believe its a twenty year old game now. Great video i didn't know about any of these cheats and will be finding them. Thanks for sharing.
I used to spend a lot of time playing this game
6:00 - I never knew that house had a door bell!
Fico pensando: como descobriram isso.
Saíram apertando triangulo em todas as portas do jogo? kkkk
Amazing job! I miss this epic game.
This is one of the few games i played as a kid and thought “wow this is garbage”.
Seeing it now only reaffirms my opinion 100 fold
This was one of my favorite games growing up, even thow it might look unfinished and had a frame rate of... 10?..
I found all the secret cars and pretty much all the garages as kid but never knew about those racing secret games! The ability to get out of the car after Driver 1 and on a freaking PS1 was just awesome! I also got so excited when I found out you could sit! Used to do that sitting glitch to get you in buildings. I always hoped there was a gun somewhere and you could use it but never found one lol.
In Driv3r, in Miami, there is a....
Oh, wait
I don't want to blow the surprise
What were those garages for???
Las Vegas will always be my favorite city to drive around in driver 2 free mode
I wonder what the devs thought when creating these secrets and easter eggs. I mean, the game had SO much potential to fulfill it with these kind of details.
I feel a lot of times like they missed the chance to push the gameplay on the free mode. They could have hidden lot of secret cars, zones, places to discover... In the end, we got so amazing stuff from GTA series but this gameplay is so nostalgic and is so bad it offers so few things to do...
ruclips.net/video/TMKrbbbyNhw/видео.html
GTA expanded and Minimized its Easter egg content; Original team Howzer Benzies Folwer were more fun and free spirited with the games; I enjoy GTA V and Online but that game bugged me from the first second of story mode; Franklin jumps off an exercise bar at Venice when you begin to control him I turn towards the exercise bar like oh cool let's do that ; No Option for using equipment okay.. Michael sitting on Bench gets up ; Start controlling him turn toward bench to sit; Nothing hmm okay Ya there's a great deal of content but a bit of a No Fun Allowed narrative running through GTA current era; I suspect all IP past current times all old games original studios are gone; from crash to spyro to twisted metal. Driver and GTA are dead too big coonglomo corpo companies where developers are compartmentalized and disconnected from the writing process the goals and ambitions of game makers used to be shared in a single room of people a 40 person team made games like MK Zelda Tomb Raider; rockstar pays people who don't play videogames to make the game the fun factor isn't priority it's just doing what they are told
Man I used to rent this game all the time from Hollywood Videos or Blockbuster as a kid.
J C dude me too!!!!!! Hollywood video was the shit. Then blockbuster came and killed them.

Me and my cousin were so hype for driver 2 because you could actually get out of the car and run around. Then we discovered that we were able to sit down on chair and benches and stuff. And at that time during this ear of video games THAT WAS GOLD TO US!!!
your terrible driving made the video unintentionally hilarious
Oh my chillhood, what a amazing game. We need a Driver 2 remaster on PS4!
In Havana there is a secret garage too. Is the same place where you keep the trucks in the Undercover mission.
They probably tweaked all engine sounds out of 1 tone.
You purchased driver license? Hahaha Nice vídeo!
Just the fact you could sit down in the game was goated.
I wonder how I found out about the garages in Rio and Vegas and the chair as a kid, with no internet at my disposal!
KedKexKevin right?! A few years after this game came out, I got game shark to help me beat the game. It was too hard for an 8 year old me lol.
@@Studio-IV Hahaha nice! I got really far when I was 6/7 years old. I couldn't get past the mission in the mountains of Rio. The one where Jones was shot. But when Driv3r came out, I found out about secret cars in that game by myself. However, some years ago I realized they were in Driver 2 as well! Never knew that as a kid. Same goes for saving, I always thought that you needed to load undercover to play in Rio and Vegas, but it turned out you could save and load settings! Thank you internet haha!

I only knew half of these!!! Crazy. Last I remember I was searching for cheats using dial-up internet. Lots of fake codes out there.

This game was fire!! Good old days
as i remember that mini was easier to acquire by driving over hole and jumping of the car (regular one), i dont remember this tunnels
For the secret car in Havana, rather than entering the maze, u can also just jump down right away (with your car) to the hole where that car is stored. It is right behind the enterance ( 3:46 ). The secret car most likely will be damaged, but it is still gonna be unlocked anyway...
you can walk backwards on foot and you'll fall in and dont need to damage the car
The true nostalgia. Damn I still remember the song.
I liked that game so much that I found those cars on my own without internet or magazines. It was kinda messy even then, hated fact that pedestrians couldn't be ran over, slowdowns, missing polygons etc.
This game was my favorite back in the old days and i never knew that tanner can sit in the chairs damn !!! I owe you my childhood
5:53 ah yes. The bell that I always spammed triangle on because of the noise.
Apparently in Vegas, if you go to the airport outside the main entrance. There will be a guard standing at the doors, go to him and press triangle and he will supply you with a key. This key will unlock the door at the back of the airport where a few srippers will await you. (the guard is not always there).
This game is simply good. No jada jada, just smooth driving and exploring
We were a Nintendo 64 family growing up so ps1 and even ps2 haydays were out of my jurisdiction but i beat this game for the game boy advance when I was 9 or 10 lol
2:23 LMAO. 😂

Just slightly tapping Triangle once makes Tanner sit properly every time (without teleporting into buildings)
All these years later I never knew what I was missing...the ability to sit in a chair lmao

It was way better than the first GTA and TBH IMHO it's still better than GTA, theres something about the car chases and fighting the police with your car that it's way more fun im Driver!
This was so hard but fun to look for secrets back then.
Absolutely loved Driver 1 and 2 back then, making up my own missions and jobs in free roam. I'm still pissed that Microsoft and/or Ubisoft won't let me play my digital copy of Driver San Francisco on an Xbox console.
I grew up with this game!
Still my favorite driving physics. I can still pick this game up and lead cops right into the telephone poles lol
Love love love love this game, I remember being so excited after beating " Find The Clue " in Havana, ( talk about a HEADACHE ) to finally be able to put in DISC 2, and explore Vegas, LOVED IT !!!. I recently played the newest game Driver SF for PS3, as much as the graphics look good. Tanner's face and voice is way off compared to how he look and sounds on D2. I wish this game would get a remaster. I always wanted to visit Vegas & Brazil in real life after exploring the cities in this game.. Always thought if a driver movie was to come out right after D2 was released, that Jones should've been played by Lenny Kravitz.
The time where you're not thinking about tax, money, job, responsibility, and freedom. I Miss that old time
if you notice his shadow when he is walking on his feet, you can see that he is holding two pistols. But if you look at his hand you won't see them, it just his bare hands.
This was the first game where I could not believe secrets existed in Games lol
I brought my friend over to my house just to show him that this game lets you ring the bell and wife opens the door. They were like: when's your wife gonna open door? Lmfao 😂😂 we were kids
Also, i used to lock myself in garage and trigger police when they drove nearby. Police ram to garage walls but never able to catch me haha, ahh good old days
Dont forget the hidden beach in Rio with monkeys in the trees. And also the invincibility cheat lets you drive on water so you can get to some normally inaccessible places.
props to that reverb sound effect when u get thru a tunnel or underground thingy

There is a secret garage in Havana too( I dont know if there is another one in chigaco). I just remember that you can find it at one of the last missions of havana.
I always remember just messing with the cops the whole game seeing how many cops i could have on for how long and how many i could take down all at once before backup arrived
