Rebuilding a 2015 Toyota RAV4 that was peeled opened in an accident

- A new build starts today. Something peeled open this Toyota RAV4 so it is time to patch it back up. Clean freaks be warned, the inside isn't pretty but there is a rumor I might give into the dark side and do a little cleaning. Low miles and an easy fix, should make for a quick sale but there are some complications as we will find once we get started.

There's a lot of good editing in this video. i appreciate the extra effort.
It takes 20 minutes to film 10 seconds for video. Fun, but I don’t always have the time for that.
Looked great.
Yeah the editing is great, now if we could get the same quality of CONTENT hehehe
(I'll show myself out now lol)
With no need for loud screaming music.
lol
If I'm ever buying a rebuilt title car, this is the type of guy I would want to buy from.
3 hours working on the car, 6 hours editing the video!
Yep, creators understand the struggle!
All worth it
So Wes, just remembered your comment a few months back that Mrs. Wes's RAV4 was just about 100% rusted through. So possible candidate for the new (to her) ride for the Mrs.?? Think it'd be cool for you to be a customer of Scott's and he's kind a close to you right?
@@vehcor Think we need a Wes and Scott collaboration!
"Effective but not if you want to put it back together."
Your humor....its the best....I literally laughed out loud!
Man you are working mr spotty hard today, he's everywhere.....it's that new contract he's too keen...
He is working as he should.
My first thought was, "I wonder how much damage the forklift driver did?".
You don’t know anything about rebuilding cars then. The only way cars get transported on these auction lots is from the forklift
@@algsoccerstar That is true. It’s also true that the forklift drivers often cause damage to the vehicle.
Typically just scratches in the bottom, if any.
Silver duct tape is almost a perfect color match!
Toyota certified repair tape!
@@vehcor no thats antirodent tape that is Toyota certified!
I’m sure I haven’t mentioned it before but I love that pneumatic can opener
Me too!
I was using your favorite tool before you were born. In 66 I T-boned a car with my 59 Impala bubble top. A few weeks later I saw another 59 that had been T-boned. So with the X frame, the body of the T-boned 59 was toast but the front clip and frame were fine. My front clip and frame were also toast. I picked the T-boned car up on auction for a few hundred dollars. I had to use your favorite tool to get at the front clip bolts. But at 16, I put two totaled cars together to make one for a net cost of $75 after selling what was salvageable from the parts car (engine/trans, glass and a door and trunk.
If the air chisel was not the first air tool invented after the compressor, it should have been! 😂
I'm a retired panel beater, did it for forty two years, can't believe I'm watching this but I do miss the trade... Hi from the UK,
Sometimes it is fun to watch and see how others do the same thing in a different manner. Greetings from the USA!
I love watching you work and hear you narrate what you're doing. I wish other channels would do the same, but most talk your ears off and then do a little bit of work and then talk more. Also, thanks for picking on the clean-freaks as well!!
And not overlaying music noise over the work noise.
Thanks, it is easier for me to film the work and narrate it later. My main goal is fixing cars, not making videos. That is where the difference comes in.
I agree that Scott's videos are the best. I look forward to watching them every Friday. And I watch them again during the week to keep my good cheer while I wait
The work you do well in this workshop looks very impressive. Thank you with all my heart.
Great video! Those cutaway shots on the trailer unload were awesome. We knew exactly what u were doing at every step without sitting through 8 minutes of unstrapping and unloading. Great editing sir, and as always the subtle humor and wit are funny!
This video had everything we could have asked for! Plenty of Mr. Spotty sightings, the favorite tool made its presence known, nice jabs at the Safety folks, and a bit of vacuuming for the cleaning fans. I especially enjoyed the different camera angles showing the scrap metal making the journey to the “pile”. Looks to be another top quality rebuild/repair. Can’t wait for the next installment!
Love the running gags! And the detrailering montage was great. Keep up the good work sir.
Scott I think what I enjoy best about you doing this work is you make it look so easy. And I know for you since you do it all the time it is easy. You understand the process and you understand what you need to do to get to the results you're looking for. But to people like me who don't do this for a living , it kind of looks like magic. You take something that was destroyed and written off, and turn it back into a functional machine that anybody would be happy to use because you put your fingers all over it made it good again!
vehcor has a "Pile Cam" hilarious!
I have used it a couple times now. 😂
@@vehcor must have been a Ford family
You crack me up with you snide remarks about the Mustang.
Always enjoy watching another man
work.
I love the trailer unloading “yelp” tribute. Lol
this. i was dying lmaooo
Love watching your new builds!!!
I'm new to watching your videos and I want you to know your doing an excellent job at filming and making these videos. Continue to do what your doing and I promise you will reach over a million subscribers because of your great content. Thank you my friend for your time and effort into producing these videos as they are very entertaining
I got in at #665. That's a nice low number for once. I hate it when the video gets all old and scratchy - and skips. Nice new video! Thanks.
Fresh videos are always the best! 😂
Just watched this again. Excellent work, Scott. Both on the car and on the video.
that scream coming off the trailer threw me off lmao. i love seeing this channel grow and the quality has really improved over the years and old or new its still really enjoyable watching these
Bought a 92 Bronco that had 10 garbage bags of empty beer cans (Coors light), $10.00 worth of loose change, extra parts for a total brake change including a rotors, and a half a tool box worth of tools. Winning.
I'm enjoying these 'quick' projects just as much as the longer ones.
TGIVF - thanks for my weekly quality fix!
Thanks for the support!
you remind me so much of my high school shop teacher. especially with the "Bitch Mittens" part
Back before everyone was afraid of everything, I presume. 😂
Watching you unroll the rear quarter reminded me of my first new car. I had a 1976 Toyota Celica. Made the first payment on Wednesday, ran into a gal on a bridge on Friday. I broke her tail light on her 68 Buick Skylark. I was missing an entire right front fender. I couldn't find it anywhere. Went to my next appointment, and as I was coming back to the car I saw a little tiny bit of white (it had a reflective white stripe on blue) about a quarter way up the passenger door. Yup, I had rolled up the entire fender and stuffed it under the passenger door.
i find your vids very interesting as in this day of replace-a-part. Many body shops tend to right the vehicle off because they tend not to learn how to knock things back in shape keep up the good work mate yes i am from Australia and this is becominh the here as well
Thanks for the support!
Enjoy watching your videos and the quality of work you do and even enjoy your jokes just waiting on more of the amazing work on the mustang
I had flashbacks of the A-Team intro watching the cut views of you removing it from the trailer. I re-watched it with the theme song playing. Epic....
One of my favorite shows and intros!
The scrap yard could put slip on extension lifts on the forks as to not damage the underside of the vehicle when loading it on your trailer , whether it be a parts car or rebuilder! Amazing and baffling how people get in situations that destroy there vehicles , even if it’s a accident, today’s cars are not that hard to drive ! Great skill and work ethic , mr spotty gives enough support and direction to see the project threw . Enjoy and be inspired by your video!
I knew it was coming but the trailer scream cracks me up every time!
Woo hoo.. been waiting all day. Have a great weekend! Thank you for sharing
I too look forward to boring build Fridays! Great thing to watch when finished work for the week.
Maaan, listening to you gives me the sense of Boot Camp. Straight hard talking - barely any subtlety.
Flex tape for the win!
@ 07:44 - it is ready for a trip to Walmart!
Looks like a fun project. Thanks for bringing us along.
Thanks for watching!
Hello from Los Angeles ,I really admire your job I wish I can have your availabilities to fix this vehicles is an art ! Watching you every night hasta la vista!
very satisfying to watch, keep em coming
the color match on the "body fix it tape" was spot on!!!
Another great build/video to look forward too! Please clone yourself (and Mr. Spotty of course!) and open a West Coast Division. Lots of rust free candidates out here and locals can't drive worth a crap either!!! Glad to be a happy customer!!
Vehcor and Mr Spotty are gonna throw down one of these days,it’ll be a bigger fight than Rocky and Apollo!
What do you want to bet the reason they crashed was the crappy tire tread in the rain, also I would definitely take a look at the maintenance stuff engine oil transmission fluid etc. Anybody that leaves the interior of their car looking that crappy probably isn't doing any other maintenance.
Great video definitely enjoyed watching you work on it.
I like that slide hammer that things up Beast always enjoy your videos awesome video
My first visit. Tyre depth 3/32 ! Over the pond we've measured tyre depth in metric for ever! At 8.05 when you pulled with the slide hammer l know l would have cut through at the fuel flap , drilled all the spots out ,carefully removed that section and "given it a go !" If someone says to me that won't repair that's a red rag to a bull ! 😂😂 Air chisels have been banned
in body shops over here for 40 years +. I see many videos of so called body specialists but l can see you know what you're doing . A very pleasant change . Thanks . Going to have a gaze at the Corvette. Cheers!
Dang your camera and editing skills are improving!! I like the cinematic shits in this one ☝️
The detail guys needs a raise!
15 gallons of bondo😂😂 this sent me rolling! Great video! Also the editing is🔥
I did such a good job with the duct tape, I may only need 10 gallons! 😂
also thank you for having the amazon page with tools used on there!
I can tell you know what you are doing and care about the outcome of your work. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for the support!
These repairs seem small when you do them but they are 5-6000$ repairs in a shop and you do it right
I look forward to Vechor Fridays
Tape Lives Matter! Had to go there!
If this isn't more 2020 then I don't know what is😂
Does the color of the tape matter? 🤔
@@vehcor All Tape Color LIves Matter. : )
@@bcool4068 - Hey, be careful. Talk like that will get you in trouble with the silver tape matters supporters. lol
Mr. Spotty needs a bling upgrade from masking tape to HVAC tape!!!
Darn, you pulled off the tape! I wanted to see the 15 Gal of Bondo. ROFL
You do amazing work with a touch of humor and sarcasm.
Thanks for sharing.
I literally watched the whole video with a smile on my face...
I always love the screen when driving off a trailer 🤣🤣🤣 the afternoon crew will never love that down
Great video and...the duct tape repair on the quarter was a good color match!!
My wife and I drive a 2018 Rav 4 so it was interesting to see how similar this one was to ours. We are in New Zealand and the US model has a lot of differences, not just being left hand drive. The whole console's different and our model has mag wheels for a start.
I like your mild sense of humor. Funny but not manufactured to the point of being stupid. Thanks for that.
Dude you deserve more subs! At least 500k
I liked the quick cut trailer unloading sequence
You do very good work, I should send my old jeep your way and let you have fun with it 😊
This should be mandatory viewing for most body shop guys. In my experience there aren't many out there that are willing to replace quarter panels. They seem to rather get a huge amount of repair hours to fix (get it close and bondo) or like in this case total it and send it down the road.
Ok everyone, just admit it. You screamed along with vehcor as he drove off the trailer. I did.
Happy Friday the 13th Scott!
You certainly were hard on Mr. Spotty in this episode, hope he recovers from the beating he received. Another fine plan to repair a vehicle that was prematurely disposed of. Perfect fit for your enterprise.
Enjoyed all the commentary directed at the safety police, and the interior vacuum, it's so not your style to be doing all that "extra" work. Have a great weekend, work safe always, see ya on the next 1.
Doug@ the "ranch"
Good work I prefer air saw for section joints but to each his own
It just makes my day when you back off a trailer!
ALWAYS great work 🙋♂️👍👍👍👍
Good job, looks like it will be a easy flip. 👍👍👍
Thanks, it should be, these are very popular.
Your good at what you do sir
Kind of odd that was deemed a loss. Guess there is not a lot of value in 2015 Rav 4? That's a long way to pick one up. Looking good buddy.
Good editing Scott, you’re getting fancy!! I agree with you the interior is probably why it was totaled. 🤣
It takes a long time to film just a few seconds so I don’t always have the time for that.
Amazing once again mate thanks buddy👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺
3:09 As much as I admire your dedication to repositioning the camera and getting every step of your work in a shot and all the editing that must take, don't you think the one of just putting the prop rod in the hole in the hood was too much? :) It was good for a laugh at least.
Good video as always! 😊👍
DAMNIT! Where is the Bondo!! Also, you need to send Mr. Spotty off with the Afternoon Crew to cross fit; just point out to him in the contract the health and fitness clause.
Great work.
My luck the transmission would have been bad. You had me on the duct tape thing. 😂🤣😂🤣 Looks good so far!!👍👊💯🙂
Every once in a while you get an expensive surprise, part of the job.
after you put duct tape on that quarter I thought the car looked "factory"😂😂😂, all kidding aside, great job, looking forward to the finished product👍
Hay this is first time i watch your channel. Nice! Cutting out the quarter glass could be much easier using some long spatulas for autoglass and less chance of the air knife popping out and ruin the parts that dont need repair or even worse cut into the molding on the glass. Dont get me wrong air knife is great but i rather use them to save windshields. Man i do miss that part of saving glass for bodyshops its so satisfying.
Saw that inspection sticker then you mentioned Virginia 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
When my children were young I had thick seat covers installed each time we bought a new car. When dirty just washed them.
and heavy rubber floor mats to cover floors. headliners were doomed though. opps i remember when auto s and trucks came with rubber floor coverings damn they were completely washable, we've taken giant steps backwards
I agree and electronics that are much to sensitive. I live and work in South Africa and 90% of my car trouble are wiring or computer. And not rodents but bad roads.
When mine were young they rode in the truck bed.
I was banished to the way way back in the wagon. I liked it there! I was not allowed to eat in the car.
@@vehcor I remember the F**d Torino wagon when dad was stationed at Leavenworth. Out the back of the base, there was some undulating road that made riding in the back.... interesting. Except my brother- he loved it back there. One day, we had to go out that way. Jim had eaten more than his share of Froot Loops. We tried to tell dad "take it easy!". That only made him go harder. That was, until all of a sudden the back of the wagon exploded in Technicolor. After that, dad took it easy on that road.
Great work
Absolutely Awesome and Amazing!
Your smash cut editing reminds me of Army of Darkness. Well played!
Another great Friday build , love your favorite tool I need to get one of those !! Tell Mr Spotty to stop being so lazy ...lol
I liked this video because I like to see good work. Not because you told me to.
😂
Great stuff, love it
Vehcor Day!! I actually turned one of these down make me regret it brother!!
They are easy sales but hard to find a good deal on.
Smiley did an awesome job with the ductape couldnt even tell. He needs a raise
Great video Scott. Toyota is the new Ford.😉🤣🤣
It's Friday already! Almost forgot to change my shirt.
Is that a food bag under the drivers seat at 10:23 ?
Love how you use the Ol' Alabama chrome.
Spoke to ya later, Ka moan.😎
Wouldn't be the same without the Scream. Ha ha ha. You do excellent body work! Like the joke about the duct tape. I have seen people trying stuff like that, Usually behind buy here pay here lots! LOL
The scream is required, it’s in the manual! 😂 Thanks for the support.
Awesome videos!
Mr spoty looks extra happy today.
Duck Tape and Bondo works great every time my friend !
Love alll ur videos bro thabjs for sharing
That scream every time 😆
Every time from now on, I learned my lesson!
Love to see the Mustang again
Love the editing on the unloading ... :) Hilarious.
Thanks!
