Doc talks about summer lawn care and what changes when the heat and droughts start to move in. Applying instant release products like Green Shocker help control how much nitrogen gets to your grass. At the same time it's a great time to work on your soil health with Dirt Booster.
I’ve been using the PGF complete every 3-4 weeks here in New Mexico. I put it down about 2 weeks ago and we have been in the 100s everyday and 110s a couple of days with no rain at all and my yard is looking great! I don’t think you have worry about stressing your lawn with PGF complete if you have irrigation. It’s good stuff!
My front lawn was planted on top of a construction gravel driveway. My plan is to keep top dressing with garden soil every spring. I feel like I’m making the soil deeper by going up. So far it looks good this year. I would love the dirt booster too.
Very interesting as a Marine Corps veteran I love military history!
Google Street View still has the pad in the yard. I love that area of Georgia!
Those are da'bomb! Thank you. I'll get them ordered.
you tube sends me all ur videos, thats why my new Monaco is looking so good. DARK green, small blades. Iron only coming from andersons fertilizer, Listen to this man!!!!!!!!!
Awesome video thanks.
Thanks Doc!
I’m watching this as I take a break from spreading almost everything: Humichar, Dirt Booster, PGF Complete and balanced, Green Shocker, Double Kill, Pre-emergent and I aerated and watered like crazy. Of course I gave it a haircut first. Did a summer scalp a week ago. Keeping that Bermuda at
Is there anything harder to do than keeping a nice lawn here in San Antonio?!?
@@SouthTexasLawns loool ! Well, yes, keeping my Jasmines and Gardenias alive!
So, I lived in different parts of the country and it’s my 5th year in SA. I don’t think there’s something especially more difficult about it. However, one thing I did notice here is that most people don’t do anything to their lawns except the mandatory mowings. Not even watering their lawn ever. For the backyard..a big nothing. It’s the area for the dogs to poop. So the inevitable consequence is 95% weeds…the pokey ones too 😖
This is the new house? Feels like the last one was more peaceful 😂
It's The Beach House
Great metal detecting area
Does this also apply to BERMUDA lawn care in Arizona cause looking at the calendar, it doesn't match up with Arizona weather.
Is there any desire to preserve these batteries? Pretty awesome piece of history!
Rangers Lead The Way!! Second Ranger bat here, are you in Savannah?
Thanks for keeping me informed on how to handle my bermuda here in Alabama.
For a summer fertilizer you mention Green Shocker. What about Super Juice?…at half strength it’s a 7-1-2 or at full strength it’s a 14-2-4. And Super Juice’s price per application is cheaper than Green Shocker.
Acelepryn is key to keeping Zoysia japonica in South Florida due to the constant attack of tropical sod webworms.
Wow! You would think they would clean it up like Rome NY and make money with yours and re-enactments to keep it up!
Since doc rarely answers questions can someone in the comments help me? I think I may have brown spot fungus but I’m trying to just grow out of it since I really do not like putting chemicals down on the lawn. Will dirt booster just enhance my possible bad fungus problem?
Doc !!!! Aside from heat stress from my neighbors window reflecting the sunlight in a rectangular patch on my zoysia,I just discovered that there is gravel and rock about 2 inches below my zoysia where it’s been turning yellow for the past two years during the hottest part of summer I’m guessing because of the heat that heats up the rock takes away the moisture in the grass area is about 6‘ x 6‘ area. What’s the best way of trying to get the gravel dug out from under it without destroying my yard?
The dirt booster plus is awesome DOC and smells greaaaaaat😂😂 thanks for the video.
Also how many bags of Dirt Booster do you use a month.
Doc, you hating on the Rangers because you are marine? Lol, really enjoy the videos.
So Dirt Booster is now the old Humichar? I can use Dirt Booster omg lawn and garden?
If only had use one product to improve soil. Use dirt booster or humichar. ? For lawns
Having some spurge among other weeds appearing after my pre emergent application of tenacity. Can I mix tenacity and my spurge killer for my 2nd application attack everything all at once
Product is spurge power
What do you recommend for CA residents? Seems we can't buy a lot of the products you endorse due to regulations.
I'm looking for good rotor sprinklers. I have brand new Bermuda sod. It's only a few days old. When I tippy-toed on it with bare feet, I thought this must be what heaven feels like. The bare soil was treated with dirt booster, PGF 10-10-10, and HumiChar. Anyway, the installer put in rain bird style sprinklers. I don't like them. I need something that distributes the water more evenly. I saw your sprinklers at your "sold" house. I like those. I want to do anything that will help my new baby lawn thrive. Any recommendations?
I now only use hunter I20 stainless. Have 12 of them here now too. www.sprinklerwarehouse.com/hunter-i-20-stainless-steel-rotor-with-check-valve-6-in-i20-06-ss
Hey 👋
Lol that slow pan to helo
Doc, I sodded my back yard with Zion Zoysia, however the St. Augustine is coming up from underneath, i tried to till up the old lawn but i guess some survived. I'm cutting it at 1" to help battle the St. Augustine but is there a chemical solution you would suggest to fight it? thanks!
Good call mowing low. I've heard that's the best way to fight St. A when you have bermuda. I would think the same applies to the Zoysia even though it has a slower growth rate. We just sodded Zeon as well but after I tilled it we did 2 treatments of round up on the St. A before adding composted soil and laying the Zoysia. I hope to hear what the doc says in the event I need to fight off my neighbors St. A. Best of luck!
apply quinclorac.
@@thebaldnbeardful2286 thanks i found out that Quinclorac is what i need to use, so i ordered some.
Doc, I remember when you started wearing the type of hat you have on in this video, but not the video or product link. Do you have a link for the hat you are wearing?
Most are from Gold Coast Hats
Doc, is there any interest from your municipality to restore the military installations? You may not like the additional traffic but would be a shame to lose the history.
Doc, im 10 days into my newly sowed bermuda grass. Theyr down some dirt booster, fert, and more humichar. Waiting for it to sprout. Its been in the 90s during the day. Im hoping for the best🤞🏽 but expecting some failure😔
I watered lightly 4 times a day and had about 80% fill after 6 weeks. Bermuda takes some time but once it's going....it's going seriously!
@@beerbeforebreakfast I appreciate the feedback. Im keeping my fingers crossed! 🙏🏽
Just noticed. 11 days in, some of the bermuda seelings have sprouted!!🤙🏽
@@DSRTSLA glad it sprouted. Don’t cut it just yet. Let it establish some more. Give a month. Let it get up to 4 or even 5 inches. It’s still fresh and thin so no harm will happen from length
Hey Doc, how did the Gold expedition pan out for ya? 🤡
Sexy lawn guru in the lawn!!!!!!
Are you familiar with Dr. Elaine Ingram? She has done revolutionary research on the soil food web. Tons of great videos on RUclips where she explains how to bring back the soil biology. She talks about the importance of beneficial bacteria and fungi. I know you talk a lot about the beneficial bacteria, but what about the fungi?? How do we build fungi in our lawns? She said to much bacteria and not enough fungi is why soils have such weed pressure.
