    I appreciate how honest and insightful Simon is. He doesn't conceal the truth to benefit his personal image, yet he shares his true thoughts and struggles which actually boosts his image. I don't even know if that made any sense, but moral if the story is Simon, you're a great role model, share lots of candid moments (I mean you vlog-that says it all :) ) & keep up the good...EXCELLENT work.

    I liked the singing parts :( Showing what was a big part of your life, and being able to find time for it whilst doing your PHD was cool to see. Can't please everyone though

      Awesome. Think you're going to become really big on this platform. You're in a relatable, stressful and time consuming situation, but also have an energy and attitude towards it, that is something to strive for. I wish I had some of that 'I don't see tiredness as an excuse not to do something.' Great work

    Sticky note TIP! If you peel of the post it to the side instead of in an upwards direction. The bottom of the post it won't stand up.

      I'm sure that won't be a problem, I'm a first year at the University of Melbourne and I'm hoping to do a PhD in the future, your vlogs have been a great insight into what it's like doing a PhD so I hope there are many more to come!!

    I can really see the improvments you have made over the time you started filming your life. Especially this video, its much better than some previous works/vlogs you have made, not as much as the content( its always been good) but more of the quality and overall Cinematography. Such as the editing, music, etc.
    Thanks for doing these videos keep doing them.
    (I like the new name :P)

    Doing work in inorganic chemistry redox mechanisms and its pretty hard to organize all the different things going on with the work. I really loved the colored sticky note on paper thing you did! I'm going to run out and get some today so I can map out all the facets of the research - thank you!!

    I'm blown away by ur chilled out confidence that everything will just fall into place...i spend most of my phd doubting and quietly panicking...with the occasional maybe i can do this...will try to have more faith :) (ironically i am otherwise and was previously quite a confident person :S )

    Simon, these week in the life of a PhD student videos are absolutely fab! I'm a 3rd year maths student considering doing a PhD and for me, the most interesting thing is your work life balance- you have a great attitude to it all. Really enjoying all the other videos on the channel too 😃

      RaidsEpicly just want to ask its hard to keep up and work you know all those math parts so how do you catch up to your expectations?

      Honestly, you just keep grinding away at it. For me, the classes I found most difficult/the least enjoyable were Calc II and Calc III, so you just have to put in the grunt work to be able to get through/understand those topics.

    Max Richter and Johann Johannsson are some of my favourite composers! Olafur Arnalds is also fantastic and I made a playlist of all three that's like 3 hours long which I always listen to while I study, its great!

    As a math student, writing and debugging code often makes me want to cry (it's always a missing semicolon lol) I have so much respect for people that are proficient in programming.
