I really wish they would have capitalized on Andy Garcias “Vincent” being the next Godfather. I really think Andy Garcia would have been a great next addition to the legendary masterpiece. I would have loved to see part IV with Andy being the Don. Andy Garcia would have been AWESOME!!! That was a missed opportunity.

That's not true at all. James Caan and Robert Duvall were already well known in Hollywood. As for Brando being "out of favour" in Hollywood, he took home best actor for the Vito Corleone role, plus the BAFTA award for best actor.
I had to watch Godfather 3 a few times to see it was pretty good. Also myself and others would have loved to see a Godfather 4. Just to see how Vincent would evolved.
I could never understand why Sonny other son was not in the picture to be Vince rival, I think that conception would make a interesting plot just thought 11:55
Francis Ford Coppola should have made Godfather 3 in 1980 in order to complete the series and have the actors and characters still intact. That third film could have been about Michael trying to consolidate his power through the Vatican property deal that turned into a scandal which was the basis for the 1990 film. No need for a Godfather 4 if FFC had done this.
in my views, Godfather lll shouldn't have been made let alone Part 4. classics are meant to be untouched, not tampered with. no matter who will be in part 4 it will be soggy unnecessary extension and deformation of the greatest movie ever made.

Part 3 could have been a great movie if the studios hadn’t decided to low-ball Robert Duvall and forced them to change the story they wanted to tell. Listening to the commentary track on GF III, the idea Coppola was thinking of going with for a GF IV would have been awful. Though I admit the casting would have been great. Just because an artist was able to create a masterpiece doesn’t make them a genius, nor capable of duplicating the feat. Coppola was a rare case of lightning striking multiple times, but like Spielberg, that spark they had when they initially made these classics are gone. In our current politically correct, dei crazed culture a Godfather series would be a terrible idea.
i think a god father series should be made from the book the family corleone. I would love to see how Vito became the powerful god father and see Sonny's rise into the family business. A very well written book.

That's why people should go in with no hype, just level headed & judge the movie solely on THAT movie.

Part 3 should have been about Anthony and Michael. Part 2 clearly showed him as a vulnerable, confused kid dealing with his ice cold father. And the killing of Fredo right before they were supposed to go fishing no doubt scarred him. Instead we get a movie about the daughter and her incestous relationship with her cousin. A cousin by the way who did not exist in the original novel. And don’t get me started about Pacino’s portrayal of Michael.
IMHO no to Godfather IV and no to a TV series. They will never live up to I & II, the expectations are too high and when you’re at the top of mountain your only option is down. The acting of the cast will be compared to the original and won’t stand up to the criticism. Best to leave it alone.
, Godfather 3 was garbage, the characters were hollow. Diane Keaton's character was a middle aged feminist who seemed like she was in the wrong movie. The Micheal character was emasculated, watered down and weak. Francis Ford Coppola has lost his touch. We saw the same mistakes in his Dracula film. The first hour and 20 minutes showed us brilliant film making. Then the film begins to fall apart.
