A really quick part of the chapter, but I loved when Bonney asked Luffy about his bounty poster, and Luffy states it’s because he’s “FREE”. It’s a nice moment where we get to see Luffys perspective on Gear 5 after the battle.
also the fact that he is fully aware of the form is reassuring as I was wondering if he was gonna struggle to transform again in the future. It still might be the case tho. Im thinking of gohan struggling to go back to ssj2 years after Cell effect but with Gear 5th
@@zak14 luffy's gears don't work the same way as saiyans transformations do.
luffy mainly uses his imagination and creativity, whereas the saiyans go through hardship and strain to reach their powerups.
I think the most important part of this chapter will be Vegapunks line about "controling the urges of living creatures." and what implications this could have for whats happened with Kuma and the Seraphim.

If you look closely you can see that Egghead seems to be a tropical island despite Nami mentioning the harsh winter climate at the sea around it. The halo around the egg structure might be a device that keeps the island warm, paralleling the unfinished structure that Vegapunk would use to warm Baltimore.(The land were Franky was sent during the timeskip)
That would fit perfectly with what Nami said about the weather. The only way to cause that massive updraft that Zoro chopped up would be a crazy large source of heat.

Vegapunk was first mentioned in a conversation between Coby and Helmeppo in Water 7, and we had Helmeppo mentioning Coby in this chapter. Also, if Jinbei was the star of this chapter, he just lost his position as the character that took the longest time to appear after the first mention. Jinbei was first mentioned by Yosaku in the gap between Baratie and Kokoyashi Village and appeared the first time in Impel Down, a nearly 450 chapters gap, but Water 7 to now is a more than 600 chapter gap, so Vegapunk just stole his title.

The last year or so of the manga has been such a glorious time to be a One Piece fan that's up to date.
It's crazy to me that literally almost every chapter in this time frame has been just huge revelations, crazy fights, big mysteries expanded on one after another, and it shows no signs of slowing down! I don't like to punch down on other series to boost up the ones I like, but I really don't know of any shounen manga that's managed such a consistent level of hype and quality over such a length of time!
I can totally see Franky having a Chopper-Hogback moment in this arc, maybe giving us a legitimately heartfelt moment for our hard-boiled shipwright meeting an idol who doesn't live up to his expectations.

I'm joining the theory that since Vegapunk worked with judge he could have his conscience in multiple bodies of clones from different species: we see Vegapunk as a young woman and maybe see him as a fishman, mink, lunarian, etc. In jumpsuits with different numbers. Also very happy to see the loyalty of Helmeppo in this chapter given the situation with Koby.

Yeah, I’d say Usopp might be getting an upgrade or two. Either his sling or some new types of bullets, but maybe not. Franky is the most likely to get new upgrades imo.
I'm so very, very happy with what this chapter implies for the next arc. We've got Bonney and we've got Vegapunk, and the very large connecting thread between these two is one Bartholomew Kuma. Kuma has always been one of the most enigmatic and fascinating characters to me, and I'm thrilled at the prospect that we're finally going to learn more about him and why did the things that he did.
If Franky is the focal point of the next arc, I will be so happy. We haven’t really had an arc where Franky can truly show off since Enies Lobby
He also got some great moments in dressrosa
The time when we first heard about Dr. Vegapunk was at Thriller Bark by Kuma and he mentioned that it's believed it will take the rest of the world 500 years to catch up to him, and know after his reveal in 1061 we will finally get to know about the mysterious of DF and his reason to be on the side of WG....

Same. I've always been on the Bonney boat (and I've been wanting her and Luffy to meet since she was introduced!) Mad Monk Urogue is probably a lot more forgettable to me, tbh. And Bege before his big break in WCI arc.
(Bonney has also been on my 'join the crew' list since waaay back since she's usually not shown with a crew of her own, so it's like... she's just running around doing her own shit and could probably use a helping hand doing whatever plans she has going. I know any chance of that is incredibly slim, though. Realistic expectations.)

To be honest the calls for Bonnie to join the straw hats are actually pretty understandable because currently Bonnie said herself she doesn't have a crew anymore most of her crew members were captured by the Marines and Bonnie escaped on her own she is literally all by herself so it's either join the straw hats and be welcomed into a new family or just travel the globe by yourself with no one to be with that sounds pretty lonely.

I think jinbei being added into the crew was something that was needed, but not until this point of the new world. Because he has experience as a captain as well. Plus I've always thought how crazy it was how few pirates befriended fishmen/merfolk. If I was a pirate that couldn't swim... I'd want as many Fishmen on my crew as possible.
I feel like getting so much stuff in the past few chapters made something as big as seeing Dr.Vegapunk for the first time just feel like another thing that happened I don’t think it hit as hard as it would have if the previous 3 chapters didn’t have so much revelations

Bonney is my favorite non-Strawhat member of the Worst Generation. I've been really eager to learn more about her ever since her first appearance, so I was thrilled when she appeared last week. As for fan service, I generally feel the same way you do about it (I'm 46 years old at this point, far removed from the hormone-driven teenager I was when I first got into anime and manga who got excited every time a female character appeared topless), but if I'm being honest, then I have to admit that this one was well done. Amyways, I thought it was a great chapter overall, and I'm excited to see what comes next!
The crew splitting up is not a New World tradition, it is a One Piece tradition that started with Baratie and has happened in every single arc since.
People are just traumatized since dressrosa, but this is literally how it always goes.

They've been splitting up since Dressrosa. We need more arc like Sabaody where they still split up but still in relatively small area. It's been forever since Strawhat doing an adventure as a whole group
Even before Baratie. When it was just Zoro and Luffy, they got split up (by Luffy being taken by a bird). It's been a thing since the very start of there even being a crew. XD
I must be one of the few who don't hate it, and actively enjoy it. It's like "which configuration of the crew is going to be lumped together this time and how are they going to interact with the crazy that is whatever adventure they're about to fall into?" I like it a lot! Like, remember Thriller Bark where Nami, Usopp and Chopper dealt with the various fearsome stuff by crying and running away, but then Luffy's group tamed the Cerberus and dealt with the zombies...? Peak split team go! I love it!
@@7thlittleleopard7 I agree - the argument could made that it even happened in Syrup Village. It is used both as a way to generate character interaction between the split group members that would not normally happen with all the Straw Hats together as well as to help explore the new island and the world at large, giving the the crew a narrative focus and goal at each new island.
I can get that people don't like after the prolonged split that happened in Dressrosa but I remember reading weekly the crew separation that happened at the end of Sabaody and waiting two years before the crew even started coming back together so I was not as bothered by the prolonged split with half the crew. I mean we focused with one half of the crew and then focused on the other half.
I love how bonnie mentions luffys hair being white in the bounty post, and luffy responding "that how i look when i feel free"
I am thirsting for some great Franky moments this arc.
I bet the sunny is getting an upgrade. In the first half of the grandline you had:
Alabaster --> Skypia --> Foxy / Water 7 --> Enis Lobby --> New Ship
New World:
Punk Hazard --> Dress Rosa --> Zou / Whole Cake --> Wano --> Upgrade of Ship.
And Frankys new wanted poster picture may be Oda hinting at us again.

Oda is such a genius (as if it wasn't obvious to everyone already). He has spent incredibly long building up stories and mysteries in the One Piece world. So after Wano ended, he literally could have went anywhere with the story ie. Elbaf, BB, Revolutionaries, WG etc. And there won't be many complaints no matter where he decided to take the story next. It took him over 25 years to be in a position where every turn will lead to answers for the audience. Or is it more questions??? Hmmm..

@@patman_for_sure It's not quite that bad. If you're way out rural you'll get spiders in the loo, sure, but they're not jumping on you and trying to eat you alive or anything. The more aggressive ones tend not to be the more poisonous and it's been decades since a death occured from spider bites.

Vegapunk explaining why the shark is a failure for going against its programming makes me think the reason momonosuke’s devil fruit is a failure is because of something similar. My guess is that mythical zone’s tend to have a mind of their own and she wanted to control who the fruit chooses. But instead created a fruit that was more like the original if not with stronger willpower than kaido’s

Honestly the straw hats are split but feels more like a pre time skip split kind of how little garden, or a thriller bark are where they have 2 or 3 teams and then regroup halfway through.
My prediction is that the Dr Vegapunk we saw in this chapter is the daughter of the actual Dr Vegapunk because we all know Oda loves his “princesses”

The 1st chapter of the Wano Arc we all knew what was coming: Staw Hats vs Beast Pirates!
We have no idea who the next big antagonist is going to be and we have so many to choose from and it’s awesome! Oda always hooks us right back in!
I mean, yeah we knew what was coming in Wano, but we didn't know what what actually coming in Wano. There were ideas of where shit could lead but not actually guessing how it would all fall out. If you say that you knew that Luffy would get imprisoned, that Big Mom would get brainwashed, that Ace would pop back up into the story and that Oden was such a gigachad or that we'd get such an epic flashback... you'd be a liar.
@Afilou lo korim be kolnoa Lies. You didn't know any of those things I mentioned. You didn't know that Luffy would meet a little girl who gave him her food and had contact with Ace in the past. You didn't know that Kaido had a son called Yamato who would help in a huge way during Roof Piece. You didn't know Roof Piece would be a thing, either. You didn't know about Luffy's fruit, you didn't know that there was a spy and who that was, you didn't know that Kiku existed or that time travel was an integral plot point.
About all you did know was that there would be a fight with Kaido and that we somehow had to find a Road Ponyglyph. Everything else was shock, surprise and interesting shit.

Oda has to rush because of the anime more the anime adds filler or extends it.
There is this recurring thing where women in One Piece start out as an enemy/rival/Team No Mugiwara, but then become allies. Nami, who was using Luffy but ended up joining their crew, Vivi, who started out as a member of Baroque works until she became basically an honorary member of the Straw Hats, Robin, who started out as Crocodile's ally but became a crew member, Shirahoshi, who was originally terrified of Luffy but became a friend, Rebecca, who started out basically trying to kill "Lucy" but became a good friend, the list goes on. So I think that Vegapunk will end up aiding the crew one way or the other.
Really want a twist on VP. Something more than "it's just an old man and this is a cyborg". Girl Theme hiding BEHIND the old man all theses years would be nice and refreshing.

First of all, Oda so far has been drawing Vegapunk as a man and we heard Vegapunk in the anime before when he caught Ceaser and his voice was male + he is called ''old man'' by characters like Sentomaru.
Considering the girl has number 2 on her, I think it's likely that Vegapunk has a bunch of androids of some kind he can control remotely to talk through them instead of coming there himself *or* Vegapunk is multiple people at the same time.
Yeah he probably created androids to speed up his work, could be like gamma 1 and 2 from dragon ball movie

It is more likely to be him because of the type of speech used - they made a note that it was old fashioned, which is very 'old man'. Now, there is a chance that if Vegapunk's daughter/grand-daughter she could have picked up his mode of speaking, but it's more likely that it's Vegapunk himself either talking through an android body via remote speaker or actually being in the body itself.

I really hope that this will be the arc that Devil Fruits get some explanations.
BUT! Oda said a 'Professor' will be the one that will explain the reason of the Devil Fruit's Devilry Fruitiness, and unfortunately Vegapunk is a Doctor. So I think Oda might have set up the ultimate Troll, a trolling that took 15~ years to get to.

You know that huge egg looking thing vegapunk seems to have a ring built around? My theory is that when we get closer we get to see that is the hatched egg from the back of Roger's ship.
Taking this island and modifying it to be ice cold so the egg doesn't rot so that Vegapunk has extra time to study it for the secrets of whatever it was.

I think this girl is Vegapunk's daughter/granddaughter/niece/apprentice, something along those lines. This is mainly due to the fact that she said that she is mediocre, and one of the main defining traits of a mad scientist character is that they are VERY confident in their abilities.

I mean the straw hat crew being split up for a bit of time in an arc is pretty standard procedure at this point. Infact I can't really think of a permanent instance where they were'nt split up for a good chunk of time in an arc. But there's a reason for it as it just allows Oda to manage everybody better and make sure everyone has room to breathe. I LOVE that he paired Jinbe and Chopper together along with Luffy I've been hoping they get to interact more so I'm very happy about that.
My first impression immediately of Vegapunk is
“ that’s not him, that’s a clone or his daughter”
I am still convinced that this is not THE Dr Vegapunk. Mainly by the fact that the timeline doesn’t add up and that Vegapunk was referred numerous times by other characters as “ Old man”
I had the same reaction first seeing the Vega-1. "Franky, is that you?"
It really shows how even when the world considers the straw hats a yonko crew their ship is very small and still get caught off guard. It really shows how they haven’t changed one bit even when they become more infamous.
I agree with you about Vegapunk! Many people seem to forget the fact that Vegapunk was referred to as an old man repeatedly in the manga. This is not his original body.
Gotta say this channel has dipped in entertainment for me. First was him talking about theories too much and now the spoilers in the thumbnails. I'm caught up to the manga and 'Vegapunk' was spoiled for me on IG, and I get to keep the channel relevant you gotta do what everyone else is doing which is posting things early and/or in your face but I think that'll do with my subscription to this channel. Been a fun ride G.L.R.

Did anyone else notice that the giant robot is very similar to frankys new robot parts that he got after staying at vegapunks island? I think that maybe he found some of their old blueprints and franky designed it to be like the robot, but this could also mean that vegapunk can know all of frankys moves due to this.
