I watched this video before visiting alone several months ago and it was definitely a confidence booster! Then on the plane I met a guy who was starting a long solo backpacking trip and I think was very nervous about it and hadn't planned much so I got to show him how to take the tram too 😃 so you helped two people. Just now remembered to come comment my thanks
thank you so much!! i’m going to edinburgh in 2 weeks and its my first solo travel, these kinds of things are what make me nervous so thank you for making videos like this
Hey Tony, good to see you again! I've been on that tram. A mean lady (tram conductor) yelled at me for not placing my luggage on the designated luggage-rack. I tried to explain that the car was crammed full and I could not reach said luggage-rack, but she scowled at me anyway. Have any of you ever been chided by a Scottish person? It's earth-shattering! So, I just stood there with my errant luggage for a couple of stops until I got off at the airport. The entire time the conductor just glarred at me like I was English or something! I know I'm from an ex-English colony and all, but she did't have to use such a stern stare. I mean...it was hurtful. Besides that, the tram was great! Clean, efficient & modern. When I was there, that little church Tony passes by had a large Traveller's camp around it, but they seemed to have moved on. I think it's a little pricey for such a short distance, but the best choice for most needing to get to and from the airport. If, like me, you are in a rush to catch the tram and you mistakingly purchase an un-needed ticket, just go to Waverley station for a refund. The office is outside the station on Waverley Bridge. But don't go to the "Booking Office", that's an eatery, keep going til' you get to the Lothian Busses / Edinburgh Trams building just before you start to climb up to the Royal Mile. Sooooo good to see a new video from you Big T! Keep em' comin'! Say "hey" to Kirsten (the funny one), Lillian, Merlin & Neville for me! Go Clan Broonford!
Ah.... the "Chided" question. Worse still is the "Chided by a Scottish Woman" question! A perilous situation indeed. Time and a good therapist will help. Luckily Grandmother MacBean, a truly Sainted Scottish Woman saved me from wayward bad choices as to where my luggage should be at all times thus inoculating me to ensuing self-hatred. That's what my therapist says. 👀
Thanks, Tony! I watched this video before my recent first visit to Edinburgh and felt well prepared to take the tram into the city. It was as easy as could be!
Thank you for showing us the journey. I’m heading to Edinburgh this December and your video is so helpful in trying to visualise it. Thanks once again!
This was an absolutely magical experience for myself. To live in Scotland has always been one of my biggest dreams and you make everything seem so beautifully unique and majestic. The slow paced ride seeing the scenery, businesses, homes, people had put an unmovable smile on face from ear to ear. Being able to see Scotland through your eyes has truly been a blessing. Thank you for all you do!!
Each time I clear customs and see the Edinburgh sign outside the terminal there is an Exhale of "I'm back". Will never, and have no intention of getting used to that feeling. I hope that your dream comes to be! It's a really good one.
Thanks for another great vid Tony. We spent a week in Edinburgh over the new year and if it wasn't for watching your vlogs before we went then we would of been clueless. Your vlogs gave us something to look out for everytime we walked the streets. From finding the buried cannon ball to the 3 gold S's by the palace. Really cannot yhank you enough as it gave our long walks some purpose. I can see why you love the castle so much.......stunning from every angle.
Between 1979 and 1996 there were plenty of bookshops in Edinburgh, new and secondhand. When I went back in 2006 they were all gone. Hope there are some new ones meanwhile.
That brings back lovely memories. I do that journey about 5 times a year, when I come up from Dorset to visit my family. Hopefully I'll be up next month, Covid and weather permitting!
Thank you so much! I am planning a trip with my granddaughter this summer to the Scottish Open and staying in Edinburgh. I now feel comfortable getting from the airport to city center via the tram.
That was really helpful Tony. Clyde and I were talking about doing a car-less trip next time and taking tram from airport and doing buses and taxis rest of the trip. The transit systems of Edinburgh are so wonderful. We do the bus a lot with just a 4pound day trip. It works out great. So nice to see you out and about. Can't wait for the other videos.
About to go and celebrate my 50th in Edinburgh with my wife and this video was perfect for me to get us there from the airport. Seen a couple other of your vids, nice little back stories with small details most people wouldn't see but make a difference.
17:04 *worried playful voice* we`re gettin overtakes by a bus!! Aw i feel like a friend is showing me around, thanks for this, its calming to actually see the route before making it
Was in Edinburgh just before this past Christmas, it was my 3rd time there. This time thanks to you it was the best one yet. Keep up the good work. Thanks 🙏
Thank you again Tony! We will be revisiting Edinburgh in June and my husband and I were debating how to best get to the hotel from the airport. You showed us that the tram actually stops around the corner from the hotel - literally around the corner. The tram it is. Was sorry to learn that Jenners had not made it through the pandemic. I loved that store and was looking forward to giving it a really good look-through. Oh well. Thank you again. Stay safe and be well.
Thank you so much Tony for useful video! I will come in Edinburgh in October 2023 and now I know how it can be easy to get the center of city from Airport.
Awwwwe!!! Thanks for this very detailed tram ride from Einburgh Airport to Central Edinburgh. I am coming to Edinburgh in July, so having watched this makes me more excited for my upcoming trip. Thank you!!!
I've watched many of your vids and enjoyed them, thanks for the education of what's in Edinburgh . I truly liked the 5 breakfast more so Snax and now the Tram ride man how cool is that. I shall be in Edinburgh 18 May 2023 for four weeks , if I'm lucky I may see you on the streets Many thanks again
Excellent "tour" between EDI and centre of town. I love to see where residents live, work, shop and relax. Thank you for showing us the ticket (purchase) machine, tram platforms and interior of the tram and clocking journey time. Generous amounts of space to sit, relax and store (my enormous) luggage on the tram. Easy journey in 40 minutes. (By the way my father also took us airplane-watching. I still love watching ✈.)
This is getting me more excited for my upcoming trip! I loved taking the tram last time, even if it was chucking down rain. This next time? Hopefully less rain, definitely less luggage!
This was a good video. When I arrived in EDI last week I was well prepared. It was easy and quick, and a most enjoyable ride on the tram. Thank you!!!!
I much prefer the AirLink 100 shuttle (bus) which is curbside from the airport domestic arrivals to Waverly Bridge for £4.50 adult each way. Every 12 minutes during the day (every 30 minutes between 00:30 to 04:30) with approx. 30 minute travel time and very convenient!
Thát! was fun...even though I've been on the tram, the commentary made it brillant! 😆 Looking forward to spending 2022, in your company, Tony 🎉 hello from Denmark 🌸❄
The tram was a great way to get to our hotel in the city. Dropped us off not more than 50 yards from our hotel....loved it. Took it back to the airport and was so convenient and reasonable.
Excellent walk through, even as a local I enjoyed watching it. Only thing to note is that you missed the stop at Edinburgh Park Station, notable for serving Hermiston Gait Retail Park and the station itself which offers rail connections direct to the cities of Glasgow and Stirling and also to major towns such as Bathgate, Airdrie and Falkirk.
So easy! We took the tram last July from airport to Princes St and walked to Jury Inn, Jeffrey St. Great view of the Castle along way - love Edinburgh!
Great wee Video, Tony. I was in the City, (Again) from Monday til Yesterday Morning. It didn't rain once! I use the Airport Bus, to be honest. It took just 25 minutes. And costing just £4.50? Well worth it. Upper-deck... seat at the very front. Flight info displayed on Screens (Departures). I didn't know that Ex-Prime Minister, Tony Blair was from the City? So I went hunting. No. 5, Paisley Terrace. Just a normal wee Semi-detached Bungalow. Me being from Belfast? Was very pleased to find 'Ulster Drive'. Right round the Corner! lol. Thank you for all the Tips & Hints. And we're bound to meet at some stage. (I've stayed in your City, 7 times since early November). Take Care my Friend...O
Another excellent informative video Tony . Answered perfectly ,cost , time and ease of travelling to and from airport. Tram system was a long time in the making . Ever thought of becoming a tour guide . Best regards
It's worth mentioning the buildings the busker @17:35 is sitting in front off. They first come into view @17:04. There's three of four in a row. Look one storey up. The intention was, as was the way in the 60ies when they were built, that there would be a raised pavement at that level.
These are very helpful. Especially from the airport to Princes Street. I've always stayed close to the castle when I visit. Maybe I'll fly into Edinburgh next time. All the best to you

What a great idea. Thanks for that. Really handy to know about the trams. It’s a shame about Jenners, that was a nice department store. Glad to see you back 😀
I flew to Edinburgh for the Vaughan Bequest Turner exhibition held in the Royal Academy in January and took the tram to and from the airport. It was an excellent service but I was surprised that every tram had both a driver and a ticket checker which must be a hugely expensive overhead.

Very helpful. Thanks to your channel, I feel like I know my way around Edinburgh. I won't need to use Google maps and have my face in my phone the whole time when I eventually make my trip there. Thank you for all the practical and informative tips!
This is so helpful! I’m travelling to Edinburgh on Friday by train and my hotel is near the airport Now I know all my options how to get to where I need to be!
Great idea for a video. Very informative. I believe it started in 2014? I'd wondered why I didn't use it when I visited, but that was '13. It'll be handy when the extension to Leith is completed, living in Melbourne where trams are a primary form of transport, they're good for getting around quite quickly. Thanks for commentary during the journey, very interesting.
Spent a year living in Edinburgh in 2014/15. We took the tram often, and rolling through the Haymarket area brought back a lot of memories. One thing I remember is that the fare to Islington was reasonable, but then that one extra stop along to the airport almost doubled the fare. Is it still like that? As you said, you can almost walk from the second last stop to the airport. Any ETA on when the extension to Leith will finally be finished? Thanks for all the videos.
Thanks Tony. These are the kinds of things unseasoned travellers get nervous about so it's great to see a visual of it.
I watched this video before visiting alone several months ago and it was definitely a confidence booster! My idea would be a bookshop tour of Edinburgh 📚📚📚
yes, yes! a bookshop tour please! the older the better!

Great to see you back after the Christmas break… you’ve been missed. Happy new year to you all x
Ah Good Morning Tony. That is how I get into Edinburgh when I visit. Was fun riding along with you into Town.
Great Recommendation.
Done that journey a few times but in the dark from the Airport, nice to see it in the daylight. Thanks Tony

The tram went right by the flat we stayed at on our second trip! Thanks for the trip Tony!
That was so helpful! Thanks for another great video.
Coming soon to you tube......the adventures of Tony the tram driver.....Happy New year Tony
Thank you Tony! That was my suggestion a couple years ago, I'm so happy you did it.
This was so helpful for planning our upcoming trip to Scotland, thank you so much!!

This was so helpful! I was just trying to look this up recently too but this was so much better than what I read online. Thank you!!
Fantastic to see the tram ride that so many travelers will take - myself included. Thanks Tony
That was a damn good vid, Big Chap. Happy new year.

Thank you, this is very helpful 🙂 we are going to Edinburgh in April 2023 for the first time, and I am so exited 🙂
Bonne année à la petite famille et plein de bonnes choses....
The tram was a great way to get to our hotel in the city. Dropped us off not more than 50 yards from our hotel....loved it. Took it back to the airport and was so convenient and reasonable.
Thanks, Tony! Wonderful trip!
That was a great video! I never thought of asking to see that and that was extremely helpful! Thank you Tony!
Happy New year to you too all the best
Loved how informative this video was and appreciated the commentary.

Happy New Year! Nice video, reminds me when I was there❤❤❤
Another excellent informative video Tony . Answered perfectly ,cost , time and ease of travelling to and from airport. Tram system was a long time in the making . Ever thought of becoming a tour guide . Best regards
Oooooo a church ... you might have to check that out ... this was a fun little trip to take us on. Thanks! That thing moves ..
Love Edinburgh I've visited three times. The Tram is an excellent mode of transportation to and from the airport. I wish Philadelphia had one.
It's worth mentioning the buildings the busker @17:35 is sitting in front off. They first come into view @17:04. There's three of four in a row. Look one storey up. The intention was, as was the way in the 60ies when they were built, that there would be a raised pavement at that level.
A bit similar to Chester? Why did it not happen, do you know?
Happy New Year. Great to see you again.
Thank you, these types of videos are so helpful. Esp for us that need walk thrus and visuals. Happy new year!
Thanks for that tour, greetings from Honduras 🇭🇳
These are very helpful. Especially from the airport to Princes Street. I've always stayed close to the castle when I visit. Maybe I'll fly into Edinburgh next time.
All the best to you
Thank you for a great video. That makes traveling to a new city look easier!
Thank you for this video! I'm visiting soon and it's so helpful to know how to get around before I arrive. Much appreciated 😃

Thank you, this is a helpful and insightful video.
Thank you just what I needed
What a great idea. Thanks for that. Really handy to know about the trams. It’s a shame about Jenners, that was a nice department store. Glad to see you back 😀
This was great - very helpful for my next trip to your fair city! Thanks!
Brilliant! Thanks for the vid, will be visiting in a couple months I hope. Gin and haggis baby. And fish and chips !!
Thanks for this video. It makes me feel more comfortable using this option when I visit in July and October from Canada 🇨🇦
Cool, I've not been to EDI (airport or city) since the tram was installed so looking forward. Great voice/narration btw.
Thank you so much- „Danke“ from Bavaria
Thank you! very helpfull, I feel less stress. Merci
I flew to Edinburgh for the Vaughan Bequest Turner exhibition held in the Royal Academy in January and took the tram to and from the airport. It was an excellent service but I was surprised that every tram had both a driver and a ticket checker which must be a hugely expensive overhead.
You can use your Edinbugh bus pass. You might have to do a part dos when they finish the line to leith? The 1st stop after the airport is the park and ride stop (ingliston).
That's the tram I took from the airport to the center when I was in Edinburgh!
Sank you very much for your jorney tram and comentary.

I'm Planning going to Edimburgh very soon and this video is very helpfull! Thanks.
Glad it helps.
I remember the viewing area at Edinburgh Airport. I loved going there to watch the planes. It is a shame they got rid of it.
Very helpful. Thanks to your channel, I feel like I know my way around Edinburgh. I won't need to use Google maps and have my face in my phone the whole time when I eventually make my trip there. Thank you for all the practical and informative tips!
it's worth pointing out that the tram is flush to the platforms - so getting your wheelie luggage on and off is easy.
This was very interesting and helpful. Thanks!
This is so helpful! I’m travelling to Edinburgh on Friday by train and my hotel is near the airport
Now I know all my options how to get to where I need to be!

Great video! Good information to have when get to Edinburgh by plane. May be do a video about the buses as well. We hope all is well. I like the hat.
A video on riding a bus in Edinburgh would be great.
Well done! Much thanks 😊
No problem 😊
Thank you for your video. I am from Somalia and I would like to visit beautiful Scotland one day! Nice country!
