- Hello, my name is Tony and my parents have been the kindest in the world. They have left me their house, I have unfortunately lost them both lately. The house will be perfect for my wee family but first it needs a lot of work done and I am not a joiner, in fact I don't have any trade. However I do like to give things a go so I hope you will join me as I try to transform this house into our new home. I mean what's the worst that can happen?

It is such a blessing to have a home without a mortgage to raise your children. Your parents were very generous to gift you this. Edinburgh is ridiculously expensive for anyone that's not wealthy

It's a lovely house Tony. I'm sorry you have lost your parents. I hope your wee Marty is feeling better. Last year my Mum signed her house over to me. A 1960s house with 80s furnishing. We just had the purple carpets removed. Omg thank goodness. Lots of painting to freshen it up. I donated a lot of her belongings. I didn't want to make money from them. On the other side, I have had to reconcile with a big of guilt while remodeling. It's a journey with loads of feelings. You will make it your own and bring your family in and raise the children and all will be amazing. PS We're in Toronto and we're coming to Edinburgh for the first time in July ♥

Glad to see you back, Tony! Other than yourself, I pretty much only follow woodworking channels, so this will be a treat. I’ve done a fair amount of home DIY myself, though I’m curious to see how building practices differ between the US and UK. There are certainly a wealth of resources here on RUclips. It's a great feeling doing up a house and seeing your work at the end. It's even more of aj exciting challenge when the house is stuck in a certain era and making it modern or unique.
