I've always liked Bill Cullen he seemed like such a nice guy.
He had a great voice.
Born: February 18, 1920, Pittsburgh
Died: July 7, 1990, Bel Air, Los Angeles, California, United States
@@mizzury54 His voice is so nastaligic to me....
He was a cheater. 19:36 22:46
@@gwenscott535 He was not that old, really.
I'll always remember Allen Ludden and Bill Cullen for their wearing eyeglasses....
Did anyone one else come to the idea that first female contestant was coming on to Bill? Her body language was all over him. After the lightning round she took hold of his hand and hung on to it longer than a gesture.
He looked like he was really enjoying it too.
YES. AND SHE WAS SO DARN ANNOYING..
People were warmer toward one another then....I think she was just enjoyinv the game.
I think nervousness caused a lot of this touching and handling. Notice it was usually the contestant doing all the mauling.
the narrator sounds like he is laughing lol, I love it
Bill Cullen maintained that exact look for years - the look Drew Carey has now. Heaven only knows why. Finally - FINALLY - Cullen began to let his hair grow, but that was also about the time his vision began to require him to wear really thick glasses.
The crew cut was not uncommon back then.
I liked Bill Cullen better with the crew cut. It really looked good on him.
I thought that barbara would attack Bill-whew-aggresive!
That was hilarious by Bill Cullen saying we're here to pass Playword 🤣
lol lol And we're all here to Pass "Playword!!!"
This show makes me happy and relaxes me.
Good ol' Bill Cullen
Yeeesssss it’s playword 😂
@@Molly-kv5si Yes, It's Password!
William Dunphy I love how the announcer goes along with it after Bill Cullen says it haha
My god , Jane was gorgeous.
Yes, so edible
Still is.
She totally stilll is
Still is, if you think tales from the crypt is hot.
@@sharksport01 - What does your prom date, 'tales from the crypt' have to do with this? Still emotionally attached, huh? Sweet.
such an engaging show
Jane just turned 80-Can't believe it.
Scott Burton And looks 55.
Jane always actually looked much younger than her age always; even as she aged. Look at her on here from 1962 with James Mason. She looks darling. She is 25 years old at the time. Jane also looks beautiful and youthful as Bree Daniels in Klute And she is 33 years old.
Margaret I meant she looks 55 today, not in this video.
@@HenningDiesel There is a sick irony that Jane is sitting next to a service man 🤪
@@olddisneylandtickets Yes.
I wonder what was going through this vile creature's mind at that moment.
I'd be nervous sitting next to Jane. My god she was lovely.
but quite an airhead
She was very serious about playing the game...
she was a traitor
Id be nervous too, but for different reasons.
You should see her n the 1962 game with James Mason. One of my fave of guest stars appearances
Jane was a good sport, applauding her competition.
Will never forgive that elite,snooty,liberal,traitor.
She did the same thing in vietnam.
@@rebelbaron7003 So I guess you'll never admit she was right and you're wrong.
@@sharksport01 She was right; we were on the wrong side of that worthless war.
@@fretbuzz59
She was definitely right. 100%. It was the way she went about it.
I would say for "Pitch" "Throw" and then "Baseball." Missing from the clues for "Catch," was the word "Fishing." I suppose 2 words missing from "Marshmallow" would be "White" and then "Roasting," or "Roasted."
I can't believe I was 3 years old when this show aired !
Same here
I was 7
I was 6.
The grasshopper clinging to my Grandma's kitchen window on that evening was 37 days old.
Jane got all male contenders and Bill all female . For variety I like 2 females and 2 males .
At another stage in Password they used to swap the partners which was a good idea .
I felt the same way.
Bill Cullen on NBC and CBS at the Same Time
Jane Fonda’s voice and accent are still the same. :) full of confdence and natural beauty.
I don't think Barbara could get enough of Bill. Did you see how CLOSE she kept getting?!
Well hello my occasional foil from match game, it appears to be a case of desperate housewives syndrome 😮
Jane is still as beautiful today.
Yes, Hanoi Jane's cosmetic surgeon has done a wonderful job.
Pretty well preserved, but given the choice, I'd take the '63 model.
@@elliebellie7816 Apparently you haven't noticed: the war is over.
4:39 my favorite part of Password
I guess Jack Clark wanted to play along with Bills play on words
I enjoyed watching Bill Cullen in this episode. I always liked his crew cut. It looked good on him. I think that a man should always have short hair.
Indeed. I remember in 1974 when NBC exec Lin Bolin insisted he grow out his hair and wear leasure suits on "Winning Streak"... it just wasn't his look.
@@artkurtz9238 I believe it. I saw him on some game shows where he grew out his hair and it looked awful. I think that it made him look older too.
@@lynettepalecek3141 ruclips.net/video/9AH_Bd5uCdk/видео.html
Why?
The opening part was hilarious!!!
Just watched the 1965 match, with guests Lucille Ball, Gary Morton, Lucille's daughter Lucy & son Desi, Jr. . . . so for Allen to twice mention something about no gestures/just the clue in this 1963 match, seems way odd!
It _was_ two years closer to the big quiz show scandals.
Yes let's pass Playword
Yes it’s Playword!
Idents:
Formation (13 seconds; partial)
Casino (5 seconds; partial)
Cullen should have argued he said “sine”, not “sign” ;-)
They are homonyms, which are allowed in Password.
25:12 I wonder what made Allen give that surprised look.
Lol you can see all the audience looking in one direction
@@JoshLeRose Maybe someone decided to streak across the stage🤪
Wow, did the producer screw up? AT 21:56, it looks as if they're going to go to commercial, but then Ludden is told they're starting a new game, and he has to rush them. Those contestants played very well and fast, but there wasn't enough time for the winner to do the lightning round. I'd say they both wuz robbed!
It should start alternately not always to the team of Jane.
Nobody wuz robbed. They either played the lightning round off-camera or continued it on the next taping. Dont think the show would shortchange a contestant over an issue that wasn't the contestant's fault - you see that from the lightning round when the celebrity goofs and says the word, Ludden gives the contestant the word.
Some really bizarre clues in this ep
The first female player was overly familiar IMO.
She really had a personal space issue. Drove me crazy.
I was looking for this comment. Obnoxious. Over tactile too.
Her face got so close to his every time. You could see him backing up. I was stressed for him just watching this!
Was this before or after Jean tried to disgrace the United States by going to Hanoi
My grandparents retired in Wahoo, Nebraska
Say hi to them for me.
@@lynnturman8157 I'd like to, but they retired in Wahoo about the time this show was aired. They were born around 1890 and passed away many years ago. They were from another era.
@@roytee3127 My uncle is still alive. He has a thyroid condition.
the lady in the black dress had me anxious... I would be so uncomfortable that someone strange gets that close to me at all times
She was a close talker….definitely got into his space.
Jane looks like Paulina Vega Miss Universe 2014
This woman is Kristen Wiig’s doppelgänger.
That’s the first African-American player I’ve ever seen on this show!
It didn't happen on its own. It was driven by what was going on outside the show...NAACP legal cases, dozens of civil rights protests, including a massive march on washington that would happen five months after this show, and 1964 Civil Rights Act legislation that was being drafted to outlaw the blatant discrimination that deliberately kept black citizens locked out from being contestants and audience members on all of these shows and across society. Unfortunately without the legal action and protests, the exclusionary default position would have remained indefinitely. Today, different times, yet similar story in other areas of American society. And so it goes...
Yes, very rare for that year. But this contestant is handsome and dignified. Diahnn Carroll played Password the following week after this episode.
There were a lot of black players on this show. You just haven't watched it much.
@@lynettepalecek3141 1963... specific year..were there lots of black players in that year on Password?
After having read a few comments about Barbara and Bill, I hadn't read anything inappropriate into it though
when you hear this sound it means
somebody farted.
"HILARIOUS" 😃
Candy I gooey I white would've gotten Marshmallow.
Even the announcer gets it wrong.
I thought the Navy guy was gonna break Jane's shoulder the way he was grabbing her when she solved...
Jane Fonda at 25: yum.
Do most of the female contestants wear size 8 little black dresses???? It sure looks like it☺️
I've wondered the same thing, lol.
we are here to pass word play hehe G bless Ukraine
I would have liked it much better if Sandra would have played a full game
Man, Fonda was so very fine
Is Jane the only living participant in PASSWORD in 2024?
Well, Barbara Eden was also on this show in the mid-'60's.
It's Playword... It's Playword Plus!
Bill Cullen- Ernie (from My Three Sons), all grown up.
Why, coz he wears glasses? He certainly doesn't look like Barry Livingston.
Is Jane wearing a hair wig !!!!????
Barbara is making me cringe a lot haha!
Me too. It looked like she was ready to pounce on Bill. I find to hard to watch a person encroach on other person's personal space.
Golly the woman contestant is a real toucher & close talker. Annoying.!
At 6:44 The Password is Bin. The correct response should be Laden 🤣
I always felt sorry for Jane because she never won a single game...not one. James Mason and Bill Cullen did but not her.
I thought she did a lightening round at least once,
Thanks for giving it away
She at least was a decent player throughout. Being a poor player is worse.
Jane may not have on this one. I guess she was on more than once. With James Mason Jane I think did win and do the lightening round. Bill and James Mason were very good 😌 players. Jam s was a standout
When the episode ended, she and her partner were ahead. It was considered a win.
I wonder if Barbara was ever taught the words “personal space” she was getting on my nerves haha
Absolutely! I thought some of these contestants get really familiar!
@@charlottecoffelt7839 okurrrr
She made me nervous
This compared to how she was playing the same game earlier this year on Jimmy Fallon. She lost every single one of her fucks and its awesome.
Bill cheats like hell!
He should know better.
lol
@Alex Daniel. Bill Cullen doesn't cheat. You're just jealous because he was a lot more intelligent than you ever will be, you moron!! 👎😡🤮
@@m.e.d.7997 He never cheated. You're just jealous because he's a lot smarter than you will ever be.
@@lynettepalecek3141 Again why are you not barking this at the original poster, Peter?? And targeting others? Because you are telling me I am jealous. The original poster Peter is the one that called Bill the big cheater not me,
It's really horrible, all the hatefulness in these comments. Y'all really are stuck in the past. Get over it.
Some people have trouble removing the sticks from their bottoms.
Anyone else think it's ironic that they paired Hanoi Jane with a Navy pilot?
No. No one else. We all came here to watch a Password episode.
You weren't in Viet Nam, I assume. Your false "outrage" all these years later is stolen valor.
Damn, let it go already. We're here to play a fun game.
At 10:10 did Jane tell that man to keep his hands off her ?
She was asking what the score was.
Don't touch the celebrities!!
@@audreymai2773 Yes, I agree; at 6:25 Jane put her arm around his shoulder. She was concerned about the score at 10:10
Rare to see a fat American back then
You guys are pretty tight... relax
Why do they use their fingers to wipe their noses !!!!????
Because everything was done so much classier back then. Geez, you don't get it apparently.
Jane Fonda sitting next to a serviceman, oh the irony. I wonder if he was still enlisted when she decided to make friends with our enemy combatants in Vietnam.
Yes, she turned out to be a traitor to those American prisoners of war. They were later executed because they tried to pass notes to her and she turned them over. I never liked her.
@@lucyflorey9152 The great irony here is you probably voted for the greatest traitor in American political history, the dictator-loving Trump twice! And still support him even after he vocally instigated a violent and criminal attempted coup, an overthrow of our democracy. Who exactly is the traitor here, comrade?
@@generalyellor8188 - Bravo! Hey, she can't help it...just a babbling parrot repeating lines she's been fed over her chosen media outlets.
@@lucyflorey9152 - only a dingbat believes somebody got executed over notes passed to a known celebrity. If anybody got executed, it was done on accord of the executioner, who in war, doesn't need to hide behind the silly excuse of "notes given to a celebrity" as a reason. You talk like a non-serving idiot.
@@lucyflorey9152 I don't believe this. She would never do such a thing. And she is not a traitor.
Hanoi Jane is even hamming it up with her facial expressions, gestures and trying to maximise the camera time. Totally false individual.
Jane is so fingernails on the blackboard.
