  • In August of 1984, Michigan housewife Betty Mahmoody went to Iran with her husband and four-year-old daughter Mahtob, on a two-week trip to visit his family in Teheran. However, once the two weeks were over, he refused to allow them to leave. Betty Mahmoody and her daughter became virtual prisoners of a man who had rededicated himself to the Shiite Moslem faith. Thus began an 18-month tour of terror in which Mahmoody lived in fear of her husband and secretly plotted her escape to freedom. Mahmoody's story is one of hope, courage, resourcefulness and action.

You are such a brave woman and hero. You are such a wonderful mother, that you never leave your daughter in Iran. You are a true heroin for your daughter. The mother's instinct don't leave her kid/s in danger.

R Corn She didn't want Mahtob to grow up in that environment-where she would have zero rights. It was a great book, and you could even see earlier stuff where she had to force Moody to do things when he was suffering thru a depression. I use that to not end up like him-a lazy bum.

So sorry for what she had to go through... Good for her!!! I would have done the same thing though I doubt I would have had the grace she had. Stand up for your rights.
