It is great to have your guide for making this model, I think I get the 1st version of San Juan. Yes, the part 18 has holes to allow the wood stripe of the gun deck go through. And also two wood-like blocks placed at the front and real end of the ship.
The great thing about this video,,it tells everyone to fully read the instructions before starting work.Think they need to update the schematics with this kit!! Many thanks for the video.
I believe there are going to be more, i hope not but i'm pretty sure! Always you have to read the instructions and if you can you have to read many steps further to be sure. :)

To what depth do you need to drill holes for the masts?
Around 2 -3 cm.
