That void in the middle is off center. The majority of the void is under the arch where there isn't any pressure. The perfect location for a weight reduction.
They actually recently released the 38! The 37s can be found for near half price now on nike, DSG, etc In terms of performance, I recommend the lows over the highs. The lows have better containment and support
I think 36 did it better. Using more Zooms made it lighter, and by using longer and stiffer carbon plate they made them even more propulsive. Also these zoom pockets degrade way slower than those extremely soft foams, so you can rock the same shoe for longer. These jordans are made just to continue the "new year - new shoe" tradition.
that's like, every nike basketball shoe for the last decade though. Their budget lines are the only ones good for playing outdoors and longer durability, they just lack the stacked tech. Other brands from outside the US are filling that void a lot better
@@RoseAnvil I have the 36! It’s one of their better offerings in a while but I wouldn’t call it an outdoor shoe. That said I got it for like $90 at which price point that kinda tech is a steal and a lifesaver for my knees outside. But at retail…the durability just isn’t there although the tech alone arguably makes it worth it
Ok, So I bought these exact shoes sometime early this year (same colorway and all) because they were like $80-$90 at finishline. Never wore a modern "Performance Basketball Shoe" before these and after a couple wears I appreciated them instantly and they've made me buy a couple of Way of Wade shoes later this year just because of how surprising they were.
I wear this exact model/colorway right now to ball and absolutely love them. They're absolutely not made for casual wear, though I suppose you could, and the cushioning and support/weight balance are fantastic. With basketball sneakers, especially if they're not purpose-built for outdoor play, will wear through the traction before you would seen any benefit from heavier materials like actual leather or something particularly sturdy/substantial. They make plenty of casual shoes, but these aren't them. Also, I got mine on clearance for like $70 brand new. Jordan pro-top: buy last year's model with the new model is about to come out. Maybe I'll try the 38 next year.
You can get these below retail now and it's pretty worth it performance wise, and you can get the better Lows too for less. Hope you do the 38! This is a year late 😅😅 just sold mine. Thanks though! Not complaining, love the content. I'm just really hyped for the 38 that just came out.
As someone who tried these and the low version (and considered buying to play high-school basketball in), they are missing the one of if not the most important things…. Traction. The traction is really mediocre. Not to mention the issues of containment or weight even tho I really like how breathable they are. Also the 38s are out now so would like to see a review on those 😄
No idea these had a void. I weigh 230lbs and have played in that exact pair hour hours already. Never felt it. I got these on sale too for $60. What a steal after watching you explain all the tech that went into these.
I have worn both the 36's and 37's. After my experience with the 37's, I bought another pair of 36's before they all sell out. They're just more comfortable for me on court with my style of play (wing/jump shooter). I will admit that the 37's do FEEL like they have a bit more oomf when running/jumping, but my feet end up feeling more fatigued and sore after a couple hours. I would say if you're more of a slasher style, attack the rim player, the 37's will probably perform better for you. My personal preference is the 36's though and they can be worn casually as well IMO.
I really enjoy your videos man. Been into kicks and collecting since 2004/05 in middle school but honestly it’s not even about the shoes your videos are really insightful and full of great info. Really well made too. Plz keep it up. Very inspiring
There's a skate shoe called FP. They have the same concept of the formula 23 foam that is meant to absorb impact for guys jumping down a flight of stairs on their boards. I've seen where they drop a bowling ball on a cement block with other insoles and their FP insole, and the block cracked with every other one except theirs. Didn't even bounce. Then sell the insole separate but they have the shoes which have more shock absorbing stuff. I always thought it would be neat to see what is inside one and get yr take on it.
Agreed. I found them for 75 euros and played in them quite a bit, but they are not so stable in lateral movements. I really noticed that I was wearing the shoe while I was playing. I think this is due to how far off the ground they are with all the foam and air units, and also the more athletic shaping of the shoe preventing it from having a wide base. Also the upper is really breathable, but quite uncomfortable. I needed to wear really thick socks with them. Switched out to the New Balance Two Way V3's and love them, not as bouncy or cushioned, but enough. Fantastic ground feel and great for lateral movements.
I almost roll my ankle using this shoe.Ended been giving it to my brother since he weighed more & and played center. For point guard that dribble & running wild on court, this ain't a shoe.
You should do a pair of vans skate classics and compare them to the normal vans. I love your videos and the edit style. Keep up the incredible quality!
I actually use the 37 and I like it. I really do. If anything, the only problem is the carbon fiber shank. I’m 200 pounds, I’m like a guard and within my first use, the shank was like splintering, breaking in half. Other than that, no complains really
I bought the excat pair for about half of the retail price. Its very narrow, I had hard time running and making cuts on the court. I'm worry about rolling my ankels. Not good for wide footers!
You've gotta take a look at the Way of Wade 808 3 by Li Ning! I'm curious to see what you think of the drop-in midsole, and drop-in technology in general
The gap in middle is partially for deformation and flex and center. Does it need to be that big? No. But idea is to give space for movement without deforming the front and rear contact zones. Just my guess
Always love your Jordan vids and unique analyses and viewpoints. Now I know the hype train’s left the station, but I still reckon 1s are cool. The recently released Palominos are really cool, with “luxe… premium leather” as claimed by Nike. Lots of reviewers call the brown leather nubuck or suede, but I think they’re better. They have an uncoated finish with imperfections still visible, so I daresay there is some upper layers intact? They smell good too! It would be amazing to watch you dissect and analyse this shoe.
Hey man, I really wanna buy one of your belts but the lack of options in terms of belt buckle design, and especially for the black one, a silver color buckle, has kept me from it. Always great work on the channel, and the stuff looks sturdy, just that one small adjustment. Not tryna look like a thanksgiving settler on the black and gold.
I really thought of buying the Bordeaux colorway 37 as it was an homage to the Bordeaux 7s just to put them side by side to show how much basketball tech has progressed but sadly after seeing many performance reviews....I dunno
Do you have a video for the best steel toe work boots for women? I've looked but you have a lot of videos. Additionally do you factor in for ankle support? I have Ehlers Danlos and need ankle support so I don't dislocate my ankle. Thanks to anyone who knows the answers!
Hey Rose Anvil, love your content. Also if you have not done so already, I would love to see the inside construction of cross training shoes. Popular brands like Nike Metcon, Reebok Nano and Adidas Tribase Reign just to name a few. I enjoy working out in some of these shoes. Would be curious on your thoughts about such shoes. Thank you again for your content.
It's kinda nuts when you consider what just that single line of shoes has made them over time. Combine that with all the other basketball-inspired shoes and that's probably not even half of the shoes they make.
Another excellent review the double stack front loaded 4 foot air. Zoom bags look interesting. I wonder what the feel is like on the court. Can you please cut in half the Nike air Foamposit one, the tech in that shoe is still at the pinnacle of basketball performance shoe and his stood the test of time as a design would greatly appreciate it.
Isn’t the hollow part of the midsole working with the carbon fiber por that rebound effect? Maybe a lot more flexibility to improve it and get a better result
I didn't like the style of it, but specific colorways grew on me. Definitely a bouncey shoe and I like the almost 1 inch off ground height. Can feel the double strouble cushioning in the forefoot walking... 23 foam in heel... not so much. Negative- the potatoe sack meshing is not comfortable, hard wire feeling, prefer 36 mesh comfort feeling. The exposed shank gets destroyed.. rocks, stairs... it scratches up... the shank should not be exposed, should have been covered with rubber.. to make the bottom of the shoe more flat ... more contact with the ground. I am a 2E wide and it is true to size 10.5 (all other Nikes, 11 or 11.5 to have a comfortable fit) If I go up .5 in these to a size 11 I feel the heel cage digging into ankle bone... and 1 inch dead toe space... heel dig a major issue... but true to size in Jordans 10.5, I don't feel the ankle heel cage digging into bone. To resolve the heel digging into ankle bone going up .5... just buy a heel arch support, it lifts heel above the heel cage that digs. I find these shoes to be comfortable walking in because of the bouncey feeling. However for basketball I find them to be unstable, the upper around the ankle is too filmsy... NOT PLUSH at all... the tongue at the crease of the ankle is thin so when the laces are tied... will feel pressure on foot veins etc. The forefoot curvature of the bottom of the shoe is not wide, so that leads to it being unstable. Verdict 7/10... 36 is more comfortable but this shoe has more bounce and height off ground than the 36. 37 is Comfortable to walk in.
So….no hate first off. But do people really buy those belts? If I gotta bust out a screw driver to adjust it….why not just grab a hammer and awl over driver and pop a new hole? Really curious and been wanting to get one, but keep coming to this thought.
Not everyone has those tools, simple as they may be. I have a fast metabolism so I constantly gain and lose weight and I’d rather just loosen some screws then go to my shed and make sure I line up the new hole to the old ones then punch it out. Doesn’t sound like much but it’s more convenient for everyone to just loosen then tighten some screws.
y'know what this is interesting because that dead space with nothing in the middle kinda resembles the previous jordan 34,35,36's hollow-ness in the middle. the 37 really did still carry the DNA i guess
Cool video dude! But u know what would be better? Cutting up a pair of doc marten work rated steel toe boots and seeing how much they differ from made in England and Asian made doc marten boots 👍🏽🤞🏽
You need to cut open a pair of soccer boots. Soccer boots use very interesting tech to become as light as possible. I recommend the mizuno Morelia series because they use a kangaroo leather to achieve a weight of 185 grams
So you’ve cut apart the Shattered Backboards, but you haven’t done any other high end Jordan shoe yet. No 85 or 95 pairs. No 2011 Banned pairs. Then there’s the Vachetta Tan pairs too. Also, I would highly suggest updating your Jordan 85 pair video. The black and white pair seems to have a much better leather on them, so I would suggest getting those and seeing what the changes are.
first of all, the quality of these videos is phenomenal. Secondly, i dont understand how people spend so much money on these shoes when the quality is so subpar to ASICS.

Also looks like they did the same with the 36 with the hole in the middle but just did it inside this time.
There definitely is pressure for some as a lot of people have no arch
