Great Video, because of what was not in it. No 5 minute selfie intro, No continous empty words, just a factual and demonstrable comparison. Excellent Video, and i am in South China with nothing else to do on a quiet evening.

These 1/10th cars still apply the principles of offroading. 1/10th scale tire rpm and grip principles. Lowering the voltage down equivalent to a doublers low range, will drastically reduce the wheelspin, and enhance the traction. The truck with the slowest roll on any of those tires that grip even a little, will creep right up to the top the slower you go. Wayyyy too much wheel spin on the first two tires. However, I imagine, its hard to get motor rpms that slow with the trigger setup. So it is what it is.

The Gen 7 tire was the only one that caused a backflip. It was CG limited, not grip limited. To really call a winner I would need to see how the Redcat tires do with the same weighted wheels and foams. Weight and foams make a massive difference when grip is not the limiting factor.

never in a million years would i have thought that was possible
traxxas just knows how to make a good looking tire, making it have traction also is just too hard for them!!
i would think that weight is only and advantage @ less then 45 degrees, @ 60 degrees the weight is probably more a disadvantage then advantage because of gravity

You of all people know that each and every tire are good for certain situations and terrains. This is just a wood test.... for instance my box stock traxxas tire out performs my high dollar ottsix and proline tires on the trails and rocks.... hard to explain. The swampers definitely have their place in the crawling world as all of them do. Good video overall

funny thing happen to me the other day when I was out playing with my Redcat gen 7 pro. Me and my brother went out to this lake the had lowered the water 5ft. we were in our kayaks and the Redcat pro in a blowup boat being pulled by the kayak. well on our way back the wind started to pick up and low and behold the blowup boat flipped over with the Redcat in it. yep there I was watching my almost $300 rock crawler sinking to the bottom of the lake (which is 100ft deep). I have never felt so helpless in my life. The wind was 25mhp and the water is like 40 degrees. The lesson I learned in this was didn't get to attached to things. so i now i no rock crawler.

I was on a floating house in the Amazon (on a "lake(like water)" called Lago Catalao, that is connecting Rio Negro and Rio Solimoes/Amazonas), battery got low (they fail soon after some times in the tropics), sitting on a stage of the floating house aside the water, my Blade Chroma coming back... and about 2 or 3 m from me battery got down fully and it sank. I put rx aside rapidly, and jumped into the water and could catch it in about 2 m depth :) - after drying everything worked fine again (maybe not the battery).

Those red cats are pretty impressive. Does anyone know the diameter of those tires?

not really sure what the specs are but on the table they are just as tall as the KLR tires and they say they are 4.75"

About the Red Cat car, is it a good crawler? - its pretty cheap compared to the Traxxas and Axials - we do have a seller for the brand now - its a brand we never heard of before here in the northern countries, (Northern Scandinavia) greets Levi

Who do you order those Chinese wheels from? Any particular place?
I was amazed at how well the Redcat tires hooked up on the plywood, then the KLR Gold were even better. Very impressed. Not too surprised at how bad the Traxxas tires did. I have owned several Traxxas rigs, and the tires were the first to go.
The swampers are more designed for mud, not so much for smooth surfaces, so to be fair, do a test with them on a muddy surface, and other types of surfaces to see how each of them do on them. You will be surprised at how well they do.

for sure I've been running the swampers for years and they work great, just not on wood. I want to do mud and sand soon. I get my wheels from ebay.

Awesome work, it will be nice if you do a high speed test on this particular tires, I mean a good tire have to be good in all type of terrain.. "By the way I just find you and just subscribed" thanks for posting.

Thanks, how fast do you want? Most scalers don't go much past 20mph at the most and any of these will get that easy, I have a video of this truck getting 44mph on stock tires if that helps.

    • @Migueldeservantes
      @Migueldeservantes 6 лет назад

In honesty I don't need any speed at all! I use to drag race in NY... but that was using nitro engines... so there's not real comparison! I do remember having a hard time getting good traction... beside of the foam tires.. but that is not applicable... thanks for the response.

Which rock is wood? My bro run the TRX4 Bronco and sport on his stock tires and foams on wet sharp rocks with very good climbing results i have a hard day to follow him with my SCX 10 ll (Free Men)on my Louise rowdy tires on aluminium Austar wheels. You can watch the video on my channel.

Great comparison test! Begs the question why pay such top dollar for TRX and other manufacturers when Red cat stuff is just as good and better! AND your test of the red cat tire was not even fair lol! Maybe you can take the two winners and try them put with same foam / wheel instead of plastic vs metal.... the weight diff may be the only thing preventing red cat from taking the win?

I have 2 new sets of the redcat tires so I may try that. Supposed to be getting a new set of KLR tires too. The newest ones.

I like my redcat Everest. The only thing is it doesn't turn very sharp at all. Everything stock, it out climbs all of my trucks. Two screws on front of axle hit the turnbuckle and will only allow about 30° of turning.

That's great if you're climbing smooth board surfaces...a non agressive type tire like a racing slick would do better. Do a actual rock climb with them though. I'm willing to bet the most agressive lug tire will dominate in real world situations.

Couple questions for ya. Forgive me if some of them seem ignorant, I'm relatively new to the crawler scene. 1, Is there any particular reason you didn't try out the popular Pro-line Hyrax? 2, Why was your FR tire lifting from the surface and can that be fixed or is it just a geometry issue with the Redcat? 3, How big a difference would it make strictly in this test using a 1.95 vs 2.2s?
