Thank you so much. Being an exile from Edinburgh for 50 years now, I still miss this proud and beautiful City of Edinburgh. As a child, I lived in the Grassmarket with my granny who like yourself was highly knowledgeable about the City. She furnished me with a notebook and pencil and told me to go forth and explore. I love Edinburgh with all my heart...
“It’s a part hotel and a part not” sooo funny 😆 My son & I stayed in the Canongate on a recent visit the latter half of April. Yes, we enjoyed the quiet of this area after a day of walking about. I hope the visitor numbers pick up more - yes, please film again during Fringe. Love your city immensely 🙋♀️🥰🏴
💙 I am chuffed! I will be in Edinburgh, in 2 weeks! I am so happy to finally be going back - this video just made me smile! 😃 Thx for the look, Tony hello from Denmark 🌸🌱
That was a great wee walk and talk...yup if you don't look up you'll miss half of what there is to see...that quotation that you didn't understand is from Psalm 133:1 Look! How good and pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity! ...the way the world is right now...we could do with a bit of unity...💕🌷🖖
You pulled it off Tony. Great to see the Mile busy again. You're right about looking up and slowing down as there are bits everywhere to poke into along the Mile and just off. I'll be back in September and am counting the Days!
Funny how I watched this video for a walk down memory lane and actually spotted myself and my son in the video from our visit in 2022. Very cool too see, well done on the video.
"I won't judge you" (camera pans: "Yes, I will") - that was so great I had to rewind and watch it again! I am thrilled to find your channel! Another favorite bit: "That door has secrets, and I want to know those secrets" ... beautifully narrated and so interesting that I couldn't stop watching. Thank you for sharing your work and your insight and local history. (I watch a lot of RUclips videos but have never been moved to leave a comment until now; and I will start looking up even in my own home town - thanks for that good advice.)
Thank you from a girl born and bred Edinburgh born west port just up from the Grass market. But now live far away in west Wales it was so nice to see my home town
My great grandmother was born where the veterans lawn bowling is. It used to be Duncan’s Close. First time i visited from Canada and found it I was so thrilled
Hi there, thanks for another great vlog. We all love them in our house. I'm a new subscriber but have watched for a while now. I did manage to impress everyone with my knowledge on Edinburgh recently after some of your fab facts. 👍 Please could you visit some of the colourful giraffes around town. We would love to see them. And whilst we were there in May we visited Musselburgh but didn't get chance to visit all the arrows on the Musselburgh Arrow Trail so it would be great if you could show us more of the trail. Big thanks 👍🏴🏴🏴 Katie
Do love the royal Mile. Was recently in Edinburgh to visit my son. On the Friday we went to see him play at Banshees in his Band. It was brilliant. Im Scottish, stay in Ireland but love Edinburgh .
Thanks for doing this updated walk. We are going to be visiting Edinburgh in the fall and really look forward to it! Your videos have been super helpful.
Just watched todays video We LOVED seeing places that we visited in March and the new things that have opened since our visit And that the street in front of The Worlds End is all put back together Thank you from Texas
marvellous to see this - makes me so excited to go back to my home town Edinburgh in September on holiday have not seen it since 2019 due to the pandemic. Now live in the Isle of Man. Sally Peers
What a wonderful place!!! The buildings are just priceless!!! Tis a shame one can't be transported back in time when they touch one of those gorgeous doors/gates. So much history! I loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee the telephone booths!!!! Thanks for sharing and I loved going down the Royal Mile!
Oh man I love this ! I came across your videos when I was researching Scotland before I went! Loved it there ! Stayed on the Royal mile!!! Walked these streets many times !!!! Also in leith !!! I miss Scotland !!! Lovely country
Hi Tony I just love your videos of Edinburgh they are so great and Helpful with a lott of history funny enough I walked the same route on Thursday 07/July and enjoyed it so much I will show my family next time , I went into a lott of the closes on the mall and enjoy sitting in Dunbar close garden from one of your previous videos but thank you keep the history of the city to come.
The 1677 quote you read is from Psalm 133: "Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity!" Love your videos and will visiting Edinburgh in September! Thanks for all the great insights and recommendations. ❤🍧🍰
Fantastic video! Thank you for your virtual tour guiding! I'll be visiting in April..... Can't wait!!!! But I'll know my way around, thanks to you!! :)
You are wonderful Mr Brooford! Such an enthusiast for taking us around and about your alluring and magical City! I would be visiting soon... next year that is 😊i want to see the 🧚♀️ 🧚♂️😊Thank you so much for the valuable information! Have you visited Canada.?
While you were walking down the Canongate, you stopped at Reids Court and wondered aloud, who lives there? Well, we had the privilege a few years ago of staying at the townhouse on the right just behind the gate. The white building with the red door was the house for the Minister of the Canongate Kirk (it still may be!) The tree in the courtyard has a plaque that was dedicated by Her Majesty. We loved the area, so quiet.
The 1677 lintel carving at 23:12 is a common Bible verse used for Freemasons! Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity. Very close to the oldest continually used lodge room in the world! Rabbie Burns was a member there and I'm getting a tour of it this August! Cannot. Wait!
Not only are the things on the outside of the parlament curtains, they're also designed in such a way that when side by side the gap make a wee highland coo!
Tony!! Thank ye so much! I love your videos and hope to find you roaming the streets in a few weeks!! So informative and entertaining, especially the things people just walk past. Thank you!!!!
So happy to see this new video! Can't wait to be there soon in September, we have been analyzing maps and figuring the best place to stay. Thank you so very much for all your very useful vids. You all need a vacation yourselves, Come back to FL and we will show you the best spots away from the tourists hahaha, Love to you and your beautiful family :)
I recently visited. It is so nice to look at your video in order to look back at this wonderful city! Thank you! PS. I loved the interior of the Parliament Building!
Thank you so much for doing this Tony! It brought back so many wonderful memories when I was there in 2019. The past few years have been rough but this helped tremendously for me. It brought tears of joy. You're the best! ❤️🏴
Loving your videos. Becoming even more "geeky" about revisiting the Royal Mile. Recently found out we're staying in a flat right above Sugarhouse Close with a view of the Tolbooth Tavern. I still can't believe it. And, I didn't look up until you did in this video. Now I'm wondering about that star. All the best to you and your family. Hope you are all, "happy, healthy and well". Sorry... Just had to!
I was there! That same day! Didn't see you though. I was actually a little sad that we didn't get a good view of the castle, but other than that we had a great time! Glad you are feeling better 🤗
Can’t wait to visit my great grannies place which is number 2 St Mary’s street which has a blue door I’m tempted to knock on the door and ask if I could see it.. their apt was the top floor … see Edinburgh in 2023 April to celebrate my birthday where I was born.
Noo way didn't know this video was being shot in 8th July. I was in Royal Mile too that same day for my holiday in Edinburgh just a beautiful city and yeaa it was busy ❤️
Could you do a video on the Mackenzie tomb in greyfriars kirkyard? I don’t believe in ghosts or any of that but there is 100% something wrong with that tomb
Tony, at 8:27, in the courtyard of St. Giles, what is the story behind the ancient-looking dwarf tree in the planter? I’ve never noticed it before, but it surely looks as if it’s been there a century or two!
GREAT tour of the Royal Mile. You have become our go-to for planning our upcoming trip. Question, have you done a video of what its like touring Edinburgh in January/February months? Very interested in weather and if store/shops/activities are shut down? Thanks and keep up the awesome job.
I hear Boris Johnson is to retire as pm.Any chance a new job for him would be the new Duke of Edinburgh?or at least a counter job at Greggs?Steak bake anyone?
I know it's a bit of a strange question but can you tell me when it is the least busy and most rainy in Edinburgh? I'm an artist and a major introvert but I would like to plan a trip in the next few years to visit and photograph the buildings and streets there.
I know you were not wearing your winter hat (aka a touque) in this video. You really need to switch it up from the Seattle Kraken to the Montreal Canadiens. I may have to source one for you.
Hey now. I got him the Kraken one because a) I live in Seattle b) it's a brand new team and c) it seemed to fit with the Loch Ness monster and unicorns. But if you want to get in a war of teams named for peoples of Canada, I could send him a Canucks one since I'm from Vancouver.
I'm sorry, the Scottish Parlaiment building designs doesn't look like "curtains"; they look like infrared forehead temperature takers. See, they were ahead of their time!

@ChristophersMum I so agree with you! Thank you for deciphering the quotation!
We are down tomorrow for 3 days, and are buzzing for it :)

I am coming to Edinburgh in 8 days and I couldn't wait before, but since finding your channel I am now looking forward to it even more :D

You’re an excellent tour guide! Trust me, most of us here in the USA are ‘weary’ of Starbuck’s giant footprint also.
Glad you’re feeling better Tony. Was good to see the Old Town busy.
Watching from Houston, Texas, USA... Wish I was in Edinburgh! Looks super cool! Thanks for the tour! 😀👍
