Glad to see some Malaysian food in this channel. Random fact, Malaysian food is really just a blend of different food culture. Indonesian, Chinese, Indian and Thai being the most common ones. Laksa for example is actually an inspiration from up north, borders with Thailand. Some dish were inspired or modified from its original version and some are just a weird creation as a result of trying to please different palates (eg. Nyonya style and Mamak style). I would go on and say, most Malaysian have not even tried the full length of Malaysian cuisine cause it so varied despite our small country.

冰沙 (Chinese) should be 冰沙 (Mandarin)* meaning 华语/普通话, since Cantonese is a Chinese/Sinitic language as well, like Mandarin. It's an understandable mistake, cuz in Malaysia we Chinese colloquially refer to the Mandarin language as Chinese as well & refer to other Chinese languages as 'dialects' (方言).

Finally seeing Malaysia having the attention on Jolly! Can't wait to see Josh and Ollie experience the full Malaysia food culture!
On a side note, not all Malaysians enjoy the smelly beans "Petai' as well. If its one thing that is stronger than durian, it definitely has to be petai.

@@taengiu Supposedly, there is a way to neutralise the petai smell in your body. You eat terung (brinjal or aubergine) after eating petai...try it the next time.

Me and my whole family are European (living in New Zealand) but my mother grew up in Malaysia, so I always grew up with the food, and even went to Malaysia with her for a reunion. I am so glad to see you guys enjoying Malaysian food! Makes me so nostalgic!! Hope you try out some more, or even go there!

@@fjp9 It's a reference from Uncle Roger's (Nigel) videos. When he reviews videos from chefs and cooks who are very good, he calls them "Uncle" or "Auntie" (so, Gordon Ramsay is Uncle Gordon, one of his chef friends is Auntie Liz, and so on). It's affectionate. ;)

@@fjp9 Calling someone auntie or uncle is a way younger Malaysians call older ones affectionately, it's not a nickname, it's like calling someone mr and ms but make it 100 times more heart warming. It's kinda a thing because of cultural and language exchange over the years, bilinguals exchanging different languages from direct translations and make it their own. God bless you ! Have a great day! Semoga hari anda indah!
