Fair warning to anyone who does this, it does work but make sure everything is tightly secured or it will cause squeaking. I recommend removing the lower box of the old intake to allow more room.
More dirt go in to the engine because, more and easier airflow means usually less resistance and when it happens, filtering dust and some other particles is less then ideal for long lasting engine. It gives you more turbo sound and less years before engine rebuild or scrab yard. I do not recommend do that and even less if you have stock, unmodified car. If you really want better flow maybe filter with direct replacement for the stock one is better option, then you at least get fresh cool air too it, and maybe some sound too, but then the sound is not priority.
hello i just installed this for my Audi A5 2.0 tdi. Everything is ok, only the filter does not fit in the open box like yours at 0:07 seconds. Mine is now hanging against the black box and sticks out a bit over the engine block. When i close the hood it goes down without the rings coming loose. i can hear the turbo sound, so everything is ok right?
@@eimantasme you only need a heat shield around the part that's close to the engine this will stop the hot air being sucked into the filter. i really don't know much about this air intake. will it ruin the car? the stock filter has cover ( housing ) this dont have. will it get more dirt? what are pro and cons installing this filter?
There is no cons with having a filter like this, but the biggest downside with having it mounted like this is that it will suck in war air from the engine bay. Better have it closed.
@@abc-eq9soyes good point, that's why when installing aftermarket air filters like this one you ideally need to have a heat Sheild in place around the filter this then stops it sucking in all the hot air from the engine and gives you better sound from the turbo and increased cold air for it and slightly increasing power not a lot but will probably add like 10hp.
Hey! So this was just temporary till I built a proper “air filter” box, there’s an alternative video for that, as for the filter, I replace it every 30k and wash and clean it in between

There's a vaccum pipe in some of the airboxs to control the valve at the bottom of the airbox (this is to suck in warmer air from the exhaust manifold to help warm up the car in colder climates) either check if it's plugged into the valve or block off the vacuum pipe with a screw

Air vent is still completely functional and working! It’s receiving the cool air from the bottom, and obviously without the cover yes hot air from the top… but after it goes through the intercooler it doesn’t make that much of a difference. It’s how cars work
i bought the linked one and when i close my hood it comes in touch with the hood. Also the hose connected to the filter touches the bell looking thing right below the oil cap and it gets hella hot

to be fair, even the 300 dollar air intakes, which are usually ram air intakes sucking in warm air from the engine bay unless they're mounted entirely under front fender area which i've rarely seen aside from every blue moon, will almost always result in some heat soaking in the long run...at least here, you're not spending 200+ dollars on a useless, steel, or silicone tubing system, and just a $30 cone itself...one gain is that it'll give you a much deeper engine growl which will surely benefit alot of lawmower sounding 4 banger and v6's in that sense..alot of people install them for the sound alone which is why you'll see various vehicles, especially at meets, with air intake sitting right in the upper engine compartment.....
Engine masters iced an intake down, packed in as much ice as they could get around and got no gains from icing the intake completely. There has to be a drastic change in temp to affect power
