The Kevin video that is getting reactors attention is "Down (Marian Hill KOver) - Kevin Olusola" on his KO channel. Sings, plays cello, beatboxes, and assorted wizardry 😊
Ok, first of all, yes this is a one take. All of the evolution medleys are one takes. Kevin can sing, and rap. He is classically trained on cello and sax and has performed at Carnegie hall on both. He invented celloboxing. Yo-yo Ma is a huge fan of his, Kevin came in 2nd for a competition for Mr. Ma. Kevin graduated from Yale and was accepted into the medical school and chose to go on the sing off with PTX. He's also fluent in mandarin. He didn't think he could sing and Avi and Mitch taught him. Avi was days away from signing with an opera house when Scott approached him about the sing off. He ended up leaving, amicably at the end of 2017. He can also do overtone singing. Scott is probably the most confident of the trio. He has won singing competitions before and is also very talented in arranging. He has a very supportive boyfriend who has helped write and inspire some of the new singles from the last 2 albums. Thank you and coffee in bed. Kirstie is probably the shyest of the group. She did a tour on Broadway in Kinky Boots and her confidence has grown. She's pretty petite and is almost always in heels. She did break her ankle a few years ago and still toured and filmed videos with a cast and crutches. Her vocal range is impressive, she's a mezzo soprano, but can still hit lower notes perfectly. Both Kirstie and Mitch can sing whistle notes. There's a video showcasing that, I think filmed in Avi and Kevin's apartment. She's a huge part of the group, even if she is in a supportive role. Watch their cover of Gold to fully appreciate. And then Mitch. Love him. He is a chameleon. His confidence has grown wonderfully. But he does suffer from anxiety. His voice is beyond beautiful. He is part of the LGBTQ+ community. He shows that in their imagine video. The producers of the sing off where not supportive of the community during season 3 and really didn't want to show case Mitch. Pentatonix slapped back on their 12th performance. They were amazing. The group has 2 rules. No egos and if they can't do it live, then they don't do it. They've been going strong for 10 years and I hope they keep it going.
Avi has some amazing solo work out. Check out Change On The Rise, Aberdeen, Otherside, I'll Get By, The Summit, Chains, Get Down, and his cover of Lean On Me (Bill Withers). There are some live performances available on his channel and he post on instagram frequently with some of his alternate versions (lower versions) of just him and his guitar. He has a video out that is a fund raiser for Acapella Academy that he is very involved in.
I'd love for you to watch some Kirstie led songs so you can see how good she really is. A couple great ones are Say Something (Kevin plays the cello in this one) and My Favorite Things. For a great Kirstie led original, try Be My Eyes. Avi has some really amazing stuff, though very different from what he did with PTX. Change on the Rise is my personal favorite, but Full Moon, I'll Get By, It Knows Me, and Chains are all really great too (really all of his stuff).
I would add Rather Be and Water to your Kirstin lead suggestions. There isn't an official video for Water, but the Pentatonix Popspring concert in Japan has 3 originals including Water and the Michael Jackson medley, which is fun to see them perform live with their added choreography.
