My 2023 RAV4 has HORRIBLE wind noise from the triangular glass by the rear view mirror on the passenger side. Dealer replaced seals/glass and it got worse. Dealer then sealed the window with windshield adhesive and that got rid of 85% of it. I used electrical tape on the inside from the seal to the glass which helped even more. Passenger door itself is still noisier than the driver's. Might try additional weather strip.
Can you please explain further what you mean by "sealed the window with windshield adhesive" ? Like covered the entire windshield? Along the edges? Thanks !
@chrispdx5755 Actually took the door apart and reinstalled the glass, supposedly using a windshield adhesive. It's not visible.
Have you solved your problem? I hear the noise of the wind when I exceed 120km/h. do you have any advice for me?
@lucio9388 Toyota replaced the little triangular glass by the mirror which helped somewhat. I also used black electrical tape around the inside of the triangular window and added another D-shaoed rubber gasket around the passenger door. Probably a 60% reduction in wind noise overall.
@@bajaskiercan you send me a photo please?
I think there should be an attachment or replacement for the mirror that can reduce the wind noise
what size Weather Striping did u use
So glad I stumbled upon this video. I was just about to buy a 2024 Rav4. May look into something else. For the price point this should not be an issue.
Which trim are you looking at? I've noticed some trims are less noisy than others. I recently drove a RAV4 Hybrid Limited and it was much more quiet than my RAV4 LE. Test drive first before you look for something else!
I 100% agree with you. I was sold on RAV4 but now will probably turn to q5 or something...
glad I found this, test drove a rav4 the other day and noticed the noise right away. Looking at hybrid cruiser. Was almost sold on it but going to shop around now!
I bought a 2020 rav4 limited. After 60-70 it’s very very noisy. I will try solution in the video.
Drove off the lot and noticed it. This car is so much noisier than my 2019 Highlander
Def. Our 2016 Highlander is way quieter than our new Rav.
Yes the RAV4 is more economical for a variety of reasons and less sound deadening material is one of them. The Highlander is a great vehicle, too.
I'm of the 39% that have little issue with wind noise. But admit I have wound both roof rack horizontal bars with paracord. I've watched videos of some owners using bungie cords. Though I will say the password works out wonderfully and is less conspicuous.
Hello there can you put a link to the seals used in this video , thanks 👍🏻
They're just generic ones from a local auto shop. Measure the width you need and buy extra length.
I recently purchased a RAV4 and the wind noise irks me while driving on the interstate. I think it is much noticeable in this 60-80 mph range. I do not have a crossrail attached. Has anyone tried this door lining solution?
Thanks for addressing this in the video!
I noticed you also have the A39 tires. Have you noticed very dangerous hydroplaning with that tire at highway speeds in even the most shallow of puddles? First time I drove at highway speeds with maybe 1/8” of water in small tire ruts in asphalt, I hydroplaned for the first time in my 42 years of driving. New RAV4 so new A39 tires. Took them off immediately and replaced with Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus.
I haven't but that's good to know - thank you for this!
Its the the little A frame on the driver and passenger windows. Try putting some masking tape around the outside of the A frame. Wind noise will stop.
Please, Can you explain yourself better? Thank you!
@@lucio9388 on the 5th gen rav4. It has a small triangle window glass called an A frame window. Located at the front of the driver and passenger front doors. Try putting some masking tape around the outside of the A frame window glass. It should stop the wind noise.
@@762-m9bthank you so much , I will.
@@762-m9bthank you so much, Did you solve it this way? Can you send me a photo of how you did it?
Thank you very much.
@@762-m9bBut did you solve the problem like this? I hear noise when I go over 120 km/h.
Thank you very much.
What size weather stripping?
It just depends on your RAV4 and where all you plan to put it. We recommend measuring yours before you buy to ensure a proper fit.
Driving a 2024 Rav. The wind noise is very loud. The seats are also too firm for a long drive.
Could it have anything at all to do with where the car was manufactured?? I have a 2022 RAV4 Hybrid SE (my 2nd Rav4) and have had no problems with wind noise - at least not "annoying".. Both however, were manufactured in Japan. Oh, and I also have an OEM roof rack.
That was great, TJ! Excellent tutorial, videography, and audio. I’m gonna give it a shot. Do you have a link to the right type of insulation? Don’t wanna go too big or too small. Thanks, Tom
I have a 2020 RAV4 it was making a loud sound going down the Hwy, I took it it for service and it was the bearings on the wheel . They told me it was common at that time… good luck .
how many miles?
I'm European, and with my standards this wind and engine noise is absolutely unacceptable. It's bearable under 110 km/h (68 mph) but driving on speedways at and above 130 km/h (80 mph) is a pain with the rav4. Plus if you wanna stay in the fast lane you must be able to drive 150 km/h (93 mph) or more. This car cannot handle speed. The problem is not just the wind: the engine being not only noisy but also vibrating the whole car.
For a 45000 euro car this it's unacceptable, Toyota goes down, unfortunately!!!!!
@@MagicArt431they are not what they used to be. My 13 year old Camry is quieter than my 2022 rav4
Yep and my 05 Lexus is like a rolls Royce until some usual suspects tried to break in. They left alot of scratches and couldn’t get because it’s like one of the hardest cars to break in lol. Even AAA can’t get it and have to try multiple times.
Oh my, life is so hard..
Yup, I got 2024 trail RAV4 the noise and vibration is bother me a lot. Feels like can’t handle speeds.
Hey I couldn't hear you most of the video due to the wind noise. Can you do a voice over?
While a truck overtaking him...
You look like you're in Brampton Ontario right ?
Filmed in Texas, actually, haha.
Can you recommend what weather stripping to buy?
Good informative video thanks
I have a brand new 23' RAV 4 And there is a ridiculous amount of wind noise at 45mph and above on the drivers side. I took it to Toyota, and the service manager took it for a test drive. He said, "Geez, that sounds horrible!" So, he asked me if I could wait for the first oil change, that way the service department can address the door issue at the same time. I'm okay with waiting, the air is coming in at the upper rear corner of the door. You can actually pull the corner towards yourself while driving and the wind noise stops completely. Nothing looks out of place when comparing it to the passenger side , so it will be interesting to see what it is.
I have a question did you notice anything other noises coming from the engine or some other places besides the wind noise?
@alexanderjames4109 Definitely. This is the first hybrid that I have owned and there are all kinds of different sounds coming from the engine, little clunks and thumps. I was told that this is normal. The shift between the battery and the gas engine is noticeable at times, but I have gotten used to it, but my wife is always concerned that something is broken😄
Update please
I just got a 2023 rav4 limited today, while driving it back home I noticed wind noise coming from the driver side window (top rear corner) its getting louder when I go above 60 mph. However when I put my hand cover around that area the wind noise stops, very annoying. Hopefully I will get used to it someday :(
Guess I'm not part of the percentage of owners whom are frustrated with wind noise in the RAV4.
The issue hadn't even come to my attention.
And "no", I don't drive around with loud music playing, just in case anyone has a conjection.
Have you ever driven other car brands before? i have , and think Toyotas besides being very reliable , are the most uncomfortable rides i don’t know any other worst at contact.. it feels totally cheap you can feel 100 percent all bumps and path holes really hard ..
@@alexanderjames4109toyota builds these cheaply as possible. Soda can thin metal. No sound insulation. Try one of these vs a Mazda cx30. The cx30 is the same price if not cheaper and it's way quieter. Toyota could do something about it but they're too cheap to.
That’s NOT the sound mine started making few days ago; when I put in reverse it sounds like I’m about to hit something, but nothing is behind. WHY?
The whole vehicle feels cheap but it's my wife's vehicle and she likes it.
Doesn't bother me period! Not using radio either.. Well done though!
No offense to the content creator, I know they mean well but the door weather stripping barely makes any difference. The problem happens because of 1) the giant door mirrors and 2) there's a passage from the hood to the door sill which is covered by a plastic flap which channels wind into the door sill area. I don't have a roof rack, but even then the wind noise when I drive on the I-5 gives me the thousand yard stare. I've even considered putting on noise cancelling headphones while driving it. I love everything else about the car but the wind noise, is just a shame. Will be trying wind deflectors from WeatherTech as the last resort.
Any updates?
@@saurabhbhalla90 Yeah, the wind deflector broke and tore the rubber lining on one side 😂
@@love2huntbooks2ouch lol. This car was so great but the wind noise drives me crazy. Makes me want to get rid of it. Whats your decibel reading at 55mph? iPhone app suggests mine is 66 decibels minimum at 55 mph -_-
@@saurabhbhalla90 Don't dig up old wounds like scurvy man 😂. I climbed that peak of denial and have accepted it. Mine was also something similar. Although, for the road noise, I can't wait for my tire tread to wear down, so I can go for something a bit more soft compound to reduce road noise. That's the best I can do. 🤦♂
@@love2huntbooks2 lmao Im waiting for the same. Already started researching tires with over 20k miles left on the current ones 😂
can't believe sienna 3rd gen is more quite than 4th gen...
Noise cancelling headphones?
I wouldn't recommend wearing those while you're driving!
I have a 2020 RAV4 hybrid limited and the battery sounds like you're taking a couple 2080 TI's for a ride with you 😂 That's not wind
Love Toyota and love my RAV4, but Toyota is not a luxury car brand. Like Toyota even has the Lexus brand, which is their luxury brand and a lot quieter than most Toyota's. So Toyota does focus on insulation, just like most auto makers. They do not do it for their generic brand.
As long as people keep buying the RAV4, Toyota would not fix the cabin sound isolation problem.
Never going for rav4 again ,the noise is terrible
My 2023 Corolla SE is so annoying. Tomorrow will be my second time going to the dealer after 2 months because it's getting worse.
I like to listen to Bible and calm music while driving.
My 2013 Corolla was much more quiet inside than this car. Too bad it started to need more tlc than I could give.
I did go and drove another corolla SE it had the same wind sound so there is nothing the dealership will do. I'm going to get some of the stuff you're using.
**The dealer warned if it cause any damage I may void warranty. I prefer that than to listen to the wind.
my 2023 rav4 doesn't have wind noise.
Dude seriously efficency and affordability? 🤣🤣🤣 in europe toyota has the price of audi
I brought a RAV4 24 hours ago and I’ve noticed the sound … annoying 🥲
This is unfortunately a "feature" on all rav4s
Toyota is ass
Me too! I just bought my RAV 4, 2 months ago. I took it twice to the dealership about the wind noise by the windshield of the passager side, and they said that's normal and there is nothing that they can do. 😶
I bought a week ago its so annoying
I bought mine 4 days ago so I am here now😂
