- The groundbreaking vision of AMERICAN HORROR STORY may not be to everyone's taste, particularly with its dark and unsettling second season, "Asylum." However, no one can deny that AHS features one of the strongest ensemble casts assembled for any screen -- silver or otherwise. With careful precision, filmmaker and television powerhouse Ryan Murphy ("Glee," "The New Normal") gathered a cast of players that not only committed themselves to the challenging, genre-driven material at hand, they elevated it to vertiginous heights. And next to the legendary Jessica Lange, no other AHS player proved themselves as fearless than Sarah Paulson.
As intrepid reporter Lana Winters, Paulson brought a humanity and soul to the often soul crushing abuse she endures at the infamous Briarcliff asylum. What made Winters such an unforgettable character was Murphy and the series writers never allowing her to become a horror victim stereotype. Winters always has a plan, keeping her wits about her no matter how dire the circumstances. She may look like Mary Richards, but she possesses an edge and a survivor's mettle that makes her all the more unique.
The contrast between Paulson's contribution to the first season of AHS, where she played a moony psychic, to her role as a lesbian journalist in "Asylum" is a testament to her versatility and strength. And, with the series finale now here, the last act of Ms. Winters harrowing journey is appropriately mindblowing, indeed.
Find out what made Paulson the MVP of this second season of television's most provocative series in this interview with Jorge Carreon, now on The MediaJor Channel.
Watch the season finale of AMERICAN HORROR STORY: ASYLUM on Wednesday, January 23 on FX @ 10pm.

LANA LANA BO BANNA BANANNA FANA FO FANA FEE FI MO MANA
Where does that quote come from? I can't remember :/
+bloodyhetza it's from 2x10, in The Name Game scene :)
lana winters will always be my fave throughout ahs she was a strong woman!
She's so articulate and every question he threw at her was quite difficult to answer…I'm so impressed!
This was the most terrifying season of the show particularly with the whole bloody face story line. I was so disturbed by the thought of the tortures inflicted on the women in his basement that I lost sleep. And like she said it's scary because these things have been known to happen.
same, he and his basement STUCK with me, It was on my mind and I felt so sad for her. the ups and downs, the emotions.
I thought Jessica Lange was the stand out in season 1 and 3 (along with Angela Bassett). But Sarah Paulson was amazing in Asylum. And Lily Rabe. Those moments when her true self would break through the demons possession...ugh, so good. Anyway, Lana Winters is my favourite character of all seasons.
bdawgz YAASS. I loved Lily and Sarah in Asylum.
Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Lili Rabe and Zachary Quinto killed in Asylum. They were undeniable highlights. 🙌🏽
Believe me, I luv this show. Both season 1 and 3 were GREAT, but as an earlier comment posted season 2 was a MASTERPIECE.
Sarah is half the reason I love Asylum

Can someone please tell me what happened in episode six???????
‘O Lana Banana😂
A reason the first season was better was because it was more fantasy ! The second season was more realistic in a way, therefore for this genre , it in my mind makes t automatically less good!
She's so great bæ factor 100000000000
Wait but what did she have to do to her body In electroshock therapy?
Lana Del Gay
Lana Banana
She will always stay Lana banana in my head

What exactly did she mean in episode 6? What was done to her? Because there were several truly awful things that were done to her....
+Alex Miller i think she refers to the"breastfeeding" scene, when Dr. Thredson tells her abot his mother and the origin of bloody face.. im not sure, but i remember her saying that that scene was one of the most difficoult to shoot, with the abortion one...
I think it's the aversion therapy
Jordan Pearson the aversion therapy was EPISODE 4
Lana Del Ray, look alike!
Lana Banana!

Season ONE was SO much better than season two...season two was mostly disturbing...season was a little bit but it was mostly just GOOD, season two was ok but not nearly as good
Season 1 was the least interesting in my opinion. Maybe it's just me, b/c I watched the seasons in reverse (started with Coven) but I found Murder House rather uneventful and dull in comparison to the later seasons. Season 2, in my opinion, was the best. Brilliant writing, phenomenal actors, and the show had a sort of confidence and personality. I got the impression in Season One that they were scrambling, trying to figure out the show's tone and what it was all about which by Season 2 they definitely had it figured out. Season 3 they started to get cocky and the show lost some of it's intrigue.
AJ Rodriguez I think in a lot of ways 3 was the best but season 1 was pretty good,.frankly i think season 1 was the least predictable actually with the most surprises, that's why it was good...with the exception of Zachary Quinto's character being a serial killer
AJ Rodriguez I totally agree with you! I cannot figure how people can say that season 1 and 3 were better than season 2!!!! Season 2 is for me a masterpiece: as you said, "confident", and I would say complex and mature. I realise it is not everybody's taste though.
Huh? Season 2 was wayyyy better than 1. This season had a better plot, better written characters, better setting, better villains, better twists, better acting. It was overall better written. Season 1 was clique and extremely predictable not to mention the plot was very thin.
